From having chicken to filet mignon perfectly cooked to order and a delicious rockton desert, couldnt have been a better dinner among friends and the service was top notch considering times of covid. Restricted and safe !

Hubby and I attained with another couple that had heard that the food was fantastic, rustic atmosphere, very friendly staff, great presentation, taste - good, not outstanding. Home made rolled stuffed ribs had a type of chili sauce, different . Chicken pot - ?? cream...of chicken soup with veggies between puff pastry - good Hot turkey sandwich - lots of turkey, good gravy - average Chicken Cordon Blue - the red pepper sauce was interesting We enjoyed being there, the food was good, maybe our expectations were too high.More

It is hidden gem in Rockton. Laurie was amazing! And the food was next level! Traditional setting with excellent food and service. Must try.

I have been to this restaurant several times with friends and even large colleague groups. It is always a busy place and you can see many local citizens coming in all the time. The portions are generous, the variety is great. Staff are courteous and...friendly, the food is nicely served and delicious. Country food and atmosphere at its best!More

A great little gem of a restaurant off of Hwy 8 between Hamilton and Cambridge. Need to make a reservation as it is a popular spot and can quite often be filled if you just drop in. Nothing else that close so would be a...shame to drive to it to find out you can't get it in. Had the ribs the day we visited and the portion, taste, quality and value for money was 2nd to none. Highly recommend and will definitely be back. And yes ... it was packed the night we were there. Note ... they are not open Mon or Tues.More

One of our favorite go to restaurants when we are down this way . The Bistro reminds me of my Grandma's country kitchen ,small and intimate! The food is home cooked and delicious and reasonable price wise . The wait staff are friendly and helpful..., everything you could ask for a positive dining experience . I have only one complaint , but every time we have visited the customer noise level was redicules! We found ourselves at times having wait for the lull to have any conversation , why people need to yell , screech laughter , screaming babies , all takes away from the ambiance of the place ! I know there isn't much the staff can do to curb the rude behaviour of customers and I certainly don't blame them but he aware that this is the one thing that may turn you off ! Maybe it's the luck of the draw that everytime we come this happens , but to be truthful it's the food ,the price and the friendliness that brings us back !More

This is one of my absolute favourite restaurants. It's a first class place without being pretentious. The food is nothing short of amazing and the Service is the kind that makes a great meal even better. I met my daughter here on a Wednesday for...an early dinner. We didn't have reservations (probably a good idea) but were here shortly after four so it wasn't an issue. There is parking out front and the inside of the Cookhouse is very warm and inviting. Super friendly staff that manage to combine class and fun perfectly. We both started with the Creamy Broccoli and Cheese soup ($5.75 X2) that was absolutely delicious and a substantial serving size. My daughter then went with the Mussels ($13.95) and I went with the Rolled Ribs ($23.95), My daughter quite enjoyed the Mussels. The Rolled Ribs made me angry because they were so incredibly delicious I don't know how I could ever order anything else on the menu when I return, they were just that good. For dessert I went with the Strawberry Pie ($5.95) Ala Mode ($1.25) while my daughter went with the Cobbler ($7.50). Again both of these were excellent. The meal was amazing from start to finish. Excellent venue, service, food and a fair value for you money. I can safely say that I can guarantee if you try this place you will like it.More

We met our friend here for lunch. He’d been here many times and recommended meeting here. Thankfully he’d made reservations, it was packed on a Thursday. We enjoyed the roast turkey sandwich with fries, spinach salad and BLT with salad. Delicious lunch topped off with...peach pie and coconut cream pie (with 2forks). Good food, reasonably priced and good service. Looking forward to visiting again.More

Expectations not met. Service was okay but hurried; perhaps it was the time of day that we arrived. Soup o'day was very good but the rest (Haddock & fries, Caesar salad) were sub par. Expectation high because the Cookhouse is out of the way and...upon entry to the Bistro gave the feeling (expectation) that home cooked meals were available.More

I would say that it would probably be the Shell at Peter’s Corners (where hwys 5, 8 and 52 intersect). That would be about a 5 minute drive.
