Went to Italian by Night for a late Valentine's day dinner. We started with a margherita pizza which was very flavorful and delicious. Our server brought chilis for us to add a touch of spice, and we also enjoyed a glass of prosecco. Our server was Daniel and he may very well have been the best server we have ever had, informative and provided excellent service and recommendations! For mains I got the feature which was a tenderloin (medium rare) with squash and risotto and my wife got the Scoglio, both dishes were amazing!! The beef and sauce were out of this world amazing. The pasta had so much delicious seafood, loved the baby clams. We had some great Italian wines by the glass with our mains recommended by Daniel that went perfectly with our meals. Service, food, atmosphere were all 10/10 at this place, one of my favorite meals of all time. This is food and service done to a high standard!!

My husband and I visited Saint John for our anniversary and decided to try Italian by Night. After 1 dinner, it’s now become a new favourite for us! The menu was expansive and had so many great options - all truly authentically Italian. Our server, Danielle, was phenomenal; she was incredibly attentive and it truly felt like she cared about us having the best experience. We can’t wait to go back!

We were two couples who dined together frequently, pre-Covid.
We were a little apprehensive about going to eat in a restaurant, however, we needn't have been.
Every precaution was taken and we felt safe with the atmosphere and service, and the food, as always, didn't disappoint.
We highly recommend Italian by Night.

First, we got a call asking us to come in 15 minutes early because it was chop chop week, even though we'd booked a week before. Then we sat for nearly 20 minutes before being asked if we'd like drinks. After that point, the service was stellar, five star, even, with an attentive, charming waiter, and hot towels. The food, however, was just okay. The calamari was tough and the carbonara was nothing special, even though the scallops were perfectly cooked. I will say the bottles wine is really reasonably priced. So, in all, I can only find a three star rating for the complete experience.

We were here for a corporate dinner of colleagues from Alberta and Ontario. We were embarrassed to have recommended this place to them. The muscles were very fishy smelling and many were closed and therefore inedible. The 5 scallops with fettuccine were breaded and fried…way WAY TOO LONG-basically rubber. Bruschetta was bland and served on completely burnt toast. To make matters even more awkward I was still chewing when the the wait staff grabs my plate and moves onto the next course. Like you are so busy that you are not allowed to linger over their overpriced wine?After the $500+ bill for 4 people, IBN has the audacity to “offer 25 or 30% tip! I liked this place when it was first open but I feel like the quality is going downhill! Come on, do better!!

This was our first night out with friends since the reopening of dining rooms with the current phase of the pandemic. What an excellent choice! Between the four of us, we ordered nine menu items including two appetizers, four main dishes, and three desserts. They were all delectable! One of the owners, Elizabeth, chatted with us, sharing the history of the restaurant. She was very gracious and appreciative of our patronage. Our server, Liane, was first class. She was very knowledgable and answered all our menu questions with patience. Service was attentive but not intrusive. We appreciated the atmosphere that was classy and with music in the background but not too loud; it was easy to carry on a conversation. This restaurant has definitely been added to our list of favourites!

This is a great place—but it is packed. We made a reservation, but could only get the bar for seating. As it turns out, that was a lot of fun, watching the bar tenders to their work and chatting with them along the way. I asked them to recommend a wine for us and they up-sold us a bit from the price range I mentioned, but it was ok since the Canadian dollars is devalued about 25 percent against the American, and the wine was a good choice after all. I had the lasagne, which came in a very hot ramekin, while my wife had a delicious Gorgonzola pizza. Our reservation was for 6:30 and the place was already full when we arrived, so a reservation would seem to be a must.

What a wonderful evening out! My sister and I stayed in Saint John an extra day so she could enjoy her first meal at Italian by Night. Our dinner was absolutely delicious and the presentation of every dish was impressive. We feasted on the chef’s imaginative (and scrumptious) version of caprese salad, followed by a perfectly prepared steak served with a green pepper sauce. Our desserts - a wedge of flourless chocolate torte with raspberry coulis and a trio of house made sorbets - were just what we needed to finish off what was truly a culinary adventure. A huge thank you to Daniel, our server. He was so helpful, friendly and professional. I can’t remember the last time I had such good service in a restaurant. Italian by Night has everything you hope for when you decide to eat out and make an evening of it - excellent food, terrific service and a cozy ambiance.

Overpriced food that is not up to par in quality. I have no problem paying large amounts of money for good food, but their italian sauce seems comes from a can. Meatballs do not seem to be fresh either.

Food was as expected for the price. Had the calamari and was perfect.
My concern was when we arrived we were told we would have to vacate our table by a certain time, and our food was rushed to our table. We had booked table and even arrived 5 mins.early. Server was pleasant but rushed each part of our meal-seemed under orders to get us out quickly.
Not nice when you want to have a romantic meal (Anniversary in our case) and we were done in less than 45 minutes….not acceptable for a meal of that price. Ruined the occasion.
Was given a complementary drink for our special occasion, but……

Visited this venue for dinner. Starters were OK, calamari somewhat oily. The major disappointment for the group was the pizza. They serve the pizza in a bowel, so the edge is good but everything else is sozzy...thus you eat your pizza with a knife and fork, with a wet soaked crust. Maybe order something else if you don't like soggy pizza. Service was average.

We were playing with fire by showing up without a reservation on a Saturday night. We sat at the bar and were not disappointed. Both Alex and Jesse were highly entertaining conversationalists. Very professional. I am gluten free so they took extra care by informing the cooks and making certain that the meal I ordered wasn't going to poison me. We will be back, and we will absolutely be sitting at the bar :)

My recent dining experience was unfortunately disappointing due to various issues. The menu appeared to have repeating food elements for multiple dishes. Despite mentioning our dietary restriction of not consuming pork, the Arancini starter was served with bolognese sauce instead of the usual marinara sauce. We requested a replacement, but the waitress initially declined, stating the kitchen might be closed. Eventually, the Arancini was placed on our table, and we weren't charged for it in the end.
Moreover, the wait times were quite lengthy, with an hour and a half of waiting for our main dishes, possibly exacerbated by the fact that we were a large group. The food quality was mixed – the salmon was enjoyable, but the vegetarian pasta dish was overcooked and lacked flavor in its sauce. Dessert options were limited, and the pavlova we ordered was marred by a sour Rhubarb strawberry jam and a scanty amount of fruit.
To add to our frustrations, we experienced a half-hour wait for the bill, which was compounded by errors in the billing process that required multiple corrections. Overall, this experience left us disappointed with both the service and certain aspects of the food. Considering these issues, it's unlikely that we will choose to dine at this establishment again.

Had a rare opportunity to get out for a date night with my wife last night at Italian by Night. We’ve never had anything but excellent food and service here. And last night was no different. For an appetizer I tried the Zuppa del Giorno, which was a nice creamy tomato soup. Best tomato soup I’ve ever tasted. For my entree I got the Ravioli del Giorno, which was a nice spinach and ricotta ravioli. I really enjoyed this, especially the seasoning which gave it a little kick. Ended the meal with the Pavlova. I liked the pavlova, but not sure I’d get this again. Not because it was bad, but just not my thing I guess. My wife got the tenderloin steak and really enjoyed it. Was cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned. Overall, was an excellent experience and would recommend this for anyone looking for some good Italian food and good atmosphere. Great place for a date night!

I've had a couple of dinners at IbN over the last few weeks, both very enjoyable: house-made linguine and meatballs, and a caesar salad with steak. Both were great, and the wine pairings were excellent. The also know how to serve Sambuca con la mosca to end the night. Looking forward tot he next time!
