We were able to get a reservation on a week night as soon as we arrived Halifax. It was an unfashionably early seating at 6pm before any other guests were in the upstairs dining room, we were treated royally. The staff was polite and patient, the atmosphere was gracious, and the food was absolutely marvelous. The breads were house made... More

The food was very good and well presented. The atmosphere was cozy and romantic. However we found our server very unfriendly. Never welcomed us, told us name or even smiled. Never returned to pour our wine or inquire about our needs.

We had a lovely dinner here with very good seafood in a quiet atmosphere. We highly recommend this restaurant. It was also just a couple blocks from our hotel, the Hampton Inn-Halifax.

Staff is very friendly and will take good care of you. It's definitely not the cheapest place to eat but you will get excellent seafood, so for that I would definitely recommend the place. However, if you are a vegetarian you may not get the same experience. The food was still great but there are better places nearby where you... More

A large table (20+) is never easy, but the friendly staff here took very good care of us. We had a set menu with a couple of choices, I went for a very nice seafood chowder, and a fantastic halibut, fresh, juicy, soft, just like it should be prepared. I hope I can get a chance to go on my... More

After the send-off of the NS Christmas Tree to Boston, we found ourselves in front of The Five Fishermen in the rain. As we heard about this restaurant a lot, it seemed like a perfect opportunity for lunch, or NOT. The fish and chips were among the worst we have eaten yet. Hand cut fries turned out to be a... More

Over $200 w tip for two people... and I came home to have a bagel! Still hungry! Our meal included a smoked salmon appetizer (delicious but probably about 1 T of salmon), then two mains (one salmon & scallops, one five fish meal both at $40) were skimpy at best and the risotto on the salmon/lobster was inedible (too much... We visited the Five Fisherman with a mix of adults & teenagers. The restauarant, lie many of the other well-recognized restaurants in Halifax, serves a mix of seafood and other dishes. The service is good (like virtualy all spots in town).

The primary reason of our visit was curiosity to check the place out after hearing all these spooky stories about wondering ghosts around in the restaurant. The food was literally AMAZING!! Starter: mussels. For main dish: the five fishes. That was really really good. You have to try the five fishes it was the best fish dish I ever had.... More

The ambience of the place is very good--modern, good colors and decoration. The servers are dressed well, but service was average at best--slowish and not very friendly. I tried to see how our server dealt with other tables and it seemed pretty similar to our experience. The food was okay but not great and certainly not worth the price. You... More
