We have been here several times and always had excellent experience. We had an 8. 15 pm reservation on Saturday 18th and upon arrival we were seated right away. The restaurant was moderately busy. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio, Ribs for appetizer, Halibut and Rib Eye for main course. It took almost half an hour for our appetizer to arrive and our wine was starting to get low. It would have made a big difference if there was something to snack on or if they do bread service. Ribs were really good. Halibut and steak arrived, Halibut was very well presented and tasted really good however the steak was a total disappointment. We ordered it medium and it came almost well done. We saw the steak people were having next table and it was thick and medium. Our steak was the size of a hamburger. Above all that, the sauce over steak was SUPREMELY salty. The fries were super salty, the 2000 island dressing came with the steak was super salty. I think in the kitchen, they should pay attention to consistency and reduce the sodium level to less than half of what they used in our dish. It was almost inedible. Our server was very friendly and I will give another chance sometime as all my previous experience have been awesome.

Eliot & Vine is one of those restaurants you find yourself going back to often. In the winter, the warm lighting and wooden decor (along with the incredibly friendly service) make for a great place to watch the snow fall and sip some of the best cocktails in the city. In the summer, the patio is an incredible spot to spend a sunny evening, the Commons just a second away to walk off the oysters and delicious food. The great thing is, the menu changes frequently enough that you can go back again and again. The lamb is my favourite, but I've loved everything I've tried. If you haven't been here yet, add it to your list!

We went to this great spot on a Friday night. We were very happy to have had a reservation, as a number of walk-in parties were turned away. The room was great. Great decor, and lots of light, even on a rainy night. Covid protocols had us feeling very safe. It was not overly noisy, but I suspect it could be when full, which would detract from the ambience. Staff were very efficient. We were offered "happy hour" beverages as it was just prior to 6 pm, however, the the reduced price wine selections were not up my alley. Not the fault of the restaurant. I found the wine prices on the high side, but the selections were good. We shared pork "cubitos" which were amazing. Shredded pork in a crunchy cube, with barbecue sauce for dipping. Delicious. My partner had steak frites, which was very much to his taste. I had the duck breast, which was wonderful. I particularly liked the carrot puree and the fried brussels sprouts. We had the sticky toffee pudding and the chocolate cheesecake for dessert. Portions were moderately sized. We left pleasantly full, but if one just had an entree and/or had a larger appetite probably would not be full. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and service received. Our meal, which included 2 drinks and 2 cappuccinos was just over $150, tax included. The only disappointment was the bread. Bread is not included, which seems to be a more common practice recently. We ordered bread, which was $5. What we got was 3 small dry toasted slices with what appeared to be balsamic vinegar drizzle and herbed butter. The bread was really disappointing, and having to pay for it added insult to injury. If you're going to charge for bread, it should be really good and fresh, and there should be enough for the table. 3 puny pieces for 2 people for $5 didn't seem right and detracted from an otherwise wonderful dining experience. We give this place 2 thumbs way up, even with the bread disappointment. We would recommend and we will return.

Visited for buck a shuck as advertised. Was told on the phone while booking my reservation that 8 oysters per person was the limit and another purchase had to be made (no issue). After we ordered our second order of oysters we were told we would need to purchase another item off the menu (drinks excluded). Even though we had just purchased a terrible $28 charcuterie board that had no more then $10 worth of food on it, several drinks, etc. Was not impressed. Requested an explanation from the waitress and was told “we pay more than $1 an oyster so you must buy another item off the menu.” Would never go here again. If you don’t want to honour the buck a shuck then don’t advertise it. Waitress was not friendly. Restaurant was not family friendly. First impressions are important and this one failed miserably.

Thank you for taking time to write a review of our restaurant. We apologize for any confusion surrounding our Buck-A-Shuck oysters. Our oysters come in from Pristine Bay, NS, and always local, fresh and delicious. They are what make our daily Buck-A-Shuck for Happy Hour so loved by many! Our policy requires a food purchase for every 8 oysters, so that we are able to keep oysters available for all parties coming in throughout the evening. Our Charcuterie Board is another favourite shareable at our restaurant, and we strive to fill our boards with a diverse selection of tasty nibbles. We feel it is worth it's value for not only quantity but also quality, however it is listed under the appetizers because it is intended to be just that! Eliot & Vine is known as the ultimate date night restaurant in Halifax. We are also a family restaurant! We love kids, and are happy to make accommodations to the menu to suit their tastes. Thank you for dining with us, and we hope you give us a second chance!

We have now been to this fantastic restaurant twice this year and we can't wait to return. The food is wonderful both in terms of taste and presentation with some unusual but incredibly tasty options. I had lamb shank on biryani rice with apricots -it was absolutely delicious as was my husband's lobster risotto. Everything we chose on both occasions was lovely. We went first for Valentine's and the fixed price menu which included a glass of wine was terrific. On Friday our server was called Lauren and she was so sweet and welcoming. She looked like she really enjoys her job and indeed all the staff were great. We will look forward to our next visit very much.

Fantastic experience here! Came for their happy hour and enjoyed $1 oysters with our order of a charcuterie board. Limited selection of wine and beer was available for $6 for happy hour. The food was delicious and the server was very attentive, we asked for extra crackers for the charcuterie board and she provided them promptly! Would definitely recommend to friends and family!

I went to this restaurant for evening meals but also hosted my small wedding there. The food is delicious and the portions are just the right size. They are so accommodating and caring. They took care of all my guests on the wedding day and corresponding with the owner to organize everything was so easy and pleasant. I recommend going to try their food for sure and if you're hosting a small wedding reception this is the place to do it!

We try to visit for lunch at least three or four times a year but Covid has intervened. The food is always first class and the staff are exceptionally accommodating. When we go for lunch we usually order 3 or 4 choices to share which gives one a tapas experience. If you order a bottle of wine but do not finish it you can have it sealed to take with you. A well run establishment like all the Bertossi group.

First time visiting this quaint Halifax Neighborhood gem. 5 of us went on a Sunday, when they have a $1.00 corking fee for BYO wine (amazing) and we all had delicious dinners. The server asked us what our fav. was because she must have seen us sharing our meals with one another and we really couldn't pick one. My husband had the short ribs on polenta. Flavour and tenderness was exceptional. I had the grilled octopus on fennel slaw. It was grilled perfectly, not undercooked and not rubbery and overcooked. The fennel was a great complement. My youngest had the butternut squash ravioli. She said the serving was small, because she gobbled it right up. My eldest had the halibut on risotto. So creamy with great flavours and her friend had the pork tenderloin, which was also enjoyed. We finished with creme brulee and an espresso to finish off a fantastic meal. Customer service was also spot on. Our server was attentive and available without being over bearing. We would definitely recommend and return.

Excellent service. Waitress was extremely friendly, we were never rushed, she always had perfect timing, and she ensured we were seated in an outdoor table when requested. Food was delicious. The Brussel sprout appetizer dish was amazing. I know it’s strange that Brussel sprouts could be so good but they were. For mains we had the halibut and lamb shank. Cooked perfectly with lots of flavour. Drinks were made with care and tasted amazing. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and drinks. We also loved the laid back vibe paired with upscale food. The location is great too. It was nice to not have to travel downtown. Highly recommend. One of my best dining experiences in Halifax in a long while.

We went early to take advantage of Happy Hour and are glad we did. It wasn’t busy so the server was very attentive. We enjoyed delicious Buck a shuck oysters from Pristine Bay and $6 margaritas to start. Then I had the tuna tartare and fries while my husband had the halibut. We were both very happy with our choices. Hope to go back soon!

I went to Eliot and Vine for the first time in January and it’s the only restaurant I want to go to now! My first experience there was on a busy Saturday night. I sat solo at the bar, intending on just having a drink and reading a bit of a new book. The atmosphere was phenomenal. The dining room was perfectly romantic in the candlelight, and the restaurant had a lovely buzz of table chatter and soft jazz. Drew was my bartender, and he served me one of the house cocktails, ‘Blossom’. The cocktail was a bourbon drink, almost a play on an old fashioned. It was perfectly balanced, simple and delicious. Drew walked me through the menu and made some excellent recommendations. I couldn’t resist trying the tuna tartar. He insisted it was outstanding, and he most certainly was not wrong. The shrimp chip that each bite was served on was so crispy yet somehow as light as air! Each bite was a flavour bomb that literally melted in my mouth. I ended up staying for a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, since I was having such a great time. I tried the gnocchi next and I must say, also mind blowing!!! It was in a roasted red pepper and cashew sauce and was not only one of the best gnocchi dishes I’ve ever had, it was also one of the most unique. I’ve been back quite a few times since and each experience has been amazing. Consistently I’ve been invited in with great food, a cozy atmosphere and some of the friendliest and knowledgeable service I’ve found in this city to date. Could not recommend this restaurant enough!

A trip to Halifax wouldn’t be complete without a visit to my favourite wine bar. The service is welcoming and attentive; the food is fun (oysters!) and delicious (try their sprouts) and the decor is upscale but cozy. A perfect place to catch up with friends and family.

What drew us to this place was the happy hour special which consists of $6 beer/wine/bubbles. The oysters are advertised as a buck a shuck; but you can only get a max of eight if you order food from the menu. Overall, service was great and super friendly. Portions are on the small side; prices are on the higher side; however, food was good. A late lunch/early dinner will run you about $100 plus depending how much you drink.

This was our first full meal at this restaurant. The food was lovely; the tuna appetizer was outstanding, with a wonderful mix of textures and flavours. The gnocchi were all like little delicate pillows, and delicious. Alex, our server, was a rock star. Excellent service, personal and seamless, and he always has a smile. My only suggestion has to do with the wine. It was a very hot day, and the windows were open so the air conditioning wasn't that noticeable, making the restaurant quite hot too. In a situation like this, the wine needs to be kept in a cooler spot, otherwise the taste is affected. Even red wines aren't meant to be served at temperatures in the mid 20s. Proper storage is needed.
