The flat iron steak was outstanding and served in a pretty unique way (like an arch). Both cocktails I had (margarita and bee's knees) were great and well balanced. My wife and I split a pizza (Sonny Rollins) and it did not disappoint.

My spouse and I came here for a date night after hearing about the raving reviews and live music. We were seated in a tucked away corner with zero visibility of the live music or anything for that matter (I felt like they should have...warned us of this when making our reservation, even ticketmaster warns of limited view, this was absolute ZERO view). Service was friendly but slow, I ordered a glass of red wine to go with my lamb dinner and by the time it came out my dinner was 2/3 over and I ended up having it for "dessert". The most disappointing of all was the food. I ordered the lamb and my spouse had the hanger steak and it was mediocre at best. Both luke warm plates looked exactly the same with a different piece of meat thrown on, same veggie same heavy sauce drizzled over. The menu said something about lemongrass and mint on the lamb, I can assure you there was no such thing on my plate. We had two drinks each, shared one appetizer and one main each and it was $190. Total waste of money in my opinion. Would not recommend.More
Another amazing experience hands down .Zack did an amazing job serving and of course the owners always a pleasure to have them stop by our table to say hi.had amazing seats and we were attended to perfectly. The food was omg to die for .cannot...wait to be back again .More
We all know how restaurants have struggled through the pandemic and we have supported the good ones like Manhattans as best we were able through closing phases, masking requirements, etc. We wish them all success now that most of that is behind us. But last...Saturday night was an eye opener. Pasta dishes that used to be 16-19$ are now $24 and up. $14 for a side ceasar salad. Their beverages have always been expensive in my opinion, and still are. It's the food - much higher prices and smaller quantities. Still tastes great by the way. Don't do this to your customers. Increase prices if you must. Adjust portion sizes if you must. But don't do both or you will lose people. Still a great atmosphere with live jazz music but sadly we won't return unless there is some improvement to the price/value formula.More
My friend and I had dinner at Manhattans two nights ago. I hadn't been there for a number of years. I believe the last time I was at this restaurant was in 2013. My friend and I had been trying to coordinate our schedules with...the restaurant's dinner hours (they are only open three nights a week) for over a year now. Finally we were able to get to Manhattans for dinner. At the beginning of our dinner, the service was excellent. However after our dinner was served, a number of people came in and from that time onwards, the service was non-existent. I would like to note that there were indeed enough servers on that particular evening and they were not short staffed as many other places are these days. We were the only table our server was attending to on the lower level and she was also serving tables on the upper level. From that point onwards it was basically an "out of sight, out of mind" situation. She stopped by once when we were almost finished our meal to see how our food tasted. After that we did not see her again. After finishing our meal we sat for a long time waiting for her to stop by so we could get our left over food boxed up. Finally I asked another server to box up our food. After he brought our boxes back our server appeared. At that point we just asked for the bill. Upon paying the bill, my friend told our server that we were very dissatisfied with the service provided. This is supposed to be an upper scale restaurant and the service should reflect that. It was quite a disappointment for us especially since we had been attempting to visit this restaurant for quite a long time. I did wait two days before writing this review and here is the reason why. Being a small establishment, I called the same day for the reservation just in case it was going to be busy. When I made the reservation, I spoke to one of the owners and he wrote down my name and phone number. Leaving the restaurant, it was very apparent that we were upset and the owner I had booked the reservation with was standing at the door. Once I returned home, I thought that the owner would call to find out why we left so hastily. After all, he did have my phone number from the reservation I made three hours prior. I did not receive a phone call and hence this review. This is completely unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber. It's a shame because the food really was excellent. Needless to say we will not be returning to Manhattans.More
My husband and I were traveling from Quebec City to Wisconsin and spent the night in Guelph. We found Manhattans on Trip Advisor and loved it! The owner and staff were very pleasant, the piano music enjoyable, and some of the best pizza I have...ever had!More
The food was outstanding, the chef out does himself with every single meal. The service was over and above what we expected and the owners are truly amazing. Love this place.
From the food to the ambiance to the amazing Owners Maria and Darrin and son Zak and super incredible staff it’s our favourite place to dine and drink. In our opinion “Service is largely a matter of ATTITUDE” !!!! Congrats to all of you at...Manhattans for making us feel at home each and every time we are there. Your great attitude towards service is why we come back often. Doug & KarenMore
I highly recommend Manhatttins, it's an owner operated run location. The food is absolutely amazing and they are connected with so many amazing artist's. This is one of the last locations where you can get this experience..... Very rarely in Toronto or New York you...will have the ability to dine in a location that offers both amazing artist's and high quality food.More
This best word to describe my experience is MAGICAL! The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the drinks were better then described on the menu. I went with my two, fourth year, university housemates. We...did not have any expectations going in. However, seeing the piano player chatting with tables after his set, couples slow dancing together throughout the restaurant and experiencing overall comfortable vibes, was absolutely amazing. We will be going back!! Families, couples and friend-groups all seemed to be having an amazing time. Also, be sure to say hi to the owner, she is amazing!!!More
So very very disappointing! It’s amazing how arrogant and what short memories small business owners can have after struggling during a bad spell (the pandemic) and then thinking things are great and we are back to normal! It’s no different with Manhattans Pizza Guelph owners...Doug and I assume Delores. During the pandemic I ordered at least one or two margarita pizzas for my daughters every week! Not because Manhattan’s Pizza is the best in Guelph, because it isn’t, but because my daughters liked them, and they are the only place in town offering that specific selection of pizza. More importantly, I supported as many local Guelph businesses as I could during pandemic which was a very tough time for restaurants and small businesses. They were f front line workers trying to survive and keep their businesses afloat. I always tipped 20% on a pickup and thanked them for being open! Flash forward to November 2021 and despite offering a Takeout menu on their website, the last 4 times I called to order Takeout as soon as the place opened, I was told they were sold out! When I mentioned this to the owner Doug the last time I called, I was called “asinine” for expecting Takeout because they have a very small kitchen! A loyal “asinine” customer I may add! Wow! Apparently according to the owner Doug, it appears they do NOT want Takeout.... so don’t expect it.... However, if you are a big fan of “arrogance and a bad attitude toward loyal customers” then Manhattan’s Pizza in Guelph, and Doug, is your kind of place! Ok pizza, decent jazz (actually only jazz in town so no other place to compare to....) but WOW... so disappointing!More
We have been there many times and, even though there was no entertainment because of covid, we were made to feel welcome and had great service. The covid precautions were followed to the letter and we felt very safe Food is to die for!!!
Its a fine dining restaurant. A little pricey but the food and atmosphere are nice . Music from a live band may be on the menu on certain nights. We ordered specialized pizza's which were a wonderful change from the norm.
We make our way to Guelph just to eat at this restaurant so I was a bit concerned to read a recent review and wondered if things had changed. Our experience was excellent just as before. The service was very attentive and cheerful. We always...enjoy their mussels and I was convinced their previous sauce was my favourite. I was wrong, they upped their game again with this new vermouth, cream and BACON chunks. They did not skimp on the bacon either. Served with nicely charred bread. Yum! The chicken breast was moist with a crispy flavourful coat. It was served in thick slices on a bed of seasonal vegetable succotash (so good) and fingerling potatoes. Artistically plated with a ring of herbed oil. The tasty hanger steak came with a smoked cauliflower purée, chive croquette, and crisp asparagus all draped in red wine jus. Flavourful ++ , beautifully plated, good size portions and served hot. Even the plates they use are a bit different, round but with an offset rim. Nice touch. Appreciate their attention to slightly different items on the menu such as the smoked cauliflower purée , chive croquette and succotash. It is still worth the drive . We will be back and take the back roads to enjoy the fall countryside colours. Hope you give it a try, reasonable prices for this level of cuisine.More
Ordered the charcuterie, some pasta and chicken breast. Appetizer was interesting and flavourful. A bit too much vinegar dominated. Mains were at best average. The service was very slow, and not attentive, and the server was on his phone constantly in plain sight to us....Server was very polite when he did come. Well over an hour to get our entres. Overall, it was a surprising outcome given that this restaurant is rated number 3 in Guelph and has had a certificate of excellence. We won’t be going back, it just didn’t live up to the ratings.More
