Manager was awful, we ordered a lemon tart and it did not taste right,so we sent it back and the manager took a bite out of our tart and said their was nothing wrong with it. So we went to order something else and she was charging us for it, which was fine but didn't even offer to give us... More

Five of us went for coffee and a snack. The coffee was excellent and the pastries/biscuits were very good. However we did find it quite expensive ($5 for a biscuit).

I've been here so many times I can't believe I have never reviewed it! Wonderful coffee and even better treats. I'm partial to the pain au chocolats and their sourdough bread. So good and always fresh. I hope it stays open forever :)

This place was recommended by our Airbnb host and we visited every morning. Lovely decor, quaint patio & super friendly staff. All of their breads, pastries & coffee were exceptional. Open early every morning ( yes, Sundays as well !)and the place is busy with lots of regulars. We even got another loaf of bread for our travels!

Was in the mood for a coffee when we arrived in the hydrostone district in Halifax. Julien's harkened us in and we picked a few haystack to go with the coffee. What a tasty treat - coconut, raisins, dates plopped and browned in the oven. Will have to find the recipe at some point. If you find the side door... More

It was such a breeze of fresh air to discover this lovely place in the middle of Halifax during our road trip. We were trying to find a French bakery and that was the perfect place as it serves Fresh bread and nice French tarts and croissants. My partner loved the croissant with ham and we also enjoyed the fresh... More

I have grown up in France and patisseries are "staple" for me. Where ever I go I look for a good French patissier and Julien's is the best place I have gone to in the Maritimes. It located in a quaint part of Halifax that is away from the touristy place and the harbour. It is always busy and the... More

Good coffee and pastries - seemed fresh enough to me despite some less favorable reviews. Nice quiet patio area in addition to seating inside. A great alternative to the chain coffee place up on the corner (yeah, I'm talking bout YOU, Starbucks!).

My purchase at the Hydrostone Market and the Seaside Market was of pastry not fresh, very dry,non butter ingredient taste. It is my conclusion that that are not continuing with true French tradition of freshness daily. The pain au chocolat I purchased at Seaside Market was frozen when I bit into it.I was sssured by the man serving that it... More

Julien's used to make a great baguette and whole grain sour dough bread but they have lost their way and we don't bother going there anymore. It is nice to go for a cup of coffee or tea and a biscuit if you are walking in the area, but their bakery quality has deteriorated and is no longer an excuse... More
