I am sorry it was the first time and the last time, the waitress started out good, but then she took her time, it took about 25 mins, for our food, we just started and she asks how it was. we really did,t have time...to taste it . The fish was cooked on the outside but the batter was so.... not cooked on the inside . We had to get up to go pay for our order, after waiting too long again, I mention to the waitress and she said I should have said something, well how could I she did not come back, till I got up to pay, she wanted my name and phone number, to give me a deal the next time I come back, I told her I would not be back. If you want to do something you should do it right there to please your customers, I did pay for my bill in full, LOOK AFTER YOUR CUSTOMERS ASP, NOT WIAIT FOR THEM TO COME BACK THAT IS WHY YOU GUYS ARE GETTING BAD REVIEWSMore

My partner and I visited with her elderly Mother. We were seated quickly, but that was the only expedient part of the evening. We waited for even a drink order for about 20 minutes. After taking our order for drinks we waited another 15 minutes...for them to be delivered. At one point our server walked by carrying a tray and remarked, "Oh, I see your drinks are ready. I'll be right back. It took another 6 minutes to see them. Our food order was taken and the next wait followed. A table of two were seated behind us. They received their drinks and food and were almost finished before our food arrived. The three orders, a Lamb Burger, Fish & Chips and their signature dish, a Boxty, all arrived by a different server. They never returned until we were done eating. If someone would have inquired as to our food we were waiting to tell them that the Lamb Burger and fries were cold and the fish & chips were warm at best. The Boxty was hot. Almost like they made them one at a time and left them sit on a counter while the rest was being made. While our server was pleasant and friendly, the service was extraordinarily slow and most of the food not hot. We did mention the fact that the food wasn't great to our server, but that fact was not even acknowledged or an apology offered. That will be the last dollar they ever see from us!More

Friendly staff, excellent menu options, very tasty. Future expansion in the works to accommodate those attracted to this quality pub.

Even with Covid distancing the place was packed. Hence it was very noisy (but then it was noisy last time we were there, maybe 2 years ago, and it was way less busy then). Server was attentive and accurate. Drinks were fine. Hand sanitizer was...on every table. Menu looked pretty good, but average on arrival. * lamb burger was thin on lamb. Spinach salad was fresh. * veg burger was a bit dry, could have been improved with mushrooms. Fries were soft. * upside-down shepherds pie was disappointing, and barely lukewarm. Potatoes were good. (our Server did take it off the bill) * toffee pudding was very tasty - and scalding hot. Overall, we were expecting better.More

Was at Finbars yesterday and the food was terrible. I had the classic burger which was hard as a rock and very overcooked. I had a Caesar sala which hadno taste at all. I have been here before and the food was just ok. I...won't be back.More

Recently, our relatively small party of six was conducting a Cole Harbour Pub crawl with Finbar`s being our first stop - our reception upon arrival was disappointing to say the least. We were told that there was live entertainment (which had not yet started) and...there was a cover charge. We tried to explain that we were stopping for one drink but no matter - our reasoning fell on deaf ears. So we departed and gave our business to the other local establishments. I will add that Big Leagues had an amazing Band at no cost!! I am confused - are they a pub or Entertainment Venue. Although I typically visit once or twice a month for a beverage, I have no intentions of returning.More

Four couples meet for dinner and live music at Finbar's. The food was great and the music was a great way to end the night off. Chief O'Neil made the best nachos and salmon ever! Great evening close to home!

Just returned from a disappointing experience at Finbar's in Portland Hills. We have been disappointed here before but not quite this badly. This evening, my daughter was served kraft dinner when she ordered mac 'n cheese for 9 dollars. The price is justified because it...comes with a side, drink and dessert but we were not offered either a drink or the dessert. We will not be back with our family.More

Sorry Greg, sounds like we missed a few chances to be great. I'll make sure to review this with our staff and hopefully you'll consider giving us another try someday.

My best friend and I connected here this evening after not having seen each other for awhile. We decided to sit outside as it was a beautiful fall evening. Tiffany was our server and she was attentive, prompt and courteous from the time she seated...us until we left. Food was amazing too (my friend had the lamb burger and I had Finbars classic burger). Great evening and I can’t emphasize enough how much good service makes eating out memorable! Thanks Tiffany!More

I have to begin with the service OMG, our server was Michelle but it seemed that all the servers or staff were there for the customer and worked as a team, like a well rehearsed dance! The service is AMAZING, the best! Our first visit...to Finbar's, so had no pre- conceived expectations. Lots of variety to the menu, good prices. We had onion rings (which were excellent) and a lamb burger and smokey cheeseburger, both great! We will definitely go back! Message to the owner - treat your staff well they are wonderful!!More

We went to Finbar's last night on a whim for a date night. The atmosphere was really fun, relaxed but nice. The music was great, it had us reminiscing and looking at pics of our tour of Ireland a few years back. The food was...excellent, we were both very happy with our meal. I had the pan fried haddock and my partner had the braised ribs. For dessert he had bread pudding and I had the brownie. The brownie was huge and very sweet, it was a bit of work to finish but very good. The wait staff were attentive and friendly, excellent meal all around! My favourite meal I've had in a while. There are lots of things on the menu I want to try. Will definitely be back again!More

Tried the nachos the other night and they were the worst I've ever had. They came with blobs of shredded onion, leech-like shaved mushrooms, bacon bits and crumpled up red pepper pieces. (I ordered the appetizer size, which doesn't have a description of what they...come with. This strange concoction is only listed on the menu under "mains", which I didn't discover until it was too late). Not only did my plate look like an appetizing mess, it tasted awful. I cannot fathom how they won "best nachos". Otherwise, the tuna peach soba bowl was tasty with the (seemingly new?) addition of grapefruit slices improving the flavor. No one offered my little guy a coloring sheet or anything else to do, but our food came out quickly. Service was friendly. I find the food here overpriced for what you get, but it's a handy location for us. They are still using plastic straws and take-away containers, which we are really trying to avoid.More
