Hadn’t played Springfield in many years. Course wintered well with greens and fairways in great shape. Also good value for the money, walkable, and great selection of holes.

Over the years we’ve played many rounds of golf here. John, the pro is great and has developed Springfield into a really good golf course. The course is always in great shape. The value for the price paid is excellent - two golfers for $87...all in is pretty fantastic. Springfield’s greens are generally on the slow side and don’t generally have a ton of break. The only downside to Springfield is the closeness of some fairways to others which results in lots of people yelling FORE while you play.More

This golf course is very scenic and challenging at the same time. Even though I was on a power cart, I did do a lot of walking, which was fine with me, but I know I wouldn't have been able to walk the entire course....Not sure if it was members of Springfield or just public golfers, but I found a lot of them did not have or show much golf etiquette to other golfers, including their maintance crew who continued to motor past you while you were on a back swing. It was a very hot day, so we quit after nine holes and went to the patio for a drink. There was one table for two left vacant. It was in direct sunlight, so I moved it over about three feet, nowhere near another table and basically got chastised for doing that. Then the waiter asked me if we were going to eat or just have a drink. When I told him just a drink, he told me I was okay to sit there then, but basically not for long. Really? Then our waitress came over and she too chastised us for moving the table into the shade. She took our order, we drank and we could have left without paying, however we are too bloody honest for that. So the golf was good, but the service on the patio was little to be desired.More

We have been waiting for the restaurant to open, but starting today Springfield Golf and Country Club Restaurant offered curb-side service for their famous Friday night Fish and chips and special dessert. We called and put in our order, paid for it and set our...time for pick up. We were there and it was ready right on time. Thanks for another great dinner!More

Nicely kept. Pleasant views. Even in drought last year was worth playing. Stayed for dinner in the dining room - average fair for golf course.

It was getting on for lunchtime as the Brock Road turnoff came into view on the 401 and my companion asked if I had ever eaten at the golf club "up the road". Assuming he meant the Springfield I answered in the positive and said...that 'Fish and Chip Fridays' were pretty good. Not being Friday we agreed to see if we could get a table. Luck was on our side and even though the restaurant was busy the friendly staff found us a spot near a window overlooking the very green course. Thank you Mother Nature for the rain, but enough for now, eh? The lunch menu is extensive and we both settled on the Turkey Club, mine with fries and my companion went for a bowl of warm Chicken Noodle soup. Service was fast and came with a side order of warm smiles . . . always appreciated. But what a sandwich! Thick, tasty bread and stuffed with goodness — a great Turkey Club. Frankly enough for lunch and possibly half could have been saved for dinner. As it was we both enjoyed every bite. So much for my diet! So once again Springfield and the friendly staff ticked off all the boxes for a pleasant lunch. Then it was back down the road to the 401 and work.More

Springfield Golf and Country Club has an excellent restaurant with a panoramic view of its lush golf course. Menu selections change frequently and are imaginative and carefully prepared. Their fish and chips are excellent as is their smoked salmon sandwich. The wine list is good...and offers reasonable prices. Their beer selection is adequate. Service is generally fast, friendly and efficient while meal prices remain reasonable. Tables in their glassed in atrium offer excellent views, but the area becomes noisy when crowded. Nevertheless, a great choice for a pleasant lunch.More

My golfing Buddies & I had a previously round of golf scheduled this past Tues. Aug. 28th at this wonderful Guelph course. Fortunately, we had an early a.m. tee off time while it was mostly overcast & before it became too hot, but the humidity...caught us on our back nine. It was instant heat as soon as the sun came out from behind the clouds. Thankfully, we planned well & had lots of ice water in our carts & we knew that the beer was getting colder. Given the hot weather, the course was in wonderful condition. The front nine is the easier part, but the back nine has lots of water & played very difficultly. Perhaps it was the winds, the humidity, the fact that we were getting tired, or all three! Regardless, we had a good time. All four of us broke 100, but barely & we were certainly happy that our round was over & that it was now past 12:00 noon so that we could now rest & have some lunch & cold beer. We enjoyed our fish tacos, wings, onion rings & beers. All were good!More

We decided to try their Valentines Fondue. What a great choice! The food was cooked to perfection, the service was great and the general atmosphere was very nice. The soup to start was really good. But the desert table was unbelievable. Only problem was we...ate way to much. Definitely worth checking out.More

If I happen to be in the area on a Friday then this place is and will be high on my list for a satisfying and simple lunch. I've joined friends at this spot for dinner only on two occasions and each time someone in...the party has been disappointed. On a recent get-together (when I suggested the place) the disappointed members included me. Service, as usual, was excellent. The wine list, though modest, offers some pleasant reds and whites by the glass — small servings available for those who prefer a modest taste with dinner and one friend said he thought the beer selection was good. The let down came with the meals. One fellow was delighted with his selection but the general opinion was one of it could have been better for the money. I felt bad as I had been very vocal about the Friday Fish and Chips which I think is great value and well served. On a brighter note the restaurant covers two rooms — one room slightly lower with great views. Seating is comfortable and the atmosphere is pleasant. Staff, as mentioned, are always thoughtful. For those with a mobility challenge there is a ramp at the front door and the washrooms are on the main level. Will I try it again for dinner? Yes, and maybe that time I will follow another reviewer's comments and go for the Prime Rib.More

The course is challenging, however, player friendly. Beautiful natural features e.g: ponds covered in water lilies, dramatic elevation changes, great chance to see wildlife. Friendly pro-shop staff, good selection of golf clothing.

I was very impressed when my son and his friends treaded their dads to a day of golf. How ever that all went by the way side at the turn. Springfield had over booked, which is fine, we where in no hurry. But after ordering...food at the turn. We where scolded on the 10th tee blocks and told we had to proceed to the 12th tee blocks. After arguing with two different gentlemen, we proceeded along. And yes it did ruin the rest of our time there. I for one will never play there again. Nor will I ever recommend this course to anyone. I have never been abused on a golf coarse in such a manner. The two so called managers would be fired in my books. I have never seen such ignorance from the so called managers. We let the group behind us play through. So what was the big problem? Still shaking my head over such poor judgement.More

My squad has played all over southwestern Ontario for nearly 20 years, and this course remains one of our favourites. It's relatively short from the back (blue) tees, but every hole offers a unique challenge. Well placed bunkers, lots of foliage and trees down the...fairways (but not so much to lose a ball), and a fabulous back nine with very picturesque water for three holes at the turn. Very well-groomed, our rainy spring has been a blessing for this verdant course. Watch the greens - immaculate but very hard to read. Friendly staff, and good eats in the bar. You'll love this track. $56 without cart.More
