You can actually speak Japanese here and order food in the language. Very rare now in North America. Most Japanese food places are actually Korean or Chinese and many have drifted far from washoku. Not Mikado.

Lets start this review with a shout out to the entire stuff but especially Amanda. She was our server for my birthday dinner that evening. As much as you can meet someone serving you, I felt like her energy was unmatched! Very important in hospitality....9.5 for atmosphere! Glad we made reservations because friday night was busy. Honestly 15/10 for food. We ordered three rounds of different rolls. First round was Hawaiian Roll - Mango magic and DOUBLE avocado, - Special side order of Hotate Sushi aka Scallop. Second round was Spicy Kani (Crab) Rolls.. mouth watering just thinking about it. Finished with Samurai Dragon Roll and Hot Sake. Me and my father agree it was the best meal we've had in a long while!! Speaking of! Amanda even helped my dad with a chopstick trick! Do yourself a favour and book yourself a table. Tasty delicious food.More
A surprise treat. We were rather tired out of typical Canadian restaurant fare of burgers, overcooked pasta, chicken wings and the rest, so we looked for someplace nearby our hotel with a different menu. This was outstanding. The best tempura shrimp I’ve had for ages....Wonderful, if overworked, server. Good prices and generous portions. Well done!More
Unlike so many Japanese restaurants, Mikado is really Japanese and you can order your food in Japanese. Lots of fun and a great location right next to the waterfront in Burlington with its beach-side walkway.
Mother's Day, Takeout dues to Lockdown, I ordered the most expensive dinner for 2 on the Menu. This is my first time is my last. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Food tasted disgusting. The rice they used for Sushi and Rolls still...Raw, Grainy and Hard. Fish not fresh and too fatty, not supposed to be. Beef is too sweet with cheap Cabbage. Tempura is soft and very greasy. Very small portion. Icream for 2 is a laugh. I'm Japanese so I know what and how the food supposed to be prepared and cooked. They don't even know how to pack hot food away from Sushi. Food Presentation turns me off. I don't know how this place gets high ranking.More
Came late, sat at sushi bar very nice and polite Asked for chef chioce and wasnt dissapointed best sushi ever
Service was extremely poor. Food was worse than a cafeteria No draft beer and extremely limited wine. We were the only people having lunch and our server would disappear for long periods of time. Very disappointing experience
Mikado was “very good.” We had the Samurai Dragon Roll, Salmon Sushi, Hamachi Sushi, Toro Sushi, Ikura Sushi, Uni Sushi, Sweet Shrimp Sushi and fried Soft Shell crab. Everything was very good with the exception of a few things: 1. The sushi rice was slightly...undercooked. 2. The Uni did not taste fresh. 3. The sweet shrimp didn’t come with the fried heads on the side. Had the points mentioned above been better, I would have given Mikado a perfect rating. The price is very good, significantly cheaper than my favourite spot in Burlington Sushi Masayuki.More
I love this restaurant! The service and food are great. There is no need to go to an all you can eat sushi place because Mikado offers large portions that have great quality. A must if you are in downtown Burlington!
I have been here a few times now, and each I really enjoy it. They have a great selection of food on there menu. The rolls are larger compared to other places I have tried. Very accommodating with my gluten allergy as well. The atmosphere...is clean, quiet and quaint. Prices are very reasonable.More
Though not a sushi eater, so this may not be helpful for some, ive been to mikado several times. Each time ive been has been as perfect as the last, amazing bento box lunches, best lemon chicken ive ever had, quick service, beautifully quaint atmosphere...perfect for dates or a nice dinner with friends. I will always recommend Mikado to everyone who likes excellent JapaneseMore
Visited Mikado for the first time last night for dinner. Our reservation gave us an intimate table for two by the front window. Very nice décor and ambiance. We didn't want alcohol so ordered soft drinks which came in unopened cans with glasses of ice.......I...though this was a little odd. I ordered the sashimi platter. It was delicious and very filling. The presentation was incredible but a little over the top. I could have done without the skewered hollowed out fish with head attached . It was so ornate I had to take a picture though, and I NEVER do that. Service was excellent. I would definitely visit again!More
My friend and I scouted several restaurants along Brant Street, decided upon this one and did we ever made an excellent choice! We selected several appetizers and shared them, each one perfectly prepared and presented and so delicious. Our server was congenial and obliging. The...venue is small but nicely arranged. Prices are reasonable. I recommend Mikado 100%.More
We had a wonderful dinning experience and lots of choices on the menu. We shared the 'Tempura Sushi and Teriyaki' and 'Black Dragon Roll' and both were AWESOME. We will certainly be back for more.
My go-to place for sushi in Burlington. I always get their volcano roll--spicy salmon mixed with panko so you get some of the crispy texture as well. Great service.
