I can’t speak to the other treats - our friends had a ‘butter tart’ taste off. Crumbuns came first - flaky delicate pastry and the inside sweet, solid, not runny but perfect to bite into. Expensive!

Date of Visit Sat July 22 Crumbuns Bakery is a lovely little bake shop on Hamilton’s ‘mountain’. This little shop has been on our butter tart quest radar for some time, but we just never got there until now. Their display case was full of a huge assortment of buttertarts that it made it hard to choose – but we did. Their flavour options included apple crumble, cinnamon roll, oh henry, Nutella, salted caramel and many others. For our #buttertart quest – we grabbed a few fun flavours (wild Style) and a few regular options. The Lady working was very friendly and very eager to discuss their baked goods. These were some very tasty butter tarts and worth checking out. Other options you may want to try are their brownies, cheesecake cups, and cookies. This is an adorable little bakery.

Their story is one that tugs on the heart, but the prices for the product just don't make sense. The quality is ok, but i would not go back. There are a lot of very original bakeries in the city that deserve the business and give quality for the money spent. I have no issue with paying for that quality. Everything we tried was overly sweet, and just not up to the standard I would expect.

I've tried various items on several occassions, each time hoping to be blown away. The Belgium cookies are absolutely delicious, some of the best I've ever had. But everything else is ok or good, but not great. The photos they take to promote make everything look so mouthwatering, but unfortunately the flavour just doesn't match. Don't get me wrong, nothing tastes bad, but it's way overpriced for what you get. They are creative, things look fabulous, but I just want to be blown away and never am. I made an order for cinnamon rolls over the holidays. When I opened the box at home I was appalled. They looked nothing like the photo on the online order form - at all - were an absolute mess and were colourless. They're made from more of a pie crust hybrid, not traditional, which I wouldn't have known from the photo. My kids wouldn't even eat them. The bakery must have known these looked bad, but let them out the door anyway in the xmas rush. I just wish they'd have acknowledged it and maybe thrown in an extra something. That kind of acknowledgement would have impressed me.

The butter tarts at Crumbuns were the best I have ever had. A friend brought me home a couple as a treat and good thing that he only brought me home a couple because I would have eaten all of them. The pastry is flaky....the filling is perfect both visibly and taste wise. A little bit of heaven ...all wrapped up in a tart.

While we didn't love the buns, we absolutely LOVED the cheesecakes. The variety of flavours available was amazing and all of the six varieties were tried were so delicious.

Heard about this little gem last night and had to try it. Great decision. I had a lemon square and my companion tried a cheesecake. Both were fabulous. Coffee was good. Above average service and felt very welcome. Can't wait for another visit. Ended up bringing a few treats home.

You'd certainly be hard pressed to find a better combination of decadence, quality, variety, and flavour, than there is at Crumbuns! It's a small, quaint bake shoppe, cutely adorned, in a small neighbourhood plaza on Concession Street's east side. I've had quite a few treats from this gem. From bite size cookies to giant smore's made for 2 or 3! Everything is awesome. My personal favourite is the creamsicle cheesecake. Oh my goodness. Orange creamsicle flavoured stuff is like my kryptonite and then put it in a cheesecake? Winner! It must be made with magic, love, and a pinch of unicorn horn.....thats how epic I thought it was. Read my reviews folks, I've got lots and I only speak the truth. So swing by a grab one of their famous Crumbuns, cookies, cakes....or pizza rolls!

I picked up a selection of treats for a Canada Day party. Super cute Maple leaf cookies, a variety of squares and tarts. All very tasty and fresh. I also got a coffee to go.

Hidden whole in the wall, homemade, real ingredients, goodness. We had blueberry crumbbuns, and lemon somethings, that were fantastic. I don't even have a sweet tooth, but it really hit my sweet spot. Highly recomended.

Crumbuns is now run by Joanne who is a wonderful baker! The Belgian cookies are to die for and her cakes are superb. It's a short distance from Juravinski Hospital and a nice change from the Hospital cafeteria. The other great thing about this place is they donate a portion of the proceeds from a couple of their specialty products (Carter's buttons, and Nate's cookies to the Juravinski Cancer unit.)
