If you’re looking for a simple classic Halifax Lobster dinner, this is the place to go. Comes with everything on the plate and a clam chowder. Food was good. I would definitely check it out. $40 dollars for the lobster meal.

I have been here a few times and the fish and chips are very good. Great size and tasty. The service however is hit or miss. Our server recently was not personable at all and didn’t have any conversation with us. Straight to the point...with no personality. I had to ask for a refills and a second drink and at the end of the meal she came up threw the debit machine in front of me and didn’t even show me the bill. Very disappointed in the service this occasion.More

Had breakfast here twice. Well priced. Generous portions. Nice quality. Lovely service. Pancakes are huge! One of few places where I was able to substitute 'home fries' for salad. Go there!

I tried to do a reservation online but it wasn't available so I phoned. I left my details and was assured I didn't need a confirmation number. They had no record of my reservation when we arrived and we were told whoever took it must...have forgotten to write it down. Then someone in my party wanted an on tap beer but both requests weren't available. Someone asked for a mixed drink and was told that it would be very expensive as she had to buy the 'shot' and the mix separately. The waiter was condescending. We walked out without ordering and went down the road to Baton Rouge where we had a lovely meal.More

My friend and I were traveling around eastern Canada and were looking for a nice seafood restaurant close to our hotel for dinner and found this one. The staff was very friendly but the service was relatively slow, as I think they were short staffed....We were not in a hurry, so it did not upset us too much. I had pan seared haddock and mashed potatoes and veggies and a Greek salad and a Labatt Blue beer. My friend had a lobster roll and seafood chowder and some wine. I also ordered baklava for dessert. All the food was very good.More

Very busy Sat and we were traveling so we didn't make reservations. Initially we were told we would have maybe a 20 minute wait and a booth opened up. Very good selections to choose from on the menu and the owner couldn't have been nicer...or more personable. Matter-of-fact. every establishment we visited the staff were the friendliest of people. It is a good size restaurant and I don't recall seeing a bar where you could sit if you so chose.More

We were wandering the downtown area and saw this restaurant - busy inside and somewhat quaint. First, the building is somewhat old - not sure of the cleanliness of the restaurant. Server was pleasant enough but told us that they had the best clam chowder...in Halifax. So we settled for the chowder and the lobster sandwich. The lobster sandwich was very good (Caesar salad was ok). But what turned me off was the chowder - it had a really weird taste - almost like it was cooked in a container which still had soap in it. Can’t describe what exactly was the issue but was a bit too watery and with the weird taste, I just could not finish it. So disappointed and I would not go backMore

Lobster!! 🦞 Lobster!! We returned for a second consecutive day’s supper for the lobster. So fresh and so filling and so delicious, and add in Waiter Brock’s wonderful service. We WILL be back.

While l I do love Halifax and visit it often, nothing is perfect and this holds true for this city. One of the shortcomings I’ve found is there are few classic breakfast places in the downtown area. There are plenty of places that offer weekend...brunch and of course there are plenty of both chain and independent coffee shops with pastries around. Mind if its midweek and you want something more than a “double double” and a donut then you’re out of luck. In between is that classic breakfast of bacon and eggs, home fries and toast. As in other cities there is no shortage of these places in the suburbs of Halifax but that’s a bit far to go from my downtown hotel. One of the few places available is the Bluenose II downtown on the corner of Duke Street and Hollis St. This makes it convenient for anyone staying in nearby downtown hotels. The Bluenose II bills itself as a family restaurant in business since 1964. The menu has a wide variety of lunch and dinner options including burgers, steaks, sandwiches, and of course seafood. To be honest I’ve never had lunch or dinner there… yet. There are just too many other options around. For me its about the classic breakfast and this place does not disappoint. Service is friendly and fast and portions are fair including the often-needed bottomless cup of coffee. Prices are more than reasonable to. Nestled in a corner booth with the local paper and a feast of eggs easy over, bacon, toast and a heap of home fries is the way to start my day in Halifax or anywhere, especially if one overindulged in visiting various places the night prior. Its fast becoming one of my favourite places in Halifax and one I can see myself returning to.More

We were downtown and it was pouring outside so we stopped in at the Bluenose for lunch. We very much enjoyed it. The lobster roll was great as was the deep friend squid. The chowder so yummy. The prices were reasonable and we were not...disappointed. The staff were friendly and they served us in a timely fashion. I would recommend this restaurant.More

Very nice place to eat. The lobster was excellent and very reasonably priced. Chowder, lobster, potato salad, coleslaw and rice pudding all for under $40. We also have to mention the great service and our server Brock was excellent. Great Halifax experience!!!!

We had dinner here twice during our two days visit of Halifax. We came for the lobster the first day but they ran out, so we had the seafood platter instead. It was delicious, service was attentive and friendly. The second day we had the...lobster, which was delicious, so was the clam chowder that came with the meal. However the service was not the greatest this time. This restaurant is about a 10 minute walk from the cruise port. Value was excellent for each meal. We would recommend this restaurant for a nice affordable lobster meal.More

We were there twice and didn't see any dogs in the restaurant. There is no outside patio and the restaurant is located at the corner of a busy street so I wouldn't suggest leaving the dog outside.
