The food was delicious! The chicken was soft, and not at all chewy or hard. The chips were so tasty, the coleslaw was fresh and homemade, and the rice went very well with the entire meal. The portions were huge, so we took the leftovers with us...and we got TWO more dinners out of them! Worth the price.
Our waitress was very patient, and quite friendly. Not intrusive and not ignoring us. Perfect level of care, and also giving us the privacy to enjoy our dinner in peace.

We bring all of our friends here and they always tell us it is their favourite restaurant during their visit. When they return we can be guaranteed that Charred is their 1st request. We aren’t sure whether they come to visit us or Charred 😉. Our son has a dairy allergy and they are always amazing at accommodating. Charred is the best restaurant in the city!!

It is my second time coming here. We arrived as a party of 10 people. I ordered the quarter chicken with fries - mild sauce. My husband ordered the brisket sandwich wrapped up with a side of potatoes. After trying the potatoes and fries as sides. I would recommend the fries over the potatoes. If the potatoes had a little more flavour, I think they would have beat the fries. Overall the food tasted good and fresh. The only downside was, the location of where we were seated, was very close to the cash area where the food was being grilled. Therefore, we smelt like chicken afterwards when we left because I don’t think they have proper ventilation in the space.

I moved to Hamilton about a year ago. My house is a 5 minute walk from Charred and I used to go all of the time for takeout, for probably an average of once every 2 weeks, but recently the quality has become terrible. The portions have shrunk and the chicken I have received has become dry and clearly has been left out. I also tip when I pick up.
I won’t be going back, which is a shame because I used to love this place.

I came to this restaurant with friends during a visit to Canada, and we chose this place because of the outstanding reviews. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to our expectations. I ordered poutine with chicken, and my friends ordered other chicken dishes. We all agreed that the actual chicken was dry and flavorless. The poutine here is made with vegetarian gravy, which did not work very well. For the prices you are paying, the quality is not there at all.

We really enjoyed our meal. The food was very good and plentiful. The srevice was very good and the waiter was helpful explaining the options. Some of us had the chicken and one of us had the beef brisket. Both excellent choices. The raosted potatoes were so good. And the local beer on tap was enjoyable. A wonderful dining experience.

Honestly, we were very surprised about this restaurant. We were in Hamilton as tourists and we read good and bad reviews. We decided to give it a try! We were 12 people and every single person was happy about his/her choice of meal! Everything was very tasteful, the portions were great and the service was excellent! If ever we go back to Hamilton, we will stop by for sure.

I loved the Caesar salad with chicken. I could eat that for days. The charred chicken (leg and thigh) was just ok and I wouldn't eat that again. It was indeed charred and it seemed to have been rubbed with spices so it was strong for me.

If you haven’t been to this place which up until yesterday I had not you’re missing a culinary delight! I bought the charred chicken sandwich and was in heaven from the first bite until the last. The bun the freshest I’ve ever tasted! The chicken the sauce the items in the sandwich the dip! Oh my god delicious. I’ll be going back and taste that again and again! They deserve awards for their food. The prices fair and the staff very friendly! Thanks

Excellent service. Suggested a Cosmopolitan for my friend and I and it was delish!
Dinner was tasty and filling!! Didn’t need a side as the sandwich was so good.

Ordered the whole chicken which came with three sides for takeout. Overall the chicken tasted great with good flavour. The three sides came in big portions which was worth the total value. Would order again in the future.

Heard good things about this joint and thought it lived up to the hype. Midweek solo visit for lunch around 1pm, no problem getting a table. A big bottle of water brought to the table was a nice start to good attentive service.
Started off with a nice bowl of Matzo bowl soup, Ordered the leg and thigh with a generous portion of french fries. Went with the spicy piri piri sauce which was nice and peppery, and spicy. It’s very hard to overcook dark chicken, so there was no dryness issues. Nicely charred, slightly crispy, some pleasant seasoning but definitely not over salted. A juicy leg, complimented well with the peri peri dipping sauce. Nice sized half mini baguette for mopping up the sauce.
One bit of constructive critique. The high tin ceiling bricked dining room could use some noise mufflers. A quartet of loud talking green fatigued soldiers from the nearby armouries were planning some kind of administrative strategy at a table involving multiple f-bombs - which seemed uncalled for given the surrounding patrons were a mix of elderly couples and gal friends out for a nice lunch.
All in all, a nice place for lunch. Will be delighted to return to try out new entrees.
