Service lacking and needs improvement

Food was good but the service left a bad taste in my mouth. My first visit to Portland Jerk in Brampton was memorable and not in a good way. When I entered the restaurant I saw the staff working efficiently trying to serve their customers. One thing that stood out to me was one of the servers had a lollipop stick hanging out of her mouth as she was serving and packing food. My question is who does that? Where was her mask? This was the woman that ended up serving me..We asked if there were any lunch specials and she reluctantly told us what it was. Since it was my first visit I ordered but then decided to add to my order twice while she was still serving us. She gave me quite the stare down and made me feel very uncomfortable. When I was paying I apologized for being indecisive and explained it was my first time there. She just looked at me. I work on the customer service industry and this behaviour is unacceptable. As good as the food may be, it is definitely not worth being treated like that.

Poor customer service...

First I must say that the food is very tasty.. during the summer we order a lot of take out from there but after my last experience, I can do without the attitude of the woman there with an extremely rude attitude... My son ordered food, requested to have rice and peas instead of plain rice and she was very insulting, you would think she was paying for the food...now, he refuse to go there...Very bad for business... I know the owners, they are very nice people. My rating is based on the food only. Tasty...very tasty...

Good food at good prices

Tuesday is their special day - 2 pc jerk chicken and rice for $5 - price hasn't changed in over 10 yrs. Technically, it is not really a special as a large jerk (4 pcs) is $10. Choice of jerk or ox tail sauce on the rice. Consistent quality. Mostly take out - have a few stools to sit on if you want to eat there. Gets very busy on Tuesdays. They also have pork and curry. The sell west Indian bread and frozen patties as well. West Indian drinks as well. Jerk chicken is the most popular.

Plain rude and poor customer service

I've ordered from Portland Jerk quite a few times but I will never go back after my last visit this weekend. After I ordered stew chicken, I said to the lady I was told to ask for an extra coleslaw as they ran out the last few times. The older lady behind the counter literally wagged her finger at me, saying its a dollar for extra coleslaw! I simply said, I was told to ask because you ran out. As I was waiting for my order, I thought: I'm not supporting a business who is so rude and fails to keep their word. I cancelled my order and left. I'm not paying for rudeness. Simply uncalled for and cheap.

Rude Staff, flat out ignored me, and the jerk chicken meh

I go to Jamaican restaurants in Brampton regularly and I've never been so offended and mistreated by people until I went there. I stopped to pick up lunch for my husband and I, when I was rudely approached by a tall slim female attendant. I'm not sure what chip was on her shoulder that morning, but she just seemed ready to fight. Mid-order she turned around and walked away, and when she came back to find me still standing in the ordering spot, she got upset. "Maybe that's because I wasn't done ordering!" as I told her when she approached me with an attitude. As a side note, the jerk chicken was dry and required more seasoning. My husband's curry goat was as he said, "not worth the money." All in all, don't waste your money here, go to Bakers on Bovaird and Mountainash. Their bomb pasta salad and BBQ jerk chicken also comes with a smile.

Racism won’t die here!

Went in for a take out meal. Waited in line as all counter staff was busy in back. Lady(of colour)comes out ignores me and goes directly to a black fella who came in and asked if I was in line - I explained clearly - Yes. He was just as ignorant as her ! She proceeds to take his order , looks at me and walks to the back. I proceeded to tell him he’s as rude and said Stick this place and left. As a human being I don’t bud in front of people , I don’t look past people and I don’t expect anything except common courtesy. As a business owner I would never do these things to customers. I own 2 business’ and require much more from my employees. Disgraceful , disgusting and unacceptable. Never return - ended up down the road at Betta jerk ! Wonderful lady( also a lady of colour) behind counter - we spoke about the incidentals how I ended up there - she explained how she had been on that side of the coin and said to herself- if I ever own such a establishment how she would do it differently and she has! Definitely will return.

A gem in Brampton that I will go out of my way for

Came here to grab some jerk pork and jerk chicken for supper the other night. We were not disappointed. Both the pork and chicken were full of flavour. They were good portions, and the oxtail gravy was awesome! Also, the rum cake was really good. Definitely requires a return trip.

Stew beef and curry goat

Jerk Pork!

Was just buying paint in the strip mall where Portland was located and they recommended it. I was not disappointed. Sometimes it is hard to find good Jerk Pork. This was fantastic!

Amazing Jerk!!!!

Best Jerk Chicken in Brampton. I will drive the 15mins to pick it up!!! It's almost like your in Jamaica. Very fresh, great portions and taste OMG!!! Worth every cent and the drive. It's making my mouth water even writing this review. Writing this so that people out there can read this and decide to go there you will be a returning customer I guarantee. The also have ox tail, and other goodies.
