Stopped in with dad and brother for some schnitzel. Found the restaurant on Tripadvisor and went there based on ratings. Fantastic comes to mind. Huge tasty portions and excellent value. Food was hot and waitress was prompt. Even bought 3 Steins as souvenirs!! So absolutely...go there again.More

My husband and I are celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary and we ordered from Black Forest from their website. It directed us to Door Dash. I ordered and it said that it was accepted. Then it said there was a problem so I contacted the...restaurant directly. They told me that the order had been received and he read back my order. 30 minutes after we requested our dinner we had not received anything. We contacted the restaurant again and they said it had been delivered. It was an entirely different dinner from what I had ordered. We explained the situation and the restaurant took ZERO responsibility and said it was out of their hands. We have been customers for years and I will never buy from them again. Thanks Black Forest for ruining an anniversary. Your customer service is deplorable.More

There was a time when this was the best in Hamilton. I am sure the original owners are regretting leaving this business to an idiot...Paul is determined to turn this into a thing of the past...what a shame that he has ruined a legendary restaurant.

Went there with my wife and granddaughter tonight. Have been there previously and enjoyed it. Tonight was a different story. We ordered a breaded schnitzel and they came out unbreaded. Mistakes happen. We had to flag down another server to go find ours. She was...no where. Finally she came over and asked what was wrong. Did not apologize but said she would get us new ones. We waited a half an hour before it came out. The place wasn’t busy. Meanwhile our ten year old granddaughter had finished hers and was ready to leave. Once the new meals came they were terrible. Overcooked and over salted. This is unusual bc this place was great before. At no time did our server or manager come over to see how our meal was Left server 5.00 tip. Maybe she will get the hint It’s really ashameMore

We have eaten at the Black Forest Inn many times several years ago, but this week as we attempted to go there we discovered that the hours posted on their website are not correct. I contacted the restaurant and they said the person who handles...their website is on vacation! My advice, if you want to eat there, phone ahead to be sure they are open.More

The Black Forest Inn is and always has been a terrific restaurant. I took my son and his wife a few months ago. I asked him today where he'd like to dine for his birthday. He picked the Forest. I wasn't surprised. I can't wait...until Sunday to enjoy that schnitzel.More

The food is both good and plentiful. If you're a light eater, you're going to want to share a plate or bring a large purse for the leftovers. The staff is a joy, and they care about both the staff and the customers. Delicious food and large portions. Very friendly staff. Lots of German-Austrian character. Unique house salad with lots of shredded carrot and cucumber. Kids love the food.

We have been coming to this fine establishment for years. Always have the same dinner. Chicken cordon blue with soup of the day.I decided to try something different tonight, Beef stroganof with spetza. Meatball soup and red cabbage. Ordered 3 large schnitzels for pick up - person who took the order was very pleasant and very competent - all 3 schnitzels were almost 1/2“ thick, were more like large fast fry pork chops than schnitzels and tasted more like fast fry pork chops...than schnitzels (schnitzel translates into “slice” ie relatively thin perhaps half the thickness of these ) - chose pan fried potatoes with meal, came prepared with paprika (not described as such in menu) would have preferred to have been given choice at time of ordering as we are not huge fans of paprika. Last but not least difficult for patron to understand the difference between a large schnitzel and a small schnitzel - would be helpful for menu to incl size ie large approx 8 inches diam, small approx 6 inches diameter We werre disappointed with our schnitzels & pan fried potatoes but will probably order them again hoping that the schnitzels will be more like “slices” & of course try ordering the pan fies without paprikaMore

I have been coming to the Black Forest Inn since I was a little girl. This is a landmark restaurant! On busy nights, there is a bit of a wait- but with cocktail in hand and some good company, it shouldn't be a problem! An...enjoyable experience. The schnitzel was hot and tasty and perfectly accompanied by the red cabbage and spaetzle on the side. Delicious! And the cherry on top (literally!) was a slice of moist and delicious Black Forest cake. Service is very friendly and attentive. Thank you Black Forest Inn!!More
