Steak Pie, Bridies etc. not as flaky but tough after heating up for dinner. Fruit tarts, (pineapple and jam ones) have been my favourite for 55 years and these have no cream inside the flat tarts, no jam to speak of in either. Just a...dry cake in a tart shell with yellow or pink icing. This is now 5 shopping trips there and NOT GOING Back. We spent a lot of money each time and look forward to these. We buy for family and friends at the same time but will be going elsewhere. It is a shame.More
Great place for UK treats and cookies. Recommend a trip to fill up on stocking stuffers. Prices are ok. Parking and easy to find.
Excellent baked goods! Pasties, Bridies, cakes and buns. All very good. Sometimes I buy too much when I go in there! (Please note they are now on Struck Court),
My husband and I stopped at St. Jacob's Market and picked up 2 chicken pot pies as well as 2 scotch pies. The pastry on my chicken pie was ok but that's all it was, all pasty next to no chicken and peas. I specifically...asked about how much chicken and was told lots. No there isn't. I threw in the garbage the majority of the pastry and as I said next to no filling. My husband's scotch pies were just as bad. What a waist of money, never again. If you live in Toronto go to Summerhill Bakery, you pay big bucks for a turkey pit pie but you won't regret it.More
Picked up a couple of Scotch Pies at their outlet at St Jacob's Market . Very disappointing, in that, while pastry was just okay, the meat filling was smaller than a McDonald's burger and about as tasty. Will not be buying these again.
My husband and I vowed never to support British Pride Bakery after being verbally abused at a gas station by an employee in a branded vehicle. In a weak moment during a craving for scotch eggs ... my husband bought us a couple from them...at The St. Jacob’s market location today for our picnic. They were the worst we’ve ever eaten. The poor little over cooked egg was enveloped in a saggy crushed cardboard casing with virtually no sausage... only filler. Quite a lack lustre experience. I suppose we should have stuck to our guns.More
Wonderful place, the staff are always pleasant, baked goods are terrific and they have a good assortment of grocery items.
For a taste of the British isles, it is my go too place. Everything I have had is delicious Just like me mam made
I realize that Canada has a ban on offals so the taste of the haggis would be slightly different but It wasn't at all what I was used to. Maybe they were made on an off day but everything I was so happy to find...was disappointing --most had way too much oatmeal in it. But the tattie scones were good. as were the eccles cakesMore
