We've been indulging in weekly takeout from Veloute, a delightful and delicious break in the new world of social distancing.

As a family we come to Veloute twice a year. The food is superb. The team working there are a tight knot family and it is always a pleasure dining with them. Excellent and wide-ranging Winterlicious menu; delicious food with sizeable portions; very attentive and friendly service; a dining delight. Parking on Queen Street outside the restaurant. We were fortunate enough to get a last minute reservation on New Year's eve. The food and service was exceptional. We were a party of 4 and we ordered the tomahawk, seafood bouillabaisse and seafood risotto. The flavours were incredible, tomahawk was cooked to absolute...perfection. It's game seven of the World Series & I've got a craving for a rack of lamb. My google machine, knowing that i'm a recent resident of Toronto's Beach, recommends ' Veloute', on Queen. This place stands out as one of the few fine-dining restaurants...with a classically trained, and celebrated Chef in the neighborhood. I have been going to Veloute for the last couple of years with my family. Quaint little house located in the beach that was converted. It is quiet and not pretentious. Cute little patio in the back and also out the front. We have our...go to favourite foods like Cast-Iron Steak-Frites, Mushroom Agnolotti and the Warm Goat Cheese/Beet Salad, yet to try the carrot cheesecake but it is on my list!More

We three visited Veloute to celebrate my friend ‘s birthday. It was a scorching hot day, with heat advisories in the city. I was looking forward to the delicious Summerlicious menu and to celebrating with my friend. We decided to sit inside as the heat...was too oppressive to breathe comfortably. Unfortunately, the interior of the restaurant was hotter than outside. We were advised to sit in the rear patio which was described as cooler. We were seated at tables with uncomfortable metal chairs. There was a fan in the corner of the patio which was aimed at the two ladies seated there. The food was delicious. The waiters appeared to be wilted from the heat. By the time we finished our meal, attempting to be in good spirits, we were desperate to get out to the air conditioning of our car. When asked about the heat situation, the waiter replied that the restaurant is cool at three in the afternoon but heats up to an unbearable level once the cooking starts, requiring all doors to be opened for ventilation. He concluded that it was “not nice for him either. “ This was an expensive and very disappointing evening, in spite of the fine skills of the chef.More

Veloute is located in a former house, so the room is interesting and cozy. There is an outside garden area, and on a former visit a wedding was being held in the outdoor space. On this visit it was fall weather, so only the indoor...area was available. It’s a very nice setting with enough table space to feel private. Nice touches like stoles available on the back of the chairs for warmth. Service is efficient without rushing you through the meal. We were a group of four, all of whom had an excellent meal. There is always a wide selection of specials available, so don’t assume the online menu is all that is available. I ate a tuna tartare appetizer and a rack of lamb main, both of which came from the special menu. Both were truly delicious. The tuna was mixed with avocado and wasabi, and was fabulous. The only problem was that at seven pm on a Saturday, my choice of tuna appetizer snaffled the last tuna serving, and meant one of the party could not have the special tuna main, so they need to have larger amounts available of such good stuff. Steak frites and filet mignon offered very satisfactory alternatives however. It’s not cheap, (our bill for 4 appetizers, 4 mains, 2 desserts, 4 drinks came to $400 including tip) but it was a lovely evening, and the food was delicious.More

We had dinner with friends at this restaurant. The food was generally good but the service uneven, even though it was not bus and the prices were quite high

My daughter, son in law and our grand-daughter took my husband and I out to Veloute recently to celebrate my birthday. It was our first time there, however our daughter and our son in law had been there before and they were keen to return....The ambience at Veloute is lovely, very relaxing and comfortable. The food was delicious! Each of us chose something different from the menu and we all enjoyed what we ordered. The service from beginning to end was top notch. Our server was very attentive to all of us including our grand-daughter, which was nice as sometimes children can get overlooked in restaurants. It was too cool to eat on the patio, but it looked like a really nice area. I think it would also be a very cozy place to go in the fall and winter. All in all it was a really lovely evening and I'm looking forward to returning.More

We enjoy Veloute! It can be crazy busy around Summerlicious and Winterlicious, but otherwise a refined, comfortable and neighbourhood gem! Staff, food, environment, all good. This is the only fine or special dining spot in the Beach right now along Queen Street East. Majority are...fast food in nature or need some work in the wine list. Other’s are hopefully on the way!More
