We found the menu a little expensive but the portions decent. The food was served hot and the service friendly. Wine selection was limited but overall a good evening.

Went there for lunch, took their lunch special, which was beef with mushrooms and tempura shrimp and veg., loved the tempura, the beef was average, the quantity was little, but in general the price was reasonable, the service was fast, eould go there again.

We called today on our way back to the airport and this was an excellent choice. The Lunch of the Day for Thursday included a variety of tempura as well as Miso soup and a beef dish, all for $13. Service very good and efficient, much better than rip-off airport food!

We regularly go to Sakai in Burlington. We have always had a good experience but this time it was disappointing. Dirty table, no table setting and after asking 3 times we finally received some chopsticks. Our sushi starter came after our main course and service was very slow. Not their usual self. Hopefully it was just this one time but they have gone down in our rating ... prices have gone up quite a bit too. We paid $175 for two with one alcoholic beverage each and a set dinner. Nothing extravagant.

We had the Soon Du Bu, Sashimi Dinner and Rocky Mountain make roll and everything was spot on. The sashimi was fresh, Soon Du Bu was exactly as I expected and the roll was delicious. Service was quick and friendly as well. We'll definitely be coming back. Cost was $57 before tax. The complimentary side dishes consisted of kimchi, pickled cucumbers and flavoured peanuts and those were excellent as well.

After pondering the value, I decided to try Sakai for lunch. I was seated in one of the small rooms on the west side of the restaurant. After 20 minutes of nobody taking an order or coming into the room to check on the other 2 parties eating there, I left. Sorry, in a day and age where customer service matters most, this is embarrassing.

Sakai is our (spouse) favorite. Have been visiting since 2004 (+/-) and sumptuously satisfying every time including numerous takeout visits. Bento meals are superb value. Lunch time even better. Love the owners, love the staff.

we went there for a meal on a Sunday night and had a good combination of both Japanese and Korean dishes. Sashimi was good, as was Korean short ribs and salmon teriyaki.

I love this restaurant ❤️ Amazing tasty food . Korean & Japanese . Casual style, seating in view of open kitchen. Booths & tables with an extra step up level that could cater to events. Wait staff speak English and are great for suggestions. I’m vegetarian & had the tofu stew Soondubu delicious! Sushi is so good. Get the appetizers like enoki mushrooms 🤤 price is great. Tends to be chilly during winter months so request to sit away from the door. They have earned many awards and you’ll soon know why. You’ll be impressed. #Sakai #burlington

Have been here a few times in the past. One of the few places you can go in Burlington before 5:00pm on a Sunday. As always food and service is top notch. Hot Pot is a speciality, comes to the table boiling. Sushi is good and they have my all time favorite ice cream "Black Sesame"

We three dined here last night and were delighted with the food and sake. We shared numerous plates of both Japanese and Korean fare. The seafood was 2nd to none and the Korean beef dish was outstanding. Sake was top notch and the desserts were fresh and tasty. The room is cozy with private seating, open seating, booths and a sushi bar. Rather unfortunately, the service was poor. Very bad. There was no shortage of servers but we were overlooked from the beginning. (Even though our table was right beside service station and bar.). We waited a long time for a drink order and finally waved them down. When we asked a question regarding the menu, we were instructed to read a laminate card on the table. We were looking for knowledge and customer service, to no avail. Our order included many plates which were not cleared in a timely manner before the next round came. At no time were we checked on. Basically the service is non existent until you raise your hand. However, we will return with this, (and more time allotted) as the food is incredible. Kudos to the chefs.

I had lunch there this week and the food and value were exceptional. I had Chicken Karashi with rice. Beyond delicious. My companion had shrimp tempura. He paid and commented on the low price. We had a magnificent lunch for 2 for $30. (Actually, I had lunch for 2 for FREE. LOL) This is a good place for people uneasy about raw fish as they have many excellent cooked dishes. The staff were extremely attentive and kindly gave us a secluded corner table where we could discuss business in privacy. Would I eat here again? ABSOLUTELY !

Real fresh fish at Sakai, love the sashimi (especially some of the torched pieces). Also tried the hamachi maki which was absolutely delicious. A la carte sushi is always better than AYCE. Sakai is a nice restaurant with good prices for fresh sushi. Tempura udon was also really good, would recommend.

My friend & I came here for dinner as she had previously tried it and liked the food. A nice welcome and good service throughout our meal. Very pleasant and comfortable surroundings. We decided to share 2 different entrees: chicken teriyaki & seafood yaki. This meal also included a small bowl of miso soup, a garden salad and rice. Both dishes were delicious and brought to us in a reasonable time frame. I can't wait to come back and try something else!
