We have been there many times and, even though there was no entertainment because of covid, we were made to feel welcome and had great service. The covid precautions were followed to the letter and we felt very safe
Food is to die for!!!
Its a fine dining restaurant. A little pricey but the food and atmosphere are nice . Music from a live band may be on the menu on certain nights. We ordered specialized pizza's which were a wonderful change from the norm.
We make our way to Guelph just to eat at this restaurant so I was a bit concerned to read a recent review and wondered if things had changed. Our experience was excellent just as before. The service was very attentive and cheerful. We always...enjoy their mussels and I was convinced their previous sauce was my favourite. I was wrong, they upped their game again with this new vermouth, cream and BACON chunks. They did not skimp on the bacon either. Served with nicely charred bread. Yum! The chicken breast was moist with a crispy flavourful coat. It was served in thick slices on a bed of seasonal vegetable succotash (so good) and fingerling potatoes. Artistically plated with a ring of herbed oil. The tasty hanger steak came with a smoked cauliflower purée, chive croquette, and crisp asparagus all draped in red wine jus. Flavourful ++ , beautifully plated, good size portions and served hot. Even the plates they use are a bit different, round but with an offset rim. Nice touch. Appreciate their attention to slightly different items on the menu such as the smoked cauliflower purée , chive croquette and succotash. It is still worth the drive . We will be back and take the back roads to enjoy the fall countryside colours. Hope you give it a try, reasonable prices for this level of cuisine.More
Ordered the charcuterie, some pasta and chicken breast. Appetizer was interesting and flavourful. A bit too much vinegar dominated. Mains were at best average. The service was very slow, and not attentive, and the server was on his phone constantly in plain sight to us....Server was very polite when he did come. Well over an hour to get our entres. Overall, it was a surprising outcome given that this restaurant is rated number 3 in Guelph and has had a certificate of excellence. We won’t be going back, it just didn’t live up to the ratings.More
Great little music club in Guelph. Manhattan's has been here for 20+ years and that should say volumes about how good it is.
The music is unique and it varies all the time.
The menu is small but offers something for everyone.
Ambiance is great....Service is excellent.
The new owners have taken up where former owner, Thomas, left off and are doing a great job.
bread service is nice. Charcuterie board was a nice size to share.
Gillespie pizza has always been our favourite.
We will be back!!More
Manhattans was near my hotel and had great ratings so I gave it a try. Great decision! The most fantastic Caesar salad (with thick lean bacon added) preceded my Sonny Rollins 12-inch pizza - a wonderful combination of spicy sausage, ricotta cheese, red chilies, and...honey (yes, honey) that awakened then warmly hugged my palette. The service was friendly and outstanding (thank you, Doug) and the guy at the piano was pure talent (March 1, 2020). I stayed for two hours alone yet not alone and enjoyed two great craft beers. What a great welcome to Guelph!More
We went here on a Saturday night. You need to make a reservation. We were having an earlier dinner but it started to fill up. We had a nice table for two. It would have been a bit crowded if the place was full as...the tables are set fairly close together. We had an excellent waitress. She was knowledgeable and congenial. The food was excellent. We had a salad. A pizza and gnocchi. All were fresh, flavourful and we did not leave a crumb. The pizza crust was thin and perfect. The gnocchi melted in your mouth. The drink prices are a touch in the high side. The room is beautiful. We did not hear the music but the dinner was fantastic. I would go again in a minute!More
