Went for a traditional "greek" meal. Greek salad, Chicken Souvlakia. Tiziki, rice with mixed veggies, and Lemon Potatoes, and a pop. I was going to eat in at the restaurant. When I arrived for my first time being there, I got the immediate sense the...place was a little bit grubby. I had to "set" my own place to eat using utensils that you pull out of a can. They don't match - seemed old and beaten up. I asked if there were two sized of the souvlakia meal, and was gold I could request a larger portion of chicken. When the meal was ready I was called to the counter to pick up my own plate (I was the only client in the restaurant. On the plate was a small portion of salad - which was fresh and tasted good. The rice with mixed Veggies that I'm used to having is WHITE rice. Instead I got brown rice. The chicken that I was given didn't look like anything they had pictured. Instead they were whitish little bits of chicken, no larger than a "malteeser" chocolate candy. The didn't taste like they had been marinated in anything, and not grilled on a stick. Also, they were a bit tough to chew. I didn't enjoy the texture/taste of the rice. The potatoes, while certainly having a lemon taste to them were undercooked and still a bit starchy. I had hear good things about this family restaurant. I had read favourable reviews so I thought I'd try it out. That visit turned out to be two times I went there - My First Time & and My Last Time. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.More

Friendly counter staff. You order and pick up your food at the counter. Very basic wooden tables and chairs and little in the way of decor. I was unable to discern any difference between items on the menu and those offered at other middle eastern...restaurants in the city. I had a samosa that could be obtained from several places in the city as it came from an outside bakery. Coffee was not available....only soft drinks.More

Well... we arrived to Halifax and thought of getting a quick bite of cheese and zaatar manaqeesh. I recall we tried these guys some years ago and we liked it. So we take one cheese and one zaatar and a coke pop (1 only) and...we pay some 22 dollars. This is extremely expensive by all means. The bread was basic and the cheese was light and was not like an Akkawi or similar. We could have gotten 2 large pizza with veggies for that price or actually less. The price list in trip advisor (black board) has doubled or more. Never going back there.More

So I heard about this place from my friend who said "Hey there's a new place I discovered a week ago..." - This place has actually been around since 2004! How have I not discovered them before?? The most adorable little spot tucked into a...corner space the plaza - you miss it driving by if you blink. They have nice music playing in the background, giving the atmosphere the authentic feel it deserves. We were greeted by the friendliest staff, eager to share with us their favorite dishes. My friend and I both got the chicken Shawarma plates, which were accompanied by warm, fluffy naan bread straight from the oven. I gotta say, I don't get overly excited about food... but every bite was an explosion of flavor and magic. I ate until I couldn't fit another bite, then packed up the rest. We got an extra little treat, on the house, because it was my friend's birthday. All around: one of the best food/restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. Five stars. Ten Stars. I will be returning here many more times and will tell all of my friends to go here too. :) Big thumbs up!!More

We felt like we left Halifax stepping through the door and traveled 8,098km to Lebanon- the owner and cook was super friendly and made us feel like family from beginning to end. We each had the shawarma plate. The meal was hot, true home cooking....The chicken was spiced to perfection, and the lentils rice and cabbage along with house made pickled turnip were a fantastic compliment to the incredible pita bread that they also make fresh. One of the owners even brought us each out a piece of flaky, buttery baklava to finish our meal with at no charge. This place is a true hidden gem- if you are a world traveler and don't feel like leaving the city to eat, please try this restaurant- there is no way you will be disappointed.More

We have eaten here a couple of times in the past month. Delicious food and excellent service at a family ran business. Cosy atmosphere too. Hummus and Garlic to take home are fresh and good value.

Today I went to try a different Middle Eastern eating establishment and could not be more disappointed. Trying something other than Ray's Lebanese... this was mistake I will never make again. I ordered two Sharma wraps and was appalled at the aprox 1 TBS of...meant on this wrap, the tahini sauce was bland, the meat had no spice. The pickled products were added without asking (I do not like the pickled turnip and one question would have mad that clear). I had to throw it away...what a waste of money and time. The garlic sauce and hummus are so good at this location I was shocked at the poor food. Perhaps I got a cook that was not usually filling pita but that is no excuse. In fact- for a quick Middle Eastern meal I'll pop into Messa - fast service, reasonably good wraps. They may be ready to roll with precooked but I NEVER leave there feeling like I have been ripped off. A wrap should have MEAT!! Shwarma should have a distinctive taste. PLEASE NOTE: Ray's (in Bayer park) is the best choice and while I was hoping Saj would be a close second if not in the running for best I would take Messa fast food over them any day- Messa is not top of my list of Lebanese food so that should indicate what a rip off these wraps were.. For reference all three establishments are about the same cost. Spend uyour money wisely and stay the hell away from this place. I am disappointed to have to write this review as I enjoy their garlic sauce and hummus and had very high hopes that I would not get ripped off. PLEASE NOTE: all of the establishments run about the same pricing). GO TO RAYS in the park!!More

Interesting menu, with many choices for all, including vegetarians and vegans. Try the yogurt drink- goes well with the flat breads!

I recall popping in here a couple years ago for a late dinner, but it was too close to closing time. Whenever I remembered my intention to return, the timing was wrong... until tonight. I decided to treat myself to a zaatar, labneh & veg...manooche to go. It took a bit of time, as it's made from scratch and cooked in a large oven in front of you. Well worth the wait! Of course, it was no longer warm by the time I got it home, but the flatbread was crunchy and chewy in all the right places and the zaatar and labneh offered a tangy, zippy flavour. The veg? Mostly olives! Be still my heart! Great food, lovely service, perfection. Plenty of options for both veggie & vegan folks alike. I'll be back!More

Outstanding meal, perhaps the best in our week long trip to Halifax. Everything seems so fresh and authentic. You can't go wrong, I just wish I could try everything on the menu. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
