Let’s start by saying that I am not a fan of fancy food! Fifteen of us went hear while in the area for work. Several of us were not excited at all about going after viewing their online menu but our hosts had picked this...place out so we went anyway. I am so glad we went! Every signal item that our group got was delicious. Hanger steak, lamb chops, shrimp, scallops, spring rolls, key lime pie, and cream brûlée. It all was fantastic. The service was awesome too.More

We had an enjoyable evening at Chez Piggys. Our waiter was excellent and able to engage with our kids in a playful and friendly way. The food choices were good and it was nice to have some creative vegetarian options for those in our party....Everyone enjoyed their mains and sides. Would recommend the scallops and bubbles. The only negative things was the front of house staff who did not greet us with a smile or asked if we wanted indoor or outdoor dining. We had a reservation. She said “this way and remember that there is a two hour limit on your table.” We appreciate that tables need to be turned and the reminder is fine, but when it is not with a smile or any warmth it did not leave a good first impression. As an out of town visitor, my friend wanted me to enjoy a nice lunch in Kingston. Chez Piggy was recommended. Tucked away, down an ally we found the restaurant. After being seated by courteous staff, I did explain to the server that my companion...was on a restricted diet, would not be ordering from the menu and did bring her own lunch. Server said that was ok. Shortly after my lunch arrived, so too did the manager/owner. She chastised my friend for bringing in food. “We don’t allow outside food being brought in” and repeatedly said “You should have called ahead”. I’m not sure how that was helpful - no room for spontaneity in her world. I was mortified, my friend deeply embarrassed. Said manager/owner lectured us like we were 12 year olds, then said it’s okay this time but don’t do it again. I suppose you could say we were left to feel ashamed. Not only did she not think to wonder why someone would bring in their own food she did not think to ask us either. Even to ask if there was anything on the menu that they could possibly prepare and modify that could work for her. To clarify, my friend’s lunch was not a take out order from another restaurant, it was not McDonald’s, or a pizza. It was a small serving of vegetables and chicken in a clear glass bowl. Very discreet. A meal for a person recovering from a very serious, life threatening disease and surgery resulting in a lifetime of careful meal prep. Maybe that was our cue to leave, maybe we should have challenged her, but we didn’t. We ate our lunch, tipped the server and went on our way. 24 hours later, and it still bugs me. The service industry is tough but we were not difficult customers. If anything the manager could have had a quiet word as we headed out the door. I’m not sure what she was trying to prove, but the smug look on her face and the shear look of embarrassment on my dear friend’s face said it all. Chez Piggy - good food, nice wait staff. Went for lunch with a friend; looking to get use of the last few days to sit and enjoy a patio meal. The atmosphere was great, really fantastic, but the chairs could be more comfortable on the patio. Perhaps a cushion? Server was awesome! I...ordered mussels, hold the hot chilies, but they were bland bland bland! She asked if I wanted the frites, (the normal accompaniment to mussels), and I said sure not realizing they were an additional $8 (on top of the $23 for mussels). WOW, some pricey fries, but glad I had them as they were the only thing with any flavour!More

Nice day, got a seat on their lovely patio. Servers were great. We were really impressed with the food. Had the spring rolls, which have been on the menu for years -- the best we've ever had. So crispy and delicious. Also had fishcakes which...were perfect. The fish was fresh and sweet, the cakes were perfectly seasoned and the sauce was just right. Also got the burger, which may be the best burger we've ever had in Ontario. Juicy and beefy, so good. Unusual coleslaw but we liked it, excellent addictive fries. Bar selection was great. Our friend didn't want alcohol so he tried the homemade root beer, which was complex and delicious. A wonderful lunch, in a pleasant environment, with attentive and very nice servers.More

Excellent service! Everything we ordered was delicious!! Nice location and beautiful atmosphere! Can't say anything negative about our experience.

Club Sandwich was awful and overpriced. Meat was scarce but the bread was fresh. Potato chips for a meal this pricey was just an insult. They seem to be relying on their history but they have gone downhill.

We decided to pop into Kingston and go to Chez Piggy for lunch and fortunately we did not have a long wait for a table. We shared a dozen oysters from PEI - excellent followed by the lunch special - a Niçoise salad with scallops...- delicious! Nice service, nice food. Can hardly wait to return for dinner in October!More

We recently had lunch at Chez Piggy and it did not disappoint. The Chez Piggy Club was delicious and the portions were very generous. Our server was very attentive. We love their patio in the courtyard. We look forward to our next visit.

Lucked on a Sunday afternoon and scooped up a patio table without a reservation. Lovely atmosphere, very delightful servers and a thoughtful brunch menu. Service was a bit on the slow side but we had arrived at the lunchtime peak. Food was artfully prepared and...beautifully presented. All around great experience.More

Excellent service! Christopher was top notch - kept checking on us , made sure our meals were satisfying and always kept a smile on his face. Super polite! The food was great! We had an enjoyable late lunch and weren’t hurried in the least.

We returned twice this week to Chez Piggy and were as pleased with the food preparation as we have been in the past. Of particular note was the high quality of the service, from greeting on arrival, to the taking of the order and the...serving of diner. The service was friendly in an appropriate way and not at all rushed. We had a very nice time at this excellent restaurant.More
