I am a regular customer at Choun Kitchen, love the quaint historic building atmosphere, outdoor patio, free wifi access, and warmth of family and staff servers. Bobby the cook/owner does an amazing job, consistently preparing my favourites. Wonton soup, meatball soup, rice paper wraps with...tofu or pork and vermicelli noodles with finely chopped veggies, garnished with peanut sauce, are my favourites. I tried the Banh Mi (baguette sandwich) once, which comes as a combo with wonton soup at almost half the regular soup price. I am eager to try their new Egg Noodle Soup, but the portion is huge with lots of ingredients (so I am told). The restaurant artwork is unique, some done by Bobby's niece. If you like elephants, these are part of the decor. Whether you live nearby or are visiting the area, this is a must see for eat-in or take out. What a huge asset to the Hespeler Village and district. A family run business. Homemade family recipes from Laos. If you just want beverages, these are available also....not your average coffee shoppe, but equivalent atmosphere. The Fashion Museum is across the street in the old historic former Canada Post Office and the restaurant is within walking distance of local shoppes. 10 minutes drive to the Highway 401 via Townline Road or Highway 24 exits. Come and visit on weekends for the Hespeler Village festival with street closure. Choun Kitchen is across the street from the Friday afternoon/evening summer market in front of the Old Town Hall. Washrooms are exceptionally clean and upscale. For disability access, a bit of a challenge. The hill down to their lower level is tough, but there is a sturdy handrail along the well-built wooden stairs to go down also.More
