Spent the summer in Halifax and this was one of our favourite restaurants. Dined here 4 or 5 times and each meal was excellent. Great cocktails & service.

Thank you for your review. A summer in Halifax is a beautiful time so glad you could spend some of it with us. We hope to see you again soon!
First time visiting this quaint Halifax Neighborhood gem. 5 of us went on a Sunday, when they have a $1.00 corking fee for BYO wine (amazing) and we all had delicious dinners. The server asked us what our fav. was because she must have seen...us sharing our meals with one another and we really couldn't pick one. My husband had the short ribs on polenta. Flavour and tenderness was exceptional. I had the grilled octopus on fennel slaw. It was grilled perfectly, not undercooked and not rubbery and overcooked. The fennel was a great complement. My youngest had the butternut squash ravioli. She said the serving was small, because she gobbled it right up. My eldest had the halibut on risotto. So creamy with great flavours and her friend had the pork tenderloin, which was also enjoyed. We finished with creme brulee and an espresso to finish off a fantastic meal. Customer service was also spot on. Our server was attentive and available without being over bearing. We would definitely recommend and return.More
Thank you so much Cynthia for stellar review! We are so glad that you had such a great time and can't wait to serve you again.
We went early to take advantage of Happy Hour and are glad we did. It wasn’t busy so the server was very attentive. We enjoyed delicious Buck a shuck oysters from Pristine Bay and $6 margaritas to start. Then I had the tuna tartare and...fries while my husband had the halibut. We were both very happy with our choices. Hope to go back soon!More
Thank you for the review! Our Happy Hour is a favourite among our regulars. It takes place every day from 4-5:30, we hope you join us for another one soon!
I had a beautiful meal last night at Eliot & Vine where I enjoyed myself immensely. The atmosphere was relaxing, the natural light was so lovely, and the service was impeccable. The wine list was one of the best I’ve seen in Halifax, and I...dine downtown often. As a Sommelier in training, I was very happy with the wine selection and quality. The Brussels sprout appetizer was incredible and the duck was lovely. I will be returning often to try the rest of their menu. Bravo.More
We popped in for a bite and were surprised at the wonderful atmosphere. Had the Brussel sprout appetizer and loved them (I usually don't like Brussel sprouts!). Great spot to meet up with friends for a casual evening.
It's a bit off the beaten path and I would never have found this restaurant without making reservations because of all the good reviews. It was a bit empty when we arrived at 7pm, but as more people arrived the atmosphere became more lively. Very...attentive server. Had some great cocktails. Juan MacGregor was an interesting twist on a margarita. Spicy! Tuna tartare was good and kale caesar salad could have used a bit more massaging of the kale but even I'll eat kale if there is enough bacon. Spouse had gnocchi, but I got the beef short rib and we both agreed I chose the better dish. Beef was a bit tougher than I'd like, but still was delicious. I was expecting a bit more coconut flavour with the coconut creme tarte, and the pumpkin cheesecake was tasty if uninspired. That's just my personal opinion about cheesecake at restaurants in general but most people like them. Overall though it was good. Food and drinks were tasty.More

Wow. What a pleasant surprise. This restaurant is a must in Halifax. Trust. Oesters, tuna tartare, drinks, meat everything was perfect. Thank you to the family Eliot for opening such an amazing establishment.
I have heard many great things about this restaurant. I could not be happier, the food was amazing beyond belief and the staff was incredible. I would come back here every day of the week if I could, favourite east coast restaurant! Thank you!
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Came with some of my close friends looking for a great meal in Halifax and we were absolutely blown away. Jen was a fastastic server, she was above and beyond with caring to us.
Love love love this place. Small and intimate with lovely decor. Music play list was perfect for a nice bit of background noise. Drinks and cocktails were delicious. The Caesar salad was the best I have ever had. Pastas are house made and we loved...the flavor. Service was excellentMore
I went to Eliot and Vine for the first time in January and it’s the only restaurant I want to go to now! My first experience there was on a busy Saturday night. I sat solo at the bar, intending on just having a drink...and reading a bit of a new book. The atmosphere was phenomenal. The dining room was perfectly romantic in the candlelight, and the restaurant had a lovely buzz of table chatter and soft jazz. Drew was my bartender, and he served me one of the house cocktails, ‘Blossom’. The cocktail was a bourbon drink, almost a play on an old fashioned. It was perfectly balanced, simple and delicious. Drew walked me through the menu and made some excellent recommendations. I couldn’t resist trying the tuna tartar. He insisted it was outstanding, and he most certainly was not wrong. The shrimp chip that each bite was served on was so crispy yet somehow as light as air! Each bite was a flavour bomb that literally melted in my mouth. I ended up staying for a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, since I was having such a great time. I tried the gnocchi next and I must say, also mind blowing!!! It was in a roasted red pepper and cashew sauce and was not only one of the best gnocchi dishes I’ve ever had, it was also one of the most unique. I’ve been back quite a few times since and each experience has been amazing. Consistently I’ve been invited in with great food, a cozy atmosphere and some of the friendliest and knowledgeable service I’ve found in this city to date. Could not recommend this restaurant enough!More
My husband and I moved back to Halifax about 4 years ago. We tried out Eliot and Vine shortly after that. It didn’t take long for it to become that restaurant that feels special every time we think about it. It’s the restaurant we go...to the most often. We love the menu, the food, and the restaurant is beautiful, not too big or too small, has a great neighborhood vibe to it, but what brings us back over and over is the service. Jen and Phil make us feel like friends rather than customers. It’s truly a fun experience to dine here.More
The menu at Eliot & Vine is varied and can accommodate special requests for vegan guests. I especially like their fish and pasta entrees, as well as their appetizers. Order the brussel sprouts, they are wonderful! The service is friendly and professional. Great wine list...and excellent recommendations for wine pairing.More
My wife and I love Eliot & Vine and it's become our favourite place to celebrate a special occasion or a big life event. The food is delicious and the wine selection is vast and varied. Also love the intimate vibe and quality touches in...the decor. Situated seconds off the Halifax Commons, the location couldn't be better. Last time we went I got the gnocchi and it was to die for. Already looking forward to our next visit.More
Think we might have visited on a bit of an off night due to other reviews. Beautifully decorated, long bar and neat private room. Service was good, perhaps a little restrained - it was a slow Friday night. There seemed to be some tension at...moments behind the bar - that happens. Menu change offen and is intimate. Night we were there the Halibut was excellent with a stunning presentation, fries were great, brussel sprouts yummy. Others items were a little of a miss on presentation but still good. Wanted to like it more and will probably try it again. One thing to watch is I asked the person who sat us for prosecco, before we had the menu, and was asked if sparkling would work. I agreed but when the menu arrived - there was prosecco on the menu - in 2 sizes, but I was instead given the higher priced sparkling that only came in a large size. Totally my fault for not asking or waiting for the menu from our server, and it was good, but just felt a little played.More
Thank you for your review! We're so happy you enjoyed your meal and our beautiful space. We only offer Prosecco by the bottle. Our house sparkling wine, however, is offered by the 5 oz. glass. We completely understand that price can be a concern but...More
