Ok, I am a big beer fan; I love a good beer, especially a nice craft brew with some colour and body. When I looked at the Church Brewing menu I did not know what to try; everything was described as tasting like some sort of fruit. I do not like beer that is flavoured with fruit - that is NOT beer to me. Give me a nice English ale or a nice porter please. Our server was not so much help, I do not think she was a real beer drinker. I tried a couple of their offerings and although I was not taken with the first one, the German Porter was quite good. I did not taste the fruit they described it with.
Now the food was much better. I had the Ribs and a 1/2 rack was HUGE, and very good. The Caesar salad served with it was also good. My wife had the Pad Thai and she reports it was also excellent. Then came the big surprise . . . . cheesecake that was dairy free and Vegan . . . how can "Cheese" cake be vegan? I am lactose Intolerant and can not eat cow cheese, but this cheese cake was enjoyed for sure.
Our server was good, checking on us frequently and arranged a unique payment procedure for us so my daughter could remotely pay for her mom's Birthday meal. Overall a very positive experience.

Thank you for your review. It's always good to hear about people's experience. We like to describe our beer based on tasting notes, ingredients used and how it's brewed. In fact, only one of our products actually uses fruit. The method of brewing with different yeast, hops and malt is what actually can provide fruit-like characteristics to the profiles. Really glad you liked our German Porter. We do try to have something for everyone.

Social distancing is strictly observed. The servers wear masks, and there are clear markings on the floor; tables are well-spaced. Fried broccoli was gobbled up and the salad with fresh fruit and goat cheese and candied nuts was yummy. The Pad Thai was delicious even though it really didn't taste like a Pad Thai in the traditional sense. The sangria and blood orange marguerita hit the spot for sure and the beer was okay too. Looks like the space for live entertainment would be "rock'in" if it weren't for Covid 19. Worth a visit for sure just for the atmosphere.

Enjoyed a lovely meal with some friends last evening at The Church. The restaurant was recommended by a friend who lives in the area and certainly did not disappoint. The haddock bites, pretzels, Ginger Beef and Caprese Bacon sandwich were particularly tasty. Our beers, cocktails and the atmosphere on the deck on a warm summers night made a great dinner even better.

Church Brewing was a wonderful find in the midst of pandemic when we were starved for interesting fare and a pub's social atmosphere. Our ginger bowl and pad Thai were exceptional, garnished with fresh herbs and lime slices, and of such quality that we might have expected to pay a much higher price. We finished with sticky toffee pudding and panna cotta, both delicious and beautifully presented at reasonable prices, again for much less than we have paid elsewhere in Canada for the same quality. And the beer was delicious! The setting offered the open floor plan of a traditional pub without being noisy, even though the place was quite busy for a Sunday evening. Our server was friendly without being intrusive. We had a lovely time and plan to visit again in the spring.

I went with family when they first opened and we were all disappointed with the food we were served. This saddened us because we so much wanted them to excell. I went back with a friend on 1 Oct, 2020 so she could see the beautiful building and hoping that after the time lapse that the food might have improved. No luck at all. My friend had chowder which she said was good but she was surprised there were none of the shell fish ingredinets that were listed in on menu. I ordered the two piece fish and chips. Disaster. The fish was so very dry, I could have choked on it. The chips appeared to have been refried a time or two while waiting for a customer. Why? I don't know. We arrived there about 11:45 so they were just opening. They should have been fresh. I feel like kicking myself for not voicing my complaint on the spot but we had Jordon as a waiter and, I didn't want to start his day off with a complaint. I hiope the management sits down unexpectantly some day and samples what is being served.

Jordan is a lovely person who would have gladly found a manager to take care of your concerns. Although we understand not everyone is comfortable doing so. We always prefer to apologize and do what we can to make your time with us a great experience in person! So sorry to hear you did not enjoy your experience with us. We will be sure to bring this to the kitchens' attention. We have also just today revamped our menu to be as seasonal and fresh as possible. We will look into cook times on the fish and fries to make sure they satisfy! We appreciate your feedback!

Waited 45 minutes in beer garden before we could be seated outside, once seated we waited almost one hour before getting our food. We thought we would take something simple as we had waited almost 2 hours, We decided fish and chips would be a simple lunch but when we got our food, the fish was dry, over cooked, fries were horrible and we had a tablespoon full of coleslaw, needless to say we will not be back there. We were very disappointed as we had heard very good things about this restaurant.

Sorry you didn't have the experience we strive to give each customer! It's true, being such a busy restaurant can result in long wait times to get a table, but we do apologize for the amount of time it took to receive your food, especially considering it wasn't up to par once you got your order. I took my sister-in-law and her husband who were visiting from Liverpool for dinner to what I thought would be a very interesting and historic place.
Boy! Was I wrong! The restaurant was so cold, I kept my jacket over my shoulders.
I had the Crispy Broccoli for my appetizer, and it tasted like it was fried in months old oil.
I had the Fire Roasted Vegetable & Quinoa salad. The quinoa tasted as if it had been sitting on the counter for hours, it was lumpy and cold. There was hardly any corn & kale, nor cranberries & walnuts. Basically I got cold lumpy quinoa with lots of sweet potatoes :(
My husband had the Fish & Chips. The batter so thick, it wasn't cooked through and through. Plus the fish was very dry, definitely not fresh!
The restaurant was extremely dirty. There were cobwebs around the door which we were sitting by, and also cobwebs in the restroom.
I DO NOT recommend!
There are much much better restaurants around the valley than this one!!

We are so sorry that you did not enjoy your time with us. As far as the food goes, we will be sure to notify our kitchen team about your feedback. I would like to mention however, that our oil is cleaned daily and all of our food is prepared fresh daily - but it is important that our guests enjoy the food so we will take extra care in the preparation of our dishes. We also have very stringent cleaning guidelines and our restaurant is cleaned every morning as well as throughout each day. We apologize that our level of cleaniless was not up to your standard and we will make sure to look for cobwebs more closely during our cleaning. We thank you for letting us know. When my friends and I decided to visit this establishment I was very excited, visually the church structure is beautiful, and the outside grounds are lovely but Beyond that my experience was disappointing.
We attend with some friends, it took a while for our server to take our order (we had three different servers during our visit), it took over an hour to receive our food once order, The portion/quality/presentation versus the price they charge is not justified.
My husband‘s was able to finish his phantom wrap ($16) in 4 bites he also stated it was dry, the fries were overcooked and hard he was unable to eat them.
The Fudgsicle tartlet ($10) sounded delicious in the description, when I received it was visually unappealing, and inedible. I was not able to use the spoon that was provided because the dessert was a solid freezer burnt disk, with crystallization on it, I was even unable to cut it with a knife and fork! this should’ve never been presented for consumption, I would’ve rather you told me it was unavailable!
unfortunately I will not be returning to try again, my first experience has made this my last experience!

Thanks for letting us know. We do have lots of service staff to help keep things running smoothly, so it’s not uncommon to see more than one person at a table. As for the food, we will be sure to relay your comments to our kitchen manager- apologies you did not enjoy, I hope you told one of the staff who assisted your table- we would always offer some new to ensure you left happy!

We love going to this place! The food is very tasty. The Fried Chicken sandwich is messy but delicious (❤️ the bun), the Risotto is very flavourful- can’t wait to get it again. My husband says the ribs are just ok, but he makes his own often and is a bit fussy 😉. I haven’t tried the church burger but 2 others in our group said it was delicious. I love that they use local ingredients! The pretzels are very filling, so make sure you share, and the beer and cocktails were enjoyed by all. The service was excellent and although it’s loud, the ambiance is unique and we love that it still looks like a church.

We were a party of three and visited for lunch. We ordered two burgers with fries and the chicken sandwich with Caesar salad. The meat on the burger didn’t taste as though it was seasoned and the fries were over cooked and cold, as though they had been sitting out for quite some time. The chicken in the chicken burger was also over cooked and stringy. The Caesar salad was good.
On the plus side, the congregation beer was really good! The atmosphere is excellent and the inside of the building is beautiful. There is a really big outdoor patio for nice days. We had really good service.
There was a lineup to get in, so expect a wait.

I ate here with my partner in the fall of 2020, we both had the Buttermilk Southern Chicken Sandwich. It was delicious. BUT we went this month after the lockdown and brought his parents for a belated birthday.
After hyping up this sandwich and getting them pumped to enjoy an amazing sandwich we were severely disappointed with the change in menu. The Chicken sandwich no longer has that satisfying crunch or mouth watering taste.
I don’t know why they tried to fix something that wasn’t broken but with all the restaurant choices in Wolfville The Church Brewing is low on the list for a revisit.
I hope they realize their mistake and bring back the original chicken sandwich.
While sitting and waiting for our chicken sandwiches a couple that came in after us received their appetizer and meals before we were given ours. This isn’t abnormal but was upsetting when ours arrived and the Fries were cold when they reached the table. We felt like they were sitting for sometime before our server had time to deliver them.
When we asked the server if they changed the menu she said no. We later googled the menu and realized that they indeed did change the menu and what made the chicken sandwich so delicious. A little peeved that the server lied to us about the changes.
Service is slow, but they’re busy from opening to close and we expected that and planned for it.
The ambiance of the restaurant is cute and neat, we enjoyed the environment very much.

Hi there! Thank you for your honest review. I am glad to hear you enjoyed the ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant, although we wish your experience with our food was different! We do change our menu seasonally based on locally sourced offerings, however our southen chicken sandwich has always been on the menu and we have not changed this particular item. Having said that, your first experience with our chicken sandwich was obvioulsy much better than the last, and cold fries shouldn't be served at a table. We certainly apologize for this. We will be sure to relay this information to our kitchen staff in an effort to ensure each plate that goes out is consistent - consistency is key! Again, apologies for your experience with us.

The indoor seating is really cool because it's inside a repurposed church but this time we sat outside on a 29 degree sunny summer day. The outdoor seating is really nice.
The server was excellent in every way.
The church burger was more than enough for a meal - and delicious. The sesame soba noodles (with chicken) were a taste sensation; the noodles are cold, but don't let that throw you off - the chicken is warm. There's a little spiciness and the flavours overall are very very well put together.
The beers were great, we got a flight and a congregation. Go for the meal, stay for the beer!
The chocolate vegan cashew cake was really good. Somebody in their kitchen knows what they're doing!
The cost of this whole meal was $69.61, including taxes, before tip.
I've been here twice and we've never ordered the same thing twice and always been very happy. That's why we keep coming back!

I was looking forward to eating at this establishment. It was the church my family attended back in the day so I was anxious to give it a try.
The wait to get in wasn’t long. Once inside I was impressed with what had been done to transform this beautiful church into a restaurant.
Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience. I ordered coffee but was told someone forgot to pick up cream that day so there was no coffee cream.The food took a very long time to arrive . The fries were cold and rubbery and the burger cold and cooked to death. When asked, we did share our disappointment with our server. He offered another meal, but by then we had waited to long and weren’t up for another 45 minutes. We were not charged for our meal which we appreciated. However, we would have preferred to enjoy and pay for a delicious, hot lunch .

I am baffled that this place has good reviews. I went last month for date night. Ok- atmosphere is awesome. Service is also good. Would recommend to anyone looking for a place to chill and have some drinks. But this is a restaurant and I can honestly say that I was served the worst food imaginable and won't be returning. Had the pretzels for an appetizer. But they were really just very stale rolls. Odd dipping sauces that weren't good and they didn't even have sea salt on them. My Caesar salad also left me confused. Caesar with kale and Romano cheese? The croutons were what really made me laugh. They weren't crunchy. They kind of fell apart into grains on Sand in your mouth- dry but not crunchy. Just yucky. Next I received my chicken burger that was nothing short of burnt to a crisp. Need I say more? Its sad that they dont care enough to just check what is coming out of their kitchen. I mean it was literally the worst food I've ever been served in a restaurant. Mind blowing when you walk into such a beautiful place.

We are thankful you enjoyed our atmosphere and service, but the food should have been just as great. Our chicken sandwich and ceasar salad are some of our top sellers and it's too bad yours didn't live up to their reputation! We stayed in Wolfville last weekend and went here on Friday evening. We loved it so much we came back Saturday for lunch! Our server was super friendly and did a great job of recommending food and drink. It was very busy during both visits but all seemed to go really smoothly considering. We had the southen chicken sandwich (YUM) with a quinao salad (also yum). My BF had a burger and really enjoyed it as well. The crispy brocolli was SO GOOD and our beer and cocktails were delicious. The atmosphere was fantastic. Can't wait to come back when the patio opens! Highly recommend. I was a tad skepitcal because some reveiws on here weren't great, which is why I decided to leave my own because we had the best expereince we've had in a while. It's busy for a reason!
