Best food in St. John's, without a doubt. Our go-to when friends and family visit the island. Healthy, delicious, and the most wonderful service you will ever receive! Takeout is good, but would definitely recommend eating in for the full experience :)
I am not vegan or vegetarian, but I was looking for somewhere different for my brief visit to St. John's. We visited for lunch and were one of the first to arrive for lunch, which gave us a nice opportunity to chat with the owner,...who is a charming and very interesting man. Even before ordering we were served soup with green tea and homemade sauces to go with our meal. The portions are very substantial and incredible value for money. This restaurant is well-situated on Duckworth Street, within walking distance of lots of interesting shopping, etc. The restaurant is fairly small and the tables fill up fast, so I would recommend arriving close to opening time. I will definitely come here again, and would highly recommend to anyone.More
Wonderful food and genuine hospitality. Love the authentic sauces. I’m not vegan but this place is definitely one of the best restaurants in this city. I would recommend to anyone and plan to come here over and over again. Just fabulous.
Number 1 in St Johns on trip advisor but can’t truly compare this wonderful Asian food experience with traditional New Foundland cuisine which is also found in fabulous local restaurants. However it is delicious, different, cheap and plentiful
My husband and I visited The Peaceful Loft for lunch. The owner was very attentive and sweet and the food was amazing. Very flavourful and generous portions.
Coming from a part of Canada with Chinese restaurants, vegan and non vegan, in every corner, I was hesitant to come all the way to St. John's to eat Chinese food. The restaurant was only doing take out as they were busy, but the owner...still was very kind and attentive, giving us advice on what to order and advising us of the portion sizes. He warned us of a long wait but we gave it a shot anyways. The portion size was generous and our takeout bag was generously packed with complimentary sauces, fruit, and soup. The curry sauce was great and the beet soup was something I had never tried before. Although we did not dine in... I read some reviews complaining about the dishes arriving at different times- it is because in Chinese cuisine we usually share all the dishes and eat as they come. Perhaps it was the dishes that we ordered but they couls use a bit more flavour and I personally am not a fan of all the ginger. But given the great service and the amazing sauces I will totally give the other dishes a try.More
Wow, fantastic food all home-made. Possibly the best I have ever tasted. Amazing hospitality. Owner greeted us with soup of the day, amazing sauces and Green Tea. We wilħ be DEFINITELY coming here again

We loved this restaurant. There are only a few tables but we went mid afternoon so we were able to get a table immediately. As soon as we sat down the owner immediately put food in front of us and poured green tea. Since it...was our first visit the owner recommended a couple of dishes. They were absolutely delicious. The flavor was amazing. Would highly recommend visiting this restaurant to either eating in or taking out. You will be very happy you did.More
It's rated #1 in St. John's - and rightly so. Reasonably priced, attentive service and fresh food prepared with love and care. Spring rolls were especially nice. Fresh vegetables (and nicely ripened fresh pineapple) and homemade sauces make their food outstanding. None of us are...vegans but we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Plenty to eat!More
Went on our first night in St. John’s. Loved it so much we went again two nights later. We’re not vegetarians. It’s just that good. Peaceful Loft is a literal Mom and Pop restaurant, with no employees whatsoever. Pop greets you and immediately pours you...hot tea and soup. There is no drink menu we could find, just Pop visiting every couple minutes to insist we drink more of the delicious tea and share stories about his kids and growing up in Macau. Everything we tried was the best version of it we’ve ever tasted. Mom’s Singapore noodles, our favorite when living in NYC and LA, was intensely flavored with dry curry, spices, and just the right kick. Many of the dishes are made with their homemade faux meats. They don’t taste exactly like fried chicken or ham or pork or beef, but the texture is surprisingly close and they’re delicious in their own way. Our favorite was the chicken. We can’t recommend Peaceful Loft enough. But make sure you get there early. Only 4 tables, and it takes them hours to clean and close up at the end of the day, so they were strict about not taking any new customers after 7pm. They also do a brisk takeout business.More
A fiend took us out to lunch at the Peaceful Loft on Duckworth Street today. It was the best restaurant experience I’ve had in awhile. Food was fresh, delicious and plentiful and the service was excellent. The owner was welcoming and quick to refill our...green tea and sauces. This is by far the best restaurant in town, 10/10 food with 10/10 service! I recommend to everyone to try it! I’ve been a consistent customer for months and I’ve never been left down :)
