We stopped in Antigonish on the way to the Cabot Trail. We decided on the Brownstone for lunch. It was very busy. We sat inside because the outdoor patio was to full capacity. I ordered the beet salad and the 5 cheese pizza, both were very good especially the pizza, it was delicious! My partner ordered the grilled vegetable panini and the soup of the day. The veggie panini was very good however he didn’t like the taste of the tomato soup as it had a smoky flavour to it. The service was slow, we waited at least 30mins for our food but again it was busy that day. I would go back just for the pizza and veggie panini, because they were both delicious.

We decided to go into downtown Antigonish. Nice University Town. Great dat to sit out on Patio. Food and Service outside on patio by our waitress was excellent. Great Home made Soup , and the Egg Salad Sandwiches were very filling. Would definitely eat here again.

We breezed into town at the last minute and the waitstaff graciously made room for the 3 of us. We were blown away by the service and the food. The smoked tomato soup was perfection. We could have stopped there, but someone else ordered the smokey chowder (I had my doubts) which was divine. I can't keep saying divine but the pan fried halibut was the best we had in the 2 weeks in Nova Scotia. The place was shortstaffed, as many are right now, but the folks working kept touching base and making sure we were ok for drinks and nibbles until the meal arrived. Don't miss this place!

Pleasant staff adhering to covid protocols. Conveniently located downtown and close to the university.
The bruschetta sliced bread was amply toasted but was too heavy with canned tomatoes and cheese. Lacked flavor. Would have been better presented as small crusty slices with less toppings .
The seafood casserole was ok served with a very good basmatic rice.

Do not expect fast service, correct order on your food and everything over salted. We started with the Lobster and Spinach Dip. It looked nice, but the Mornay Cheese was a rather "goopy and flat tasting" affair and their idea of toast points was over salted triangles of a species of flat bread. A family emergency popped up, so we asked our servers to put our orders of Lobster and Pasta and an order of Clam Linguini as a Take-out. We got back home and we found a Styrofoam Cup and plastic lid with Clam Cream Sauce, but nary a sign of Linguini anywhere, and the sauce was too salty. My husband and I split his order of Lobster, etc. It was good, but then again, too damn salty. My face and ankles are going to swell up from all the salted food I nibbled at tonight. So if you are on a salt free or restricted diet, BEWARE!

We enjoyed our lunch at the Brownstone restaurant. We sat outside on their patio as it was a lovely day. The interior and exterior were very quaint, clean and had a nice rustic/ warm vibe that we enjoyed. The service was quick but not rushed. They had a great menu with so many delicious sounding options especially their burgers. We opted for one of their wraps and salad, as well as the Reuben sandwich with fries. Portions were large. The only small suggestion for either meal was to not fill them with so much sauerkraut and spinach, it was a little on the heavy side compared to the other fillings.
Drinks were great as well, the brownstone Caesar was delicious and used locally made vodka from Steinharts Distillery which is in Antigonish county however along the shore.

While traveling through Antigonish to Cape Breton, we stopped here and enjoyed a wonderful lunch. The tables were spaced apart appropriately and the atmosphere was pleasant. Our server, Molly, was very friendly and attentive. We had the Reuben Panini with a side of the soup of the day (potato, corn and bacon chowder) and the Downtown Grilled Cheese with a side salad. Everything was delicious! We will definitely return anytime we are in Antigonish!

My gf and I were looking for places to eat since I'm gf and she's vegan. We looked at their menu and decided that it had a great variety of items to choose from so we decided to try them out. We were VERY glad that we did. My dinner was turned into a gf chicken nachos and their soup of the day (mushroom) was also gf and both were delicious. If I get back to Nova Scotia, I will definitely stop in their restaurant again and they had gf bread and desserts but the lady that did the individual ones had left for the day sadly. My gf had their pizza and was happy with it.

I ordered the bruschetta and was very disappointed. It was pretty much garlic toast with canned tomato and melted cheese. There was barely any balsamic drizzle. I also ordered the mussels. The mussel sauce had something that looked like gelatin in it. I am not sure why but it was not appetizing. The menu sounds amazing but the food is not worth the price.

My husband, daughter and I had the chicken parmingian. We really enjoyed the white sauce that was on the pasta. My son had the pulled pork sandwich but was disappointed in the size and taste. He really loves pulled pork. Our server was friendly. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the scenery of downtown Antigonish.

I live outside Antigonish and this is the only place I enjoy eating in Antigonish. Joan and her staff are welcoming, attentive and ensure all customers enjoy a wonderful experience at the Brownstone. A few weeks ago six of us were in Antigonish (from all over the province) and enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Brownstone. I love how the menu offers something for everyone at such a reasonable price. We love the decor and the beautiful patio. As usual, we received wonderful service and attention. This is truly one of the best places to go when in Antigonish. Everything about the Brownstone makes it one of our favorite stops! If you haven't been there yet, you need to go!! The best!

I had the salmon miso burger with a beet salad and my husband had the Reuben with sweet potato fries. My salmon was cooked absolutely perfect and was very delicious. The beet salad was awesome as well. My only complaint was the bun for the salmon burger became quite soggy and fell apart after a bit but other than that it was very good. My husband enjoyed his meal as well. I didn’t try his sandwich but his sweet potato fries were perfectly crispy (I hate when you order them and they are soggy). Our waitress was friendly and attentive. All in all a great visit!

Thank you for taking the time to leave us this feedback. We apprecaite it so much. We're so happy you enjoyed everything. That soggy burger bun is a hard one to combat with that tasty miso sauce.

We made a road trip not long after restaurants re-opened. This was a lovely patio on Main Street in Antigonish.
Service was very pleasant and relaxed. Tables were spaced apart appropriately.
I had the lobster roll and my partner had fish and chips. Both were very fresh. Fries were hot and fresh. Restaurant was clean and well maintained. It was nice to "people watch" from the patio.
Lunch with 1 beer and 1 soft drink and 2 coffees was just under $60 before tip.
We would recommend and would return.

Not many restaurants are open on a Monday night in Antigonish, but the Brownstone would be a good choice any night of the week. It is a cozy homey space which plays soft rock and offers good relaxed service. I had the mac 'n cheese with a salad while my dining companion had an Italian sausage and fennel pizza. Both were delicious and prices reasonable. We washed this down with excellent Nova Scotia craft beer. Dinners at neighbouring tables also seemed very happy with their choices (mussels, hamburger). Recommended for an affordable and pleasant night out!

Centrally located and well kept. Good selection of dishes, but if you're craving lamb you're out of luck. Servers are friendly and helpful; when I said I wasn't enjoying the wine I had ordered, it was quietly taken away and replaced with something better. Our entrees were tasty and reasonable in size and price. Reservations not accepted.
