I called to make a reservation and the manager answered the phone with Cut or Shuck being as we are not from here and he said it so fast as well as my hearing I said pardon. He repeated it and I said oh ..Cut...then he said HOW MANY IN YOUR PARTY ? I said two he said…we are fully booked for tonight. I said so if I would of said 6 people I would of got in? Because he should of said he was fully booked before he asked me how many in my party. Then he HUNG UP on me!! So I went through open table reservation and they gave me the choice of 5:15 and I booked that. When we got there at 5:15 the place was empty. One other table had three people and a baby at it. I had asked him for a reservation for 6 and he never offered an earlier time. So we sat down the waiters where great we had a good meal and spent 200.00 we where done by 6:30 and the place was still empty as you can see by the picture I took. I took that picture when we left. Then we tried the next night to book at Shuck tonight and when I called he said he had a table at 4 o’clock then I said sorry I have to cancel. So we left the hotel 5 minutes later and he said he gave that table away. We are staying at Marriott Courtyard and this restaurant is at the entrance door so close. The place again was empty at 4:15 we eat early. I told him thanks and by the way you should’ve hung up on me last night and he went nuts. Said I was rude to him because I didn’t know the name of the place. Went walked across the small ally way and he followed us into the hotel in front of the hotel front desk staff and said write a review if I want it wouldn’t do any good as he gets great reviews. I said well if you are in charge of your staff you should lead by example and this isn’t it. Two front desk staff witness his treatment of me. So as for the food it was good but this is for management that you need to replace this guy. Never should he follow guests into their hotel and yell at them. We walked by this restaurant 2 hours later after we ate somewhere else and there where plenty of empty tables available.More

From appetizers through to dessert we had a wonderful experience. Staff were friendly and attentive. Our Caesar salad was classically prepared table side with an extra hit of garlic, perfect. The ribeyes were cooked to order, accompanied with mushrooms and loaded baked potatoes. The maple...crepe brûlée was a nice way to finish our meal.More

The atmosphere is lovely and high end. It is very comfortable and the staff can’t do enough for you. It is very expensive though but the service was worth it. My husband who is very fussy loved his steak and baked potato and he is...VERY particular. He had the 10 oz tenderloin. Said it’s the best steak he ever had. I had the Alberta rib eye. It was very good but I have actually had better. (Sorry!) I also had the steak frites which I thought were usually “fat” but these were more like shoe string style. Just a little over cooked for my liking but the garlic aeoli dip was delicious. We did not have time or room for dessert. And the Caesar salad is an experience all it’s own. Made right at your table from scratch. It was really good and so fresh! We would probably go back but only if we had more time to really enjoy the experience. 2 meals with appetizer and one pop came to $194 plus tip.More

The PEI Rib-eye was second to none. Keep in mind that wen ordering veggies that you can share, even the baked potato was good for at least two and maybe three. Wait staff is excellent.

The setting and decor is that of a very high quality steakhouse. The attention to detail is very much appreciated. The staff have a tremendous knowledge base with the menu and wine selection. When you go in you feel like you're in a restaurant from...a big city. Every course was outstanding, start to finish. This is topped off when you exit by a take away sized banana loaf - this is a really nice touch. I look forward to my next visit!More

We visited the Cut steakhouse with another cople last night. The restaurant was relatively quiet upstairs. Probably 4 tables being active. The cut was warm and receptive providing a greeting and coat check. The decor was dark as a steak house should be with great...separation and decor simple but effective. We started with a great Ceasar prepared at the table by Dia, she was pleasant and informative...All 4 praised the salad...great job Dia. We ordered a bottle of Itailian red, montepulciano , it provided the right body and taste to match the upcoming main course. The Ribeye from Alberta, was tender, flavorful andnicely grilled. i ordered the baked potato which was disapointing, reheated lacked flavor and tough, at $11 a potato I think Wendys does a better job. The mushrooms were great and my partner had the Frites ,salty but tasty. Cost with wine circa $200 per couple including wine. The waitress, Emily was very helpful and professional making sure all of our dining needs were met and more.More

We were two couples who have eaten at CUT before and we were pleased that our previous opinion had not changed. The ambience is elegant and inviting. The service is impeccable, informative and attentive but not obsequious. We all ate steak of various kinds and...all found them done to perfection. The sides were ample enough for sharing, as we had been told, and delicious. Our first bottle of wine seemed off to all of us so we let our server know and she, without a moments hesitation took it to the sommelier who came to our table and asked for another choice. As usual we were too full for dessert. Our only beef (pun intended) is the price which is a tad on the steep side.More

It was the most wonderful restaurant experience. The staff was fabulous, knowledgeable and have suggestions. My partner had steak, which was perfect, and I had a half a rack of lamb that was the best I've ever had and cooked exactly how I asked. Also,...the staff was right - the desert menu is all about the carrot cake.More

This restaurant serves delicious food. We went a family of 13 and everyone enjoyed their meal. The steaks and side orders were to die for and the desserts were delicious! The customer service was excellent and the waiters were very friendly and accommodating! Although items...on the menu are very expensive, there is nothing wrong with spoiling yourself once in a while for a special occasion! I would highly recommend this restaurant it you're out for a special occasion and your budget is to spend approx $100 per person.More

We were so looking forward to our Silver Wedding Anniversary dinner at Cuts in Halifax. All reviews pointed to an amazing experience for a special occasion. We are experienced travelers and have dined at numerous steakhouses throughout North America. An outstanding steakhouse is to be...appreciated and not easily duplicated and none of the best are inexpensive. That said, we were somewhat disappointed by our experience at Cut, Halifax. We were greeted and asked if this was a special occasion, which we willingly shared. Complimentary flutes of sparkling wine were presented and appreciated. Our server was knowledgeable regarding the various cuts of beef and asked us if were familiar with dry aged beef which we assured him we were. He left us to our decisions and was respectful regarding timing. There was a very good selection of USDA and Canadian aged beef of various cuts. Australian Kobe was an option as well. However, the menu did not include a porterhouse cut or did not offer charcoal-seared for any of the steaks available. I ordered a USDA bone-in ribeye, and my wife ordered a USDA boneless ribeye. Both were deliciously good and done to perfection. The ambiance was strange, or for that matter totally lacking. Everyone appeared to be “doing their job”, but there was no synergy or emotional connection between servers and customers… there appeared to be some undercurrent of tension. Our steak was excellent and as ordered, however, the sides were not exceptional. Asparagus with bearnaise sauce was very good, but the Brussels sprouts were nonexistent in an overwhelming barbeque sauce. The wine list is extensive and bottles are decanted tableside. Value for the dining experience is really the issue here. Any steakhouse, with high-end prices for each and every item on the menu, should be flawless. The caliber of the food is only one ingredient for a restaurant that advertises a special and unique dining experience. Unfortunately, “Cuts” did not make the cut with us.More
