Lovely little pub that may be bigger than it appears. Very welcoming staff. Lots of beers on tap and a very wide variety. We went on trivia night and the host was excellent. Bathroom is upstairs. Great location if you are staying at one of...the bigger hotels.More

Just outside George STreet and the downtown area, and across from the arena, this place can be easily overlooked, but it's definitely worth stopping in. There was a good variety of beer on tap, great laid back service and atmosphere, and the food we ate...(pizza and quesadillas) was delicious. Not a very big place although it looks like there's an outdoor area outside worth checking out.More

Today, I went to that restaurant for lunch and got discriminated by an individual named Nick. This is the story: A. I asked for the menu to see what to eat. The bartender,Nick, asked me if I wanted something to drink, so I asked if...it was free because, in Asia and my country, they ask that questions to see if we are thirsty and to provide tea or a free drink before ordering. B. The bartender asked me several times if I had money to pay for the food. Professionally, you should never ask a customer if they have money because it is a form of insinuating that they are broke or ar homeless. It is offensive. Even a homeless person deserves respect. B1. He made me pay for the food in advance when people usually pay after they finish the meal and are ready to go. C. Since I had been eating chocolate, I asked where the bin was, walked to it, and got stopped by the bartender where I was going. It made me feel uncomfortable. D. Then, he grabbed the phone to take me photos or record me. E. Finally, he told me they were closing, so my would would be served to take it out . However, I saw more people coming in. F. He refused to listen to me and hear my feedback, kept telling me that it was time for me to leave. In a nutshell, I feel discriminated, judged, rejected, and unprofessionally treated. If they were gonna close, why didn't he say so right after I came? He cannot make negative assumptions just because I don't act according to his standards. He should see people with good lenses and stop being judgmental. He should stop treating people like rats. I don't know if he is the manager, but if he isn't, he should get fired.More

I am form PEI and my friend from NFLD. My first trip to the rock did not disappoint . We decided to go out and grab a bite and landed at the Newfoundland Embassy pub. As soon as you enter you know it’s going to...be good. You get a great feeling just being there. Doesn’t matter if you’re 18 or 98,! Good times! Nile , co owner with his brother, greeted us a warm NFLD welcome. We asked what’s great, he said pizza was pretty great. He was right,! Everything is homemade, even the pizza sauce. Excellent! I had a red wine, delish ….My friend doesn’t drink, so Nile surprised her with a non alcoholic drink called pineapple crush. She ordered 2! We both highly recommend this fantastic place to eat and just have a great time! Keep up the great work Nile and his brother(sorry, we didn’t get his name)More

A cozy little pub that has everything I'm looking for. Good atmosphere, tasty food, live music and a place where you can hear each other talk. To top it off a very friendly bartender that remembers your drink when you show up a second time....He also took the time to write down a list of things to do when in NL ....and we completed all of them. Highly recommend!More

What a nice place to gather with friends. You won't get lost in a crowd and get separated from your group. It's a laid back, chilled bar. The live entertainment is great too. I loved the bartenders they are always interacting with the customers

I have to go with five stars for this review. I had no idea what to expect of this place and was pleasantly surprised. The menu is small but each thing I tried was delicious! The sandwiches, the nachos, the soup, the potato skins, the...pizza-- our table really had it all. Furthermore, the service was prompt and super friendly. Definitely recommend!More

Don’t be put off by the limited menu. Everything is house made so they can’t offer the range other places can. The chicken Caesar my wife had was superior, and my hot roast beef sandwich was made with artisanal bread. The potato skins were very...good, tough I prefer less potato, more skin. Be sure to sample a Lars custard cone for dessert, and ask them about Lars and the fruit market. Great story.More

Conveniently located right across the street from it, this pub gets very busy when there are events happening at Mile One. It is quite small with very limited seating but the ambiance is great with an extremely friendly staff. The menu is not large but...the food is delicious and comes in generous portions. They also offer a great selection of beers and the famous "Lars" Custard cones.More

The downstairs is small, cosy and friendly (didn’t check out the upstairs). The menu is small but they have big selection of local, national and international beers and good home made food (23 beers on tap). The potato skins were very good. Nice big windows...with lots of light. Great sound track of Newfoundland music. The server checked in a few times to see if I needed anything. The custard cone is a must-try: similar to soft serve but made with real egg yolk for a denser, richer, more delicious flavour. You’ll never go back to soft serve again!More

Greta little pub in the centre of St. John’s. A must place to visit while in “town”. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are comparative to other pubs in the area. Food is absolutely delicious with huge portion sizes. Charming atmosphere with live music on...the weekends and busier seasons.More
