This spot has a great diner menu and the prices are reasonable, However, the quality lately has not been great. They overcook the hamburgers until they are hockey pucks and undercook the french fries so they are almost cold. The last 3 visits have not been edible. They always offer to cook something else or not charge for the meal. But I have stopped trying to get my meals there.

A great find! We were in Saint John for a matter of hours waiting for the ferry to Digby Nova Scotia and were looking for a place for lunch. Happened on the Island Girls quite by accident. The place was very busy, but the staff were friendly and welcoming. The menu is varied, offers many choices for all day breakfasts, as well as luncheon options, sandwiches and more. We also appreciated a small seniors menu. I had the senior omelet meal...the omelet was filled with mushrooms, cheese, and onions...you could also add meat or green peppers as well. The potato options were grilled on the cooktop or deep fried. I opted for the grilled home fries and they were tasty. In fact, the whole meal was excellent. Hubby had the Island Girl Special...eggs, choice of breakfast meat, toast and he turned down the home fries. He did taste mine and thought they were good. Although the place was bustling, we didn't have to wait long for our order. The servers were cheerful and smiling and helpful We would probably not hesitate to return here if in Saint John again.

Accessible although not sure about washrooms but can get in and around the place. The chairs are cheap patio furniture which fits with the theme but are not comfortable or sturdy. Most clients seem to be older which is not ideal for the kind of chairs. The service is friendly. Ordered soup of the day - but more noodles than meat and likely out of a can or at least it tasted like that. The salad was ok. But waited a long time for just a soup and salad. Known for their breakfasts so perhaps they are better. Local and not a franchise which is a plus.

We arrived at the restaurant only a half hour before its closing. We were hungry but didn’t want to keep the crew late. So we decided to order simply: small Caesar’s salad, fish chowder and hot tea! I proceeded to watch our waitress hand cut each leaf of Romaine and then toss it altogether with chunks of bread crumbs, capers and the perfect amount of very tasty dressing. We gobbled it down. When the fish chowder arrived I realized I should have followed my wife’s lead and ordered just a cup instead of a full bowl. Both were mounded on top with perfectly fresh haddock, chunky white potatoes, carrots, celery and a bit of onion. Simple, yet absolutely delicious! Too much to finish, so we both came home with fish chowder leftovers, which, as we know, is always even better the 2nd time around! First time at this restaurant. It won’t be the last, as we come through town a few times a year.

We stopped here to get some breakfast prior to taking the ferry boat from Digby to the Island of Nova Scotia. Very friendly people serving up hot breakfast with fresh coffee. We got the omelets and hash browns which were very filling.

Went for seafood and enjoyed the seafood platter which was an assortment of deep fried clams, shrimps, scallops and one piece of haddock. It was all very fresh, battered in a crisp light coating and enjoyed in a delightful restaurant. The carrot cake was amazing as well. A generous square that was dense, moist with a lovely cream cheese icing and cute carrot image. A great dining experience for really good value.

Very small menu and most of it is battered fish or other seafood. They have done away with some homestyle favorites that they had at their original location. The diner itself is very cramped and unappealing. It has no ambiance at all. People are crammed in, with a table right beside the door when you enter. I certainly wouldn't want to be sitting there. We waited more than long enough for our food. We have given this place a few chances thinking it might be better, but each time we were more disappointed, we won't be back. Desserts in the cooler did not look appealing at all.

Here on the recommendation of Terra from another place; although I am not so sure I made the right decision. “Barely” a décor. Sparse. Older clientele with their own menu. Had the MeatLoaf dinner which at $ 14.99 was more “loaf” than “meat”. Bland. Expensive. Poor Value. Although I did have pleasant service on a rainy day with not too much else to do….

Friendly service, real, homemade food! Portions were generous and the gravy on the Poutine was excellent! Turkey sandwich was legit turkey, not deli meat and the coleslaw was great! Menu is limited but everything was really good! Lots of locals when we went which speaks volumes about how good it is! Fern our waitress was warm and made us feel really welcome! Would go back again if in the area.

If you ever and Saint John, you must stop at Island girls restaurant. There are two rooms of seating and many staff to ensure the best service. It has a broad selection of choices sure to please anyone. I bring my parents, friends, and coworkers there all the time and they always deliver. Great staff. Great food. Great atmosphere. And look how cute the hamburger platter is. 🥹

I’ve here a couple times and the food is always good. All fresh food. The price is fair and the service is always great. If you’re looking for home style meal then this is it. I went recently and had their egg Benedict, and it was honestly the best ones I have had in a long time! Definitely worth a try.

They do a very good breakfast. They do great diner food of all sorts. And they have the best coconut cream pie anywhere in the province. If I was to suggest improvements - it would be nice to have it a bit cooler in there in the summer months (ie some more AC) and some more comfortable chairs would be swell. But these are just friendly suggestions. It's a wonderful stop.

Good home cooking style. Very friendly service. Very clean restaurant. We arrived about 20 minutes before closing. The staff were very welcoming and we didn't feel rushed at all. We would go back.

What a hidden gem this is. We heard about this on the radio and decided to drive to the west side and give it a try WOW JUST WOW … Fantastic home style cooking like out of this world!! We had a hot Turkey sandwich it came with a pile of fries or onion rings and green peas thick fresh white bread stuffed with real turkey smothered in delicious gravy. It tasted like when I was a kid … the people across from us took one look at ours, ordered exactly the same thing and couldn’t say enough about it!! They have all day breakfasts and too die for desserts everything HOMEMADE …. a must if you live here or are visiting. DINERS DRIVE-INS AND DIVES NEED TO COME TO THIS PLACE.
