We visited the Cut steakhouse with another cople last night. The restaurant was relatively quiet upstairs. Probably 4 tables being active. The cut was warm and receptive providing a greeting and coat check. The decor was dark as a steak house should be with great separation and decor simple but effective. We started with a great Ceasar prepared at the table by Dia, she was pleasant and informative...All 4 praised the salad...great job Dia. We ordered a bottle of Itailian red, montepulciano , it provided the right body and taste to match the upcoming main course. The Ribeye from Alberta, was tender, flavorful andnicely grilled. i ordered the baked potato which was disapointing, reheated lacked flavor and tough, at $11 a potato I think Wendys does a better job. The mushrooms were great and my partner had the Frites ,salty but tasty. Cost with wine circa $200 per couple including wine. The waitress, Emily was very helpful and professional making sure all of our dining needs were met and more.

The setting and decor is that of a very high quality steakhouse. The attention to detail is very much appreciated. The staff have a tremendous knowledge base with the menu and wine selection. When you go in you feel like you're in a restaurant from a big city. Every course was outstanding, start to finish. This is topped off when you exit by a take away sized banana loaf - this is a really nice touch. I look forward to my next visit!

From appetizers through to dessert we had a wonderful experience. Staff were friendly and attentive. Our Caesar salad was classically prepared table side with an extra hit of garlic, perfect. The ribeyes were cooked to order, accompanied with mushrooms and loaded baked potatoes. The maple crepe brûlée was a nice way to finish our meal.

We went for our anniversary dinner, and we’re impressed they offered us a free glass of champagne. However, the rest of the night went downhill when we got our food. The baked potato was over cooked with so seasoning whatsoever - it tasted like they boiled a potato in a pot of unsalted water and didn’t ass any butter/seasoning, it was also half burnt and inedible. The cauliflower (seasonal vegetable) was underwhelming and mushy. Our steaks were also disappointing. The PEI tenderloin was stringy and bland (didn’t even taste like it had been salted), the Alberta strip loin was overdone, extremely dry and equally bland. For the price we paid for this meal, we were expecting much better- I’ve had far better steaks in Halifax for much cheaper. We probably ate less than half of what we ordered it was so bad! When we told our waiter our concerns with the food, he shrugged and said he hoped we would give Cut another chance…absolutely not… the restaurant did not take anything off the bill, despite it being obvious we did not enjoy our meals in the slightest. As if the night couldn’t be worse, my partner and I overheard the wait staff make several INAPPROPRIATE and RACIST comments. There was one noticeable person of colour working at Cut. After this person dropped off bread and vegetables to our table, we overheard a different white staff member say to the bartender “Brown guys eh? Can’t do anything right…” The bartender responded “Hey man, be careful, you don’t know who is here tonight…” Later that evening we overheard the same two staff talking about a regular customer named “Carol” and how hot she was amongst other things- they said some pretty grotesque things that I will not repeat. So inappropriate and unprofessional. We were more disgusted with the staff than we were the food. Save your money, go anywhere else instead.

I’ll start by saying my hubby & I make a point of going to this restaurant once a year for the last 7 years. It’s our one “special” night out where we treat ourselves to very fine dining no matter the cost. I had visited the cut with my girlfriend back in November, and we both looked at each other when we got to the car & said “it was different this time” we both agreed that it was okay, but it had lost that “CUT” excitement & it didn’t feel like it was worth the money we paid. Last night, hubby and I decided to do our yearly treat, I have to say again that it has lost its touch of being a $300 + steak experience. The steak was Luke warm, and did not have that YUM you can’t get this anywhere else taste. The mushrooms were so runny & salty we could barely eat them. The potatoes average at best. Overall , when we got the bill we just felt like, we could of went to the keg for better tasting food & more of it. Nothing comes included with your $80 + steak, potatoes are $12+, and nothing has that “worth every penny” taste anymore. You use to get a basket of different breads, with different butters, you now get 2 biscuits and one kind of butter, banana bread on the way out was a huge hit, and very delicious this is now a blueberry cupcake that is not nearly as tasty. All the little extras that use to make this place desirable and delicious feel like they are gone. Sadly I think we have ended our 7 year tradition , and not sure we will return. Not sure if there has been changes within the restaurant, but we certainly miss the CUT experience we use to have. The service is exceptional I might add, but Sadly the food doesn’t match anymore.

The staff is well-trained and attentive. The steak met expectations. The sides were absolutely horrendous. The mashed potatoes were dripping butter and appeared to be instant. The chefs mixed vegetables served with only eggplant, a white sauce, and nothing else. The carrots were basically tasty, however, served with a thick white sauce, not good. We were served only two sourdough rolls, which we did not like. The advertised chocolate cake was a small Costco-like dessert. The coffee was totally undrinkable. Overall, not a good experience. Will not be returning.

The atmosphere is lovely and high end. It is very comfortable and the staff can’t do enough for you. It is very expensive though but the service was worth it. My husband who is very fussy loved his steak and baked potato and he is VERY particular. He had the 10 oz tenderloin. Said it’s the best steak he ever had. I had the Alberta rib eye. It was very good but I have actually had better. (Sorry!) I also had the steak frites which I thought were usually “fat” but these were more like shoe string style. Just a little over cooked for my liking but the garlic aeoli dip was delicious. We did not have time or room for dessert. And the Caesar salad is an experience all it’s own. Made right at your table from scratch. It was really good and so fresh! We would probably go back but only if we had more time to really enjoy the experience. 2 meals with appetizer and one pop came to $194 plus tip.

Group of 6 got together for a steak dinner and drinks. Service was slow. One of our group had their steak improperly prepared and it was not a quick or easy fix to problem. My steak was $79 and I can honestly say I’ve had much better steaks and sides at many pubs or other restaurants. Wait Staff were friendly. Way too many good restaurants in Halifax for food of this quality for this price

The atmosphere is nice and the staff was great. We enjoyed our starters even if the tartare was average. The steaks were tasty and tender, which was our least expectation considering the price, but they do not come with sides or sauce. Not a bad experience but extremely expensive. If you are a wine lover, the selection is impressive. However I am not sure I would order a Sassicaia or a Margaux from here as the cellar door was left open all the time we were there. That was our first time and likely the last as I think the Keg is a better option.

From A-Z this steak house is one of the best. Beats all the name franchised steak houses easily. From the first rate Caesar salad prepared at the table to the phenomenal aged steaks and a great maitre d it was an excellent experience. We will be back.

The PEI Rib-eye was second to none. Keep in mind that wen ordering veggies that you can share, even the baked potato was good for at least two and maybe three. Wait staff is excellent.

Considering this is an area renown for seafood, this is a top drawer steak restaurant. Given the seafood connection, I had a prawn and chorizo starter which was incredibly good. I'd ordered the ribeye for main which I asked for medium rare and it was cooked exactly to my taste. Excellently prepared and really tasty on its own, the mushroom and mac and cheese sides where a tremendous addition to the showpiece meat. The service was on par with the food. I always start with a gin martini and was asked which gin I preferred which I always see as a sign of quality. Our waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable about the food and drink; attentive without being intrusive which is a difficult skill. The final bill was also a fairly pleasant surprise! Whilst not cheap, I've certainly paid a lot more money for vastly inferior meals and service.

This restaurant came highly recommended and I was not impressed. I’m a picky eater but managed to actually enjoy my meal. My husband decided to treat himself and order the Wagyu Ribeye. I was so excited for him too! It honestly was ‘a regular steak.’ Very tough, definitely needed a steak knife to cut into it! I ordered the half hen. It was ok. Cesar salad was delicious. We were happy to have the experience but disappointed in the food. Side note, a little loud for my liking. It was hard to have a conversation with just the two of us. Happy we went but I wouldn’t return.

One of the best steakhouses I have been to in a long time. Managed a business casual/team dinner for 20 easily with a great menu featuring a seafood tower (oysters, lobster, octupus, scallop and halibut) to start. Of the options both stripling and rib eye steaks were all cooked beautifully. Good service and an extensive, if slightly expensive, wine list.

Waited for 45 minutes on The food. I ordered a tommahawk together with a friend and 80% of The meat was raw. It was purple and not cooked at all. I let The manager know about The raw meat and all they could do was to Get us 10% of The Bill. We were paying 80 euros for The meat. My experience with this was terrible. It was Nice staff overtall but to pay 80 Euros for raw meat and only Get 10% off was dissapointing.
