**If you find this review helpful, please let us know by clicking the like button below! Thank you!** We were seated promptly by Doug our server and also a manager! Extremely interested in our having a good time during the visit - what a change...from other restaurants! Our drink order was taken and promptly served exactly as ordered! Specials were presented to us and our orders were taken. Our appetizers were served in a very timely manner. Scallops and a Stuffed Squid and Homemade bread all were very good! Entre of Lobster Rigatoni (GREAT), Chicken Fettucini (GREAT), Blackened Salmon (GREAT) and Duo Duck (SUPERB). No Room for deserts from anyone! This was one of the very best dinners we all have had here in St. John's and the service from Doug was over the top! We cannot say enough how much we all liked this restaurant!More

Probably our best dinner during 6 days in St. John’s (although Oliver’s was a close second). Very nice ambiance, excellent food and just the right amount of attention from our server. The mussels were delicious (and a large portion) as was the seafood pasta.

The patio had a great vibe. We had the seafood chowder and fish & chips. The seafood chowder could easily have been the best chowder we had on our entire trip. There was a lot more seafood in it than expected. The bread that came...with it was delicious. The fish was deep fried with a thin batter. The chips were flavorful as well.More

Had what I would consider one of the better meals I have had in downtown St. John's. My wife has the duck duo, I had the beef curry. From start to finish, service was top notch and food was excellent. Highly recommend!

If it was an option, I'd give it a 4.5 as I have minor complaints. One is the noise level from larger groups. The table of 8 next to us with everyone raising their voice to just below shouting was a bit off putting (and...probably not something the owners can do much about). Second, it is a bit dark inside. It wasn't so much that I need to use my phone light to see but close. And they turned the light lower while we were there so it might have required the light then. But the food was good. We did find the Tuna Tataki app a bit dry (but favorable). Both our dishes were ample sized servings. Cajun Chicken Fettuccine did have pretty much a full breast of chicken. The salad with the Chicken Skewer was an authentic Greek salad (without all the lettuce). They have a full bar with several in-house cocktails that looked inviting. Nice wine menu with a couple of by-the-glass options.More

Food excellent, service outstanding. Nice ambience with large tables and comfortable seating. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because we were seated in the darkest booth - I couldn’t properly see my food, which really detracts from my visual and overall experience....I mentioned it and our waiter tried to amplify one of the overhead ceiling bulbs and brought a tiny candle to our table. Nice try, but didn’t have much effect. What puzzled me is the restaurant was not busy at all at 5:00 and we should have just been given a brighter table. Next time!More

Firstly, Service is top notch. Some food is great I'm sure. I wasn't feeling super hungry so I decided on a light lunch with a friend and a pint. I ordered the summer salad, described on the menu quite deliciously with exceptional ingredients. It was...20$. Shredded lettuce, some corn, some black beans, some taco bits on top, honestly probably the most depressing and limp salad I've ever seen at that price point. I should of taken a picture, but I'll assume if management sees this they know exactly what I'm talking about because they price the menu items. Unfortunately I was enjoying my drinks with my friend, and my server was lovely, so I decided to pay, tip and leave without talking to management about this overpriced, weak menu item. I mentioned it to the server and she said "I completely agree, this is not a $20 salad." Take it as you will, but I certainly will not be returning for any of their salad options in the future. Maybe next time just for a pint and we will eat somewhere where the quality of food is at least representative of the price. Don't be greedy, just simply serve fresh quality food at a price point that makes sense, instead of trying to take advantage of the summer tourism season and walking mall on Water St.More

We loved our meal at the Gypsy Tea Room. We had an appetizer of scallops - the scallops were cooked perfectly and the cauliflower purée with the pesto made it extra delicious! We had the duo of duck - both preparations were so good -...both were tasty and meat was tender. We also had the cod - so yummy with the split pea sauce and the hash! We would highly recommend this restaurant!More

The Gypsy tearoom had an excellent menu. I enjoyed the chef's special of large mussels. I was a full meal -- not just an appetizer. My friends were impressed by the extensive wine list. I enjoyed by the food, friendly staff and service. We had...a big group with reservations but many of us arrived late because of delayed flights. The staff was open and welcoming to latecomers. There was no hurry and everyone loved their seafood: mussels, scallops, calamari, and the cajun sea food chowder. Big portions were fresh with local ingredients and delicious.More
