Great Fish & Chips

While I have never eaten in the restaurant itself, I have been taking out the food from Heritage for many years. The fish and chips are excellent! Heritage has several kinds of fish such as Halibut, Haddock, Orange Roughy, and Cod. Not only do they have it traditionally fried, but they also offer grilled fish as well. Other seafood is offered such as clam strips and calamari. In addition to that, Heritage also offers British pub grub such as Steak & Kidney Pie, Belfast Pastie, Bangers & Mash. I have not tried these yet, but every time I go there I am tempted to try it out. However, I go there mainly for the fish & chips.

Best " Fish and Chips from here..

Funny that for over 20 I've tried several other fish&chip establishments but there is no substitute that can come close to the quality of fish/food that they make here there coleslaw is to die for. love the veritie of Scottish imported candy. I would suggest ordering the Fisherman friend plater feeds family of (4) no problem.

Delicious and Fresh Fish

This is one of the more popular fish and chips restaurant in Brampton. We really wanted to try them out in the past but we just had no opportunity to do so not until one night I decided to order from them a take out meal of Basa fillet. Normally I judge a good fish and chips with the fish batter that coats the fish.The fish should also be firm and flaky, succulent, free of bones, not too oily and white in colour.So does this restaurant live up to the hype of being the best Fish and chips restaurant in Brampton? The fish came piping hot. What I like about it is the batter is thin but crunchy enough to coat the fish.The fish is very fresh and the meat is white in colour. It is also not oily at all. Maybe next time I will order their other fish dishes.

I went there got fishermans platter and a mini fish and chips and a clam chowder soup. The soup actually wasnt bad. Not many clams though. The mini fish was rancid had that horrid foul fishy odour meaning fish wasn't fresh. Went to the compost bin. The fishermans platter? More like fishermans SPATTER. horrible double fried out dry fish shrimps and scallops. Chips were indigestible. They do a sideline in british imported buscuits seeets etc charging 5 times actual value. Best thing that can happen to this place is that the No Frills next door annex it and turn it into a garden centre or liquor store.

Don’t bother to call ahead for a pickup order.

Customer ServiceLacking We decided t have fish & chips and onion rings for supper this evening. Our first thought was Heritage Fish and Chips at 295 Queen. However, we wanted to pick up and eat at home rather than in the restaurant. Knowing that every time we visited the takeout it was busy and had to wait a good deal of time, this time we called in our order for pickup. The woman. answering the phone had me wait 2-3 minutes before coming back on the line. She then took the order and confirmed the site we would be picking up the order, and took our name. She said it would be ready for pickup in 10-15 minutes. This was fine as we live about 15 minutes away by car. Arrived 12 minutes later and gave my name to the counter lady. She asked what we ordered, then proceeded to place the order on her terminal and told me the price. No problem, right. Well as I was paying I noticed the order was relayed to the cook who started to cook the fish and onion rings. Result, waited as long as we would have if the order was not called in. Questioned the delay and was told “it is Saturday you know”. Actually it was Friday. No apology for not having the order prepared before we arrived. Clearly, customer service / satisfaction is not included in the staff training program.

GOOD FISH N CHIPS BUT EXPENSIVE

We went to heritage for lunch as our regular fish and chip spot no longer has any dine in option. First impression the restaurant is spacious but has a cozy atmosphere . Our order was as follows = 1 coke ,1 order of creamy coleslaw ,1 order of onion rings and 2 orders of haddock and chips . Our server was very nice and polite she took our order but didn’t write anything down .Our food arrived and we ended up getting halibut and not haddock as ordered . We had no intention of sending the food back and wasting the beautiful fish it was delicious however this error drastically changed the final total of our bill. Payment was no issue but I did point out the error to our server ..she insisted we ordered halibut and I advised her that was not so .I could see she was concerned that we would escalate the matter . I told her it was fine and she conceded that perhaps she misheard us .In the end due to her error our bill came out to $76 for 2 people . Would I return? Honestly I’m not sure . I think she should have tried to make amends for her error but no such luck I feel she thought she just dodged her mistake because we were nice about it.

Great food...but

I frequently eat here as I stay in the area for business. I've never been disappointed with the food and I usually have grilled fish done to perfection. I just have to say though that the other night I was grossed out and should have said something but didn't. The young guy working the grill was attending to my salmon. Not only did he prod it a few times with his bare fingers, he also used his fingers to flip it over with the help of his spatula. There's no excuse in these covid times to be touching the food with bare hands. He was also the only one with his mask not on. I understand it's hot on the grill and that it's also likely common practice for chefs to poke meat and fish for doneness but a glove might help. It's an open kitchen and not appealing to see your food being handled like that with a pandemic raging. I will return but I will mention it next time I go. Very nice people and excellent food

The staff at Heritage are incredibly friendly and attentive. They went out of their way to make sure my dining experience was top-notch. They were knowledgeable about the menu and were happy to provide recommendations and answer any questions I had.

Pandemic procedures are poor

Just visited to purchase take out. When I mentioned that the masks should be worn around the nose to what appeared to be the manager, I was given the full arm gesture of F#$% you and told goodbye. He has an exemption. Does your cooking staff also have the exemption? Only person wearing their mask correctly was the waitress. I am tired of the wave increasing in numbers!

Just like back home

My family & friends have been going to Heritage for over 30 years and we have never had a bad experience! Fish & chips are the bomb, just like back home. Mushy peas are to die for. My kids (now adults) have tried most of the menu and have never been disappointed. Trifle is a must.

There’s a reason they’ve been in business for 37 years! Always fresh, always delicious, generous servings. Simply the best Fish & Chips in the Brampton area. Super busy at times, helps to call your order in ahead of time for pick up.

Frozen fish

Had halibut and chips, second bite fish was frozen! Hadn’t cooked fish properly and obviously using frozen rather than fresh fish. Made me feel sick.

Everything as great as ever

I really liked the food we had the first time we came here and once again we were fortunate to be the only taken table, besides another one, hence our food was brought rather fast. Just like in the past I had the kids halibut with chips, with the difference that now I was able to finish my meal, while the rest of my party had the normal sized dishes. Amusingly, we noticed the waitresses seem to have the same disinterested attitude, while outside several guys keep parking illegally on the yellow line leading to the nearby supermarket while a big pick up truck hit the sign 'Pick and go' while being parked on this space plus the handicapped space. Why should they bother to learn Canadian driving rules, right?
