We usually go to the one in Stoney Creek but thought we would try this location. The food is the same, which is amazing but the decor is different. Lunch the other day at yet another Vietnamese eatery. Enjoyed the vegetable pork and chicken egg noodle soup bowl and the rice paper shrimp rolls. I ordered from here via door dash and it was the worst pho I have ever had. The broth was so watery it was almost like dish water with some aromatics. I could not even eat it, and I've never not eaten my pho. I...will never get pho from here again. The one on Cannon St is so much better, this was a big let down.More

First, we LOVE this restaurant! However, our last take out order was not good at all. We had two orders which we picked up and when we arrived, the restaurant was a huge mess and not many patrons. There were 5 of us and asked for cutlery since a few people from our group couldn't manage...the chopsticks. Waitress came back with one set for 5 people. We have eaten at this restaurant once or twice a year for a few years now and the same problems still with the service. This afternoon my husband and I went after the lunch rush before dinner so we were one of three couples and...our meals were still 8 minutes apart being brought to the table! My husband was almost done! The food is very good but if you go with a large group it will be a long time inbetween each plate gets delivered. My wife and son have been wanting to eat here for some time so we finally decided to give it a shot. It is a lot bigger inside than I thought and nicely decorated. Since we had never eaten here before we had no idea...what to expect. After sitting down and getting menu's we were given a pot of tea. But after that there was no communication. We had no idea that we were supposed to write down what menu items we wanted. No one asked us if it was our first time or if we needed help on what to order. So after writing down 5 items a server came by looked at it and left. Within 15 minutes all our food came pouring out. No cutlery and no plates. We asked for both of them since we wanted to share all the different plates. But even though I didnt care for the service(just not used to that kind of eating experience) the food was made fresh, hot, tasty, and presented well. This review is for the Pho Dau Bo restaurant at 830 Upper James St in Hamilton. It didn't take long for us to be seated upon arrival. But soon after we realize that the night might be a disaster. We ordered soup for appetizer and...was told that we would have to order a soup meal from the menu to share among us as appetizer. The alternative was hot tea but there was no caffine free option. We ordered three meals for our party of three. The Pad Thai (which was made with ketchup as sauce) was delivered almost immediately but cold. By the time the other two meals were delivered the Pad Thai was a clump of cold noodles. Then the Seafood Stir fry was delivered with 3 shrimp, and 3 other piece of sea food that I am not sure what it was. I will sum it up as this...it was my first time there and it will be my last.
