EVANS FRESH SEAFOODS AND RESTAURANT, Dartmouth

We had fried clams overlooking the harbour and it couldn't of been better. They were cooked perfectly and were a good size. It's a small market place with a great seafood menu. Great service too. We will be back.

Delicious Gluten Free Seafood

This place just keeps getting better and expanding their menu to cater to celiacs and those with allergies. Even during the busiest times the staff are so professional and the food is quick. Great place for families!

Best seafood restaurant in Dartmouth

Lived my whole life in Nova Scotia and I am VERY fussy about my seafood. Evans is one of the best in Dartmouth. The seafood is always fresh, the fish is not heavily battered and greasy, the seafood chowder is delicious with a very generous...amount of seafood. The small size chowder is very filling and a real bargain at $10 inc. a roll. I also love their spicy fish burgers. YUM! My husband had lobster poutine and he loved it. They also have quite a few gluten free items ...not an issue for me, but I know it is for many. One of the tests for fish and chips to me is "are the fries hand-cut or frozen?"...theirs are hand cut. I love that the fish is not encased in 3 inches of greasy batter. Evan's is my also my favourite spot for fish and chips. The other great place for chowder is The Canteen around the corner (pricier but very, very good). I just read a review from 2018 of Evan's ...WOW I could not disagree more. The reviewer recommends John's Lunch and Pleasant St. diner. These places are for people who value quantity over quality. So if you need huge portions of food, you like frozen french fries and big greasy battered fish...then yes, those places would fit the bill.More

Not very good

Just got fish and chips today , I ordered over the phone. They should at least tell you that the fish and chips is frozen cod. It’s pretty bad, the fries were good. That’s why I gave them a one.

Great fish!

Great little gem serving some really good fish. Friendly, reasonable prices and pretty quick service. Not sure if everything is gluten free but seems as if most of the menu items are. We have ordered the fish and chips many times, always happy with the...food. Based just on the food, I would gladly recommend.More

Ok

Food was ok,,but I found the fish batter a little under cooked.More like a cafeteria style place.If your looking for a nice sit sown wait on you place..Look somewhere else

Well worth the visit

We tried it today based on recommendations in the "Ask Nova Scotia" facbook group which has over 25k in membership. There were quite a few recommendations for Even's so we travelled up from Chester Grant to give it a try. I had two piece fish...and chips, and the wife had two piece with garden salad. All I can say is the trip was worth it. This was our first visit but it won't be the last.More

Excellent fish and chips!

This place has delicious fish and chips. We love coming on Saturday during the market and listening to music as well. The service is also good. They also have the best fresh scallops - I always try to get a package on Wednesdays before they...are sold out!More

Great Seafood and Staff

We were exploring for seafood and found the best in Halifax on a Saturday afternoon in November. The crew there are fun and engaging. We cracked open some oysters and enjoyed them fresh as we gathered around. Unbelievable, the taste was like the ocean itself,...meaty and full of flavor. Some of the best I have ever had including, Alaska, Vancouver, Florida Keys, and Asia. Most important we had fun with the staff, they were all good natured and very friendly. We brought home some PEI mussels from northern NS and had them steamed with craft cider.More

Great gluten-free find in Dartmouth!

Evan’s is able to accommodate a gluten-free diet and is celiac safe. Their food is absolutely delicious. Located inside the ferry terminal, we were there on a Saturday while the farmer’s market was set up. Live entertainment capped off our delicious lunch. We tried the...fish and chips, clams and chips, lobster poutine and fish cakes. All delicious, especially the fresh cut fries.More
