Bought a "Fresh Cream Eclair" for $4.50 at Cambridge location and surprisingly it broke the plastic knife used to try to share it....it was Frozen solid. Definitely not FRESH.

My favourite go to for specific flavour nostalgia from my childhood. Will go out of my way to visit every so often
Steak Pie, Bridies etc. not as flaky but tough after heating up for dinner. Fruit tarts, (pineapple and jam ones) have been my favourite for 55 years and these have no cream inside the flat tarts, no jam to speak of in either. Just a...dry cake in a tart shell with yellow or pink icing. This is now 5 shopping trips there and NOT GOING Back. We spent a lot of money each time and look forward to these. We buy for family and friends at the same time but will be going elsewhere. It is a shame.More
Great place for UK treats and cookies. Recommend a trip to fill up on stocking stuffers. Prices are ok. Parking and easy to find.
Excellent baked goods! Pasties, Bridies, cakes and buns. All very good. Sometimes I buy too much when I go in there! (Please note they are now on Struck Court),
My husband and I stopped at St. Jacob's Market and picked up 2 chicken pot pies as well as 2 scotch pies. The pastry on my chicken pie was ok but that's all it was, all pasty next to no chicken and peas. I specifically...asked about how much chicken and was told lots. No there isn't. I threw in the garbage the majority of the pastry and as I said next to no filling. My husband's scotch pies were just as bad. What a waist of money, never again. If you live in Toronto go to Summerhill Bakery, you pay big bucks for a turkey pit pie but you won't regret it.More
Picked up a couple of Scotch Pies at their outlet at St Jacob's Market . Very disappointing, in that, while pastry was just okay, the meat filling was smaller than a McDonald's burger and about as tasty. Will not be buying these again.
My husband and I vowed never to support British Pride Bakery after being verbally abused at a gas station by an employee in a branded vehicle. In a weak moment during a craving for scotch eggs ... my husband bought us a couple from them...at The St. Jacob’s market location today for our picnic. They were the worst we’ve ever eaten. The poor little over cooked egg was enveloped in a saggy crushed cardboard casing with virtually no sausage... only filler. Quite a lack lustre experience. I suppose we should have stuck to our guns.More
Wonderful place, the staff are always pleasant, baked goods are terrific and they have a good assortment of grocery items.
For a taste of the British isles, it is my go too place. Everything I have had is delicious Just like me mam made
I realize that Canada has a ban on offals so the taste of the haggis would be slightly different but It wasn't at all what I was used to. Maybe they were made on an off day but everything I was so happy to find...was disappointing --most had way too much oatmeal in it. But the tattie scones were good. as were the eccles cakesMore
No pork pies, the scones are never fresh. They don't like you using a credit card to save the bank commission. Give this place a miss. Very disappointing.
We stopped in to pick up some baked goods and were greeted by loud, obnoxious, heavy metal music blaring over the speakers. We almost turned around and walked out had it not been for the great selection of baked goods. Lots of meat pies to...choose from as well as delicacies like scotch eggs and eccles cakes. Lots of British canned goods as well. Staff seemed very helpful but completely oblivious to their poor choice of music which was completely wrong for the mood of the store. Hopefully they smarten up and realize that music sets the mood for the customer, and is not necessarily for their own entertainment. It really detracted from the whole experience.More
This Bakery/Store is an absolute asset to Burlington. They offer Retail Groceries from the UK. Teas, Chocolate & other English cooking items. The Bakery coolers are amazing - to quote O. Wilde "The only way to get rid of Temptation ~ is to yield to...it." You cannot resist when you stop in this place. Often buy the Chicken Pot pies and reheat on low for Dinner to make a hectic day easier. We buy the Sausage rolls and divide up for Company when having Drinks. After gorging on Victoria sponge cake in England each time we visit - we have come home only to the disappointment you cannot find a Bakery in Hamilton, Burlington Oakville who even knows what we are talking about. We have had it twice in the last two months, The Minis are great as a self treat and we ordered a large one ahead of time for a Friend's birthday ... was a huge hit! Fresh Creme only here and priced right compared to some cakes we have usually ordered for triple the cost. CANNOT recommend this place enough! And although recently moved to Hamilton - it is well worth the effort to head back to Burlington and stock up. Clerks are very polite & friendly to boot! Not sure when we'll get back to London... but at least we have a go-to place for comparable Baked Goods! Going to surprise some English cousins on Mom's side with one of these Bad Boys this summer!More
When I need a hit of pie from back home this is the place. 3 pies for $12 is great for what you get and the soda bread to go with it was just delicious. A definate for any local or expat who needs something...fresh, crumbly pastry hit of Britan and Ireland.More
