LCN has become our special treat when we come to Kingston to visit our daughter at school. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and a great bar/ wine list compliment a simple but outstanding French Bistro menu. Well worth the roughly $50pp if you have drinks and dessert. A must stop when in town for more than a day or two

I am in Kingston on business 6 times a year, day trip only so i have not experienced Le Chien Noir for dinner. The Lunch menu is , however , excellent. My stand by in the duck confit poutine. Simply outstanding and recently availble in a small serving. Can't rave enough about it. I recently had the Ruben with a... More

i don't go here very often, but when I do, it appears the menu is the same each time. Good place to eat if you haven't been, but after you've eaten there once, try some other places first in Kingston, before coming back again.

Every time I visit for Snowdelicious I am reminded why I don't patronize this restaurant when the meals are full price. The location is outstanding and the atmosphere very pleasant, but the food is inconsistent. There are a few exceptions on the menu... the steak frites option has never been less than great, for instance. Unfortunately, either because of reckless... More

This restaurant has a nice ambiance - cozy and nicely decorated. However the menu is very limited, which would be okay if the meals were exceptional but they are not. Our orders were okay but nothing special and certainly not worth the price. To be fair, a lot of people love this restaurant but to be honest, I don't get... More

Intriguing menu and excellent service. We tried several appetizers - the pork belly and the octopus and the duck - all very good. Would also recommend the Arctic char, the steak frites and the dinner pasta and , of course, the creme brûlée. Reservations advised.

Where to start, with the only positive part of the experience, the food wasn't half bad and maybe because of the prime location that's what keeps this place open. If they were not in such a high traffic area this place would be belly up in a month. Got there on time and our reserved table wasn't ready, no big... More

Le Chien Noir Bistro is situated directly across from the City Hall ice rink. It is a cozy, nicely retro decorated atmosphere to duck into, out of the wind, and to view without envy the hearty souls braving the December weather to skate outside. Two of our party ordered the Portobello on flatbread with salad accompaniment. We were hard pressed... More

We had a great dinner at this restaurant -- excellent service from the minute we arrived. Our table was ready, waiter was great, and all the choices we ordered came promptly. The food was well prepared and interesting. We will definitely come again.
