This postage stamp sized place has been one of my go to places since it opened firstly on Robie St. but now a longer walk away on Gottingen St.The staff prepare the best sandwiches and frozen entrees and soups going and I always have a...supply on hand. great spot to pick up frozen prepared meals I stocked my freezer before my last surgery so I could have good nutrition for my recovery - soups, desserts and mains, all yummy

If we can no longer have Jane's on the Commons, at least we can have Jane's Next door which makes lovely catered meals. I can be incredibly busy and knowing that I can pick up these wonderful nutritious meals definitely helps! If Edna's is closed, as they are on Mondays, try Jane's Next Door. No seating but they do sandwiches and meals to take away. Their lemon square is to die for.
We hired Jane's Next Door to cater at a gathering of family and friends. I didn't speak with Jane directly but the young lady that assisted me was very professional, and a pleasure to deal with. She took into consideration that we had dietary allergies,...a vegan, etc. The menu consisted of various finger sandwiches, veggies and fruit with dip, etc. My favourite is the hummus ...... everything was fresh, and well presented. I look forward to using this company again when I can order a more extensive and proper meal.More
I stopped by for a quick take out lunch today. Everything looked so great!! I started with the Orzo and Chick Pea salad, it was a delight and so full of flavor (truly thought it was outstanding), I then ate the Tuna Sandwich (I thought...to myself what can I say about a tuna sandwich- turns out a lot... Chock a block full of yum flavor- great quality tuna- super bread- great idea to put sun-dried tomatoes in it, finished with a chocolate macaroon. Oh my that was fantastic!!! The lady behind the counter was super- very informative and extremely helpful. I can't wait to go again next week.More
no seats, but excellent take out of freshly baked treats and carefully crafted coffee. I loved the roast beef sandwich and the brownie. this is the perfect place to come to to pack a picnic for the beach or a long drive.
Jane's is affiliated with Edna (next door) and that alone should make you want to grab a take-out here. It's take-out only, there are no tables & chairs except for one park bench by the door outside. The scones are fantastic and I've never had...a latte as good as the one I got here. My partner raved about the smoked salmon. Lemon squares were sensational, and so was the carrot cake. They have a freezer with frozen cooked meals to take home. A really special place!More
This is worth a stop as all the options were decadent fresh and delicious. We cleaned them out of scones and bought a couple sandwiches to go. Perfect for our departure from Halifax driving to PEI. Worth the trip off the beaten path from downtown....Yum yum - Thanks JaneMore
Jane's Next Door is not a cafe. There is no seating, it is purely a take-out. However, after walking more than 10 kilometres to and from the Titantic graves, I had hoped to eat my lunch outside near the Citadel but it was too chilly....I ordered the Nova Scotia smoked salmon, a latte and a lemon bar while the kind staff moved some brochures off a ledge where I sat and savoured my lunch. Fabulous sandwich!More
This geat little "hole in the wall" type place has fabulous coffee and is easy to walk to if you are staying anywhere around the historic Citadel Hill area. I was staying at The Lord Nelson hotel and was very happy to have been told...about this place by a local fan.More
