Best outdoor restaurant patio in Guelph. So secluded and comfy, you don't even know you are in the City. Great prices during the Happy Hour drink and appetizer specials daily 3 to 6 pm. You might like to look at the menu before you arrive. They have a large selection. I found the atmosphere wonderful, our waitress was friendly and the food when it arrived was perfect in size and presentation. It might be a tad expensive but I...haven't been to a restaurant in ages due to Covid so it might be on par with everywhere else. The waitress came by twice to make sure everything was going well and there was another gentleman who dropped by to make sure we were happy. The washrooms were clean. We had a rather large group and we're given the 'room' to hold our family gathering in. The waitress was most attentive and friendly, but that's where the positive rating ends. I ordered the vegetarian burger with an additional jalapeño peppers and the salad with...feta cheese. The salad came and was rather small with no cheese - I looked at my burger and there was one slice of pepper and 2 partial slices - I called the waitress over and showed her - she said she would bring me more and was so sorry about this - she was true to her word and I received a generous amount of peppers in a bowl - I didn't bother about showing her the salad. My husband and several others ordered sandwiches or fish & chips - no one received more than 14 pre-made french fries. The portions received were really tiny - and some meals could not even be eaten. I reached out to both the restaurant and their head office concerning these meals - no one even bothered to return an email. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone! Symposium Cafe Restaurant, Guelph ...A dreadful experience. 1. As our cell phone was left at home, our waiter sounded very annoyed that he needed to print off a menu for us. 2. The onion soup was terrible. The broth looked like it was made from...a paste. The onions which were scarce, were not from a fresh product. Instead of prepared croutons, there was an uncut slice of bread in the soup bowl. It was topped by a thin slice of mozzarella cheese, which had not fully melted, & had not been baked in an oven. 3. The Quesadilla was tasteless. When placing out order, the waiter informed us if we were not going to eat (the 2 sauces & sour cream), he would not bring them out, because they would be wasted! Really! How would we know that we would not eat them, if we did not have the opportunity to taste them? 4. The soup, Quesadilla & steak pieces all were barely warm, not hot. 5. The waiter was rushed to clean off our table, telling us that he was going off duty, & he did not want to leave the table to clean for the next staff. Our impression was that he wanted his tip. 6. I paid with a $50.00 bill & requested some change. I did not consider two 5 dollar bills as change. In summary, the food & service were terrible. We will not return!More
I ordered food through Uber Eats because of the pandemic. My order included a chocolate milkshake for $9.45. I could not believe that I was charged that price for a milkshake delivered in a coffee cup. When I called to discuss the outrageous price, I...was told that Uber Eats was at fault because they set the price. I was asked to email of photo of the cup size, but have heard nothing since I sent the email several days ago.More
We are now able to dine, since I did not bring my lunch to work, I decided it was high time to go to Symposium restaurant. Well, it was great as always. Due to covid we cannot go to the restaurant but takeout is possible. We had enjoyed breakfasts here but decided to get wings 1 LB and fries with it. We got small overcooked wings and a very few fries - it honestly looked like a...snack pack. Very disappointed and will not return.More
Go on a Monday they have $5.00 burgers, or chicken on a bun, or fish on a bun. One criticism they have recently switched to an in house made dressing for their ceased salad which tasted very gingerly. There burgers are great an 8 oz...patty nicely cookedMore

Breakfast was great, very fast service. Free WiFi is awesome, hard to find this at other breakfast places in town. Warm atmosphere. Breakfast special Monday to Friday includes coffee, haven’t found a better deal than this in town.
Had a family reunion brunch Food was delicious, and plentiful Atmosphere was nice, there was no rush or pressure to leave Server was very attentive Would definitely eat there again.
Great service great breakfast/brunch. The waiters/waitresses were very helpful, breakfast was quick, coffee and food was very good and there is a very large selection big and small. As you can see, not only would I go again, but I DID go again. Love it.
Visited the Symposium Cafe in Guelph for a quick lunch. Were told about the special menu for the month leading up to Canada Day, one item of which was “Maritime Lobster Roll”. Now, I’m usually smart enough to not order lobster that far inland, but...... The lobster roll was a quantity of extremely finely diced stuff, which may have contained more than the four or five identifiable pieces of lobster I spotted. Each half of the sandwich leaked about a quarter cup of a thin vinaigrettey mayonnaise, so you had to eat hunched over your plate. There was some overpowering herb in the mix which left a bitter aftertaste. Maritime it wasn’t, Lobster not so much also, Roll was all right. I’m sure the Guelph location gets this stuff shipped in from the great Symposium corporate headquarters, so it’s probably not their fault. Place full of lots of young ‘uns taking pictures of their food, which I find fascinating. Probably a couple of beers makes this stuff edible.More
Dinner with four long-time friends, getting together three or four times a year to eat, drink and talk. Everyone enjoyed their meals, burger, three fish and chips, one tilapia in an orange sauce. All portions were a good size, food came out quickly, hot and...delicious. Wine list is limited, but a grape variety for every taste. Lots of space, didn’t feel like people from another table were sitting on top of us. Definitely going back.More
Recently visited my family in Guelph and had a breakfast and lunch at the Symposium Restaurant. we found their breakfast and lunch to be excellent in term of food quality and price. it is also a great place to meet your friends and family for...a breakfast and lunch. great place, definitely I will revisit next time I will be in Guelph.More
