Delicious antithesis to cookie- cutter restaurants. Celebrating a birthday, we opted for their "blind" (surprise) 4-course tasting menu, it didn't disappoint. (I personally could have made a meal alone from the sourdough bread served with whipped molasses lard!) This was followed by a most delicious...salad, soup, main and dessert, all served at a leisurely pace to allow time to savour. Good bang for the buck! Additional drink pairing also very good, but maybe a bit pricey. Service good, atmosphere good, very happy with everything!More

We went to Port City Royal for our first anniversary last evening and it did not dissappoint. My wife has celaic disease so eating out isn’t the easiest thing and more times than not she ends up sick but that was not the case here....They have a dedicated fryer and understand the disease. She had the korean fried chicken and I had the burger. Both were excellent and I’m already looking forward to going back and having one of their very tasty whiskey sours! CheersMore

Unique and tasty food set in an intimate Uptown Saint John environment. Tried the fried chicken and beef skewers, enjoyed what seemed to be an Asian influence to both dishes. Serving size of the fried chicken felt understated, huge portion! Also had very polite waitress....Cocktails and drinks were also great with a variety of local beers available (but not on tap). The only downside: we felt a side should have been included with the fried chicken, rather than being recommended to order rice. Seemed to be a marked-up for what it was. Don’t know if it would ever make sense to sit there and eat half a chicken by yourself (although it did taste amazing!). This wouldn’t stop us from going back though, would love to try the multi course sometime!More

Surely the coolest restaurant or bar in Saint John. The tasting menu was four very enjoyable dishes, including the best asparagus I’ve had. Friendly and relaxed service, and the bartender is a genius.

Amazing food, cozy and chic atmosphere, cool cocktails. A great night out in Uptown Saint John. The charcuterie board was incredible (the bacon jam!!!). Ordered the Bravas Poutine and it did not disappoint. This place is a hidden gem!

Had dinner here with friends and can’t wait to go back!! There were 3 of us that shared 4 small plates, each one absolutely delicious!!! Even though we couldn’t finish all the food, we couldn’t resist dessert and that too was outstanding!!! The service was...excellent, with the food coming out as it was ready and very personable servers!! Highly recommend!!More

We chose to come to this establishment to celebrate Valentine's Day. We have been here several times and it is my husband's favourite restaurant, mainly because you never know what you are going to have for dinner - as the chef uses local produce. I...often choose Riesling for wine but it was quite dry compared to what I normally have - a lesson for future. We chose the chop chop dinner and since there were choices for the 4 courses we said "one of each please". The food was very good and just enough for a serving. We shared most of the food, allowing us to taste them all. There was lots of time given to us between courses. The friendliness of the staff allowed a cold evening to become much warmer.More

Came by this little Gem of a spot last summer while taking a shortcut up an alley. What an awesome spot! Great service, and and great food. I frequented there in the summer, and I plan on stopping in again this spring.

The Port City Royal looks like a cozy old bar with a lot of atmosphere, old bricks and wood and glowing lightbulbs. Try their outstanding drinks e.g. the “Celina”: a kind of heavenly Margarita! We had fresh oysters, delicious fish cake with scallops and fried...kale. The pork Schnitzel with mayo and salad with sprouts was just perfect, better then in Vienna. 4 different local cheeses were ok. We loved this place!More

If you want to relax and enjoy a night on the town, Port City Royal needs to be on the short list of places to visit. Stop in and hang out with Tom...Best bartender in St. John. The food and atmosphere are top notch.

My husband enjoys the local food at Port City Royal in Saint John, N.B. so we celebrated his birthday there. It happened to be a Wednesday when they also serve Ramen, and many people who came after us seemed to order Ramen. We started off...with a 5 ingredient charcuterie board and were able to choose from a list of meats and/or cheeses, accompanied by toasties. The rest of the meal was also good. Timing between our courses was perfect. We walked away happy and will definitely be back.More

I came here a few years ago and had the best old fashioned I've ever tasted.... Came in last night and my wife asked what kind of whiskey they used for whiskey sours and they said they used gin??? Wtf!! Then charged her 15 dollars...for it!! The old fashioned I had was terrible. Don't know what happened to this spot but I know I won't be back unfortunately.More

Small venue - enjoy the section off the bar area. But there are other seats in back closer to the kitchen. Unique old restored building.
