warm and inviting

My daughter in law and I had the pleasure of accidentally ending up at Bistro Stefan, last Saturday night. What a diamond we found. The dining room is warm and inviting, the staff polite and helpful and the food was excellent . We shared an appetizer, salad and a pasta dish and each enjoyed our own dessert. Go check this restaurant out if you haven't yet. You will not be disappointed.

Anniversary Celebration

My husband and I & and some close friends went to Bistro Stefan on October 16/20 to celebrate our 48th anniversary. When we arrived there was a card placed on the table welcoming us to Bistro Stefan and wishing us a happy anniversary! They brought complimentary garlic bread, and chocolate dipped strawberries at the end of the meal. The food was excellent as was our server Natalie. At the end they took a picture of us and framed it to mark our anniversary dinner. Everything was perfect, we would definitely recommend Bistro Stefan to everyone!!!

We had our buffet breakfast here and were very impressed with the food, the service and the attention to cleanliness. Everything was exceptional, from fresh cut fruit salad to a variety of cooked breakfast meats, sweets, and hot drinks. It was a touch of normalcy, provided with care. This was the best part of our stay at the hotel.

A great night

Absolutely beautiful meal. Went here for valentines and everything was delicious. Amazing service as well. We had (first course) salad, (second course) baked brie, quail, (3rd course) duck, arctic char, and fondue. The baked brie alone was enough for us to come back again. The sweet potato with the duck was surprisingly beyond expectations, a complete underdog. There was a set four course meal for Valentines day for $89.99/pp was certainly worth the price for the great night we had.

Very disappointed with the Prime Rib

Since we rediscovered Bistro Stefan for its setting and best Prime Rib anywhere we have made it a habit to go monthly, except over the summer. Having tried both 8 oz and 12 oz portions, we discovered the 12 was best cut. The thinner 8 tended be tougher. We were never disappointed until last night. We ordered the 12. When it arrived it looked thinner than memory served me. The last time was in April so I accepted my memory was faulty. As we tried eating it, we found it tough and chewy. Could barely cut it with the steak knife provided. We asked for a better knife to cut. Some improvement. We took home half of the portion. Out of interest I weighed it on a professional food weigh scale we own. Our combined half pieces together barely weighed 6 oz. In other words, we ordered 12 oz, paid for 12 oz and were served 8 oz portions. Too bad, we looked forward to a great meal and it didn’t deliver.

Worth a little splurge.

The food (baby spinach salad, roast beef c baked potato and stuffed ravioli) was delicious. The ravioli did not look enticing but it was amazing. The place has not lost its touch. Service was all one could desire. But they are only open Friday and Sat evenings. When we came at 5.30 the place was empty. With one glass wine and dessert just over $ 100 so not cheap but one is willing to pay when the food is so good.

The only "uptown" restaurant that easily matches the best of our downtown restaurants

For Kingston, it's the only "uptown" restaurant that easily matches the best of our downtown restaurants, where IMO the atmosphere and service excels. Hey, Bistro Stephan has been in business for decades (>30 yrs) AND the food, atmosphere and service have remained top notch. I grabbed dinner there last night while I waited for a train to arrive, picking up family. I had the clam chowder and roast beef which were totally yummy. The restaurant is part of an equally unusual Best Western hotel (check their rooms). It’s right off the 401 at Sir. JA, so very conveniently accessible with lots of free parking. Across the hall of the main lobby there’s a very fun bar. BRAVO and TY! See you again soon.

Excellent As Usual

We were here for an anniversary dinner on October 7th for 4 of us, and the meals were excellent. The server Bruce is the best, and Joanne checked on us too. We had thr turkey dinner special tonight, October 8th, and it was delicious from the squash soup right through to the pumpkin cheesecake. Our server was Kyle tonight, and he is excellent too. This is our “to go” place every month.

A great place for a special occasion

On a celebratory date night my boyfriend and I went to this lovely restaurant. The food and drinks were amazing including appetizers and mains. The atmosphere was classy and great for a date out and the staff were lovely. Some things were priced a bit on the high end for what they were ( mainly drinks) but the quality made up for it.

Great experience!

We needed a mid-January treat and saw on the menu that they have a lamb sirloin. There is no one else in Kingston, to my knowledge, that serve this. I had the lamb, hubby and friend had the Prime rib, fourth person had the chicken scalloping. All meals were excellent and cooked perfectly. Our server, Krystle, was very welcoming and efficient. Crème brûlée and a raspberry cream cheesecake were our chosen deserts and were equally excellent. The atmosphere is warm and cosy and we could not find a single fault with with any part of our evening. I highly recommend Bistro Stefan and we will be making many visits in the future.

Exquisite Dinner

My dear friend and I went to Bistro Stefan for a Saturday night dinner out! Between Manager Joanne and our server, Bruce, we could not have been better taken care of! Excellent atmosphere, our steaks were cooked to perfection and so flavourful. Bruce talked us right into dessert, mainly because we didn’t want to leave, and they were decadent. We can not say enough about our evening. Thank you, we’ll certainly be back soon!

Let's Try this Restaurant Bistro Stefan

This was our first visit to the Bistro and we were a little unsure of how it would be. We had traveled from Brockville. Krista the waitress made us feel very comfortable and welcomed. We ordered drinks and they came quickly. The main meal was very good and the desserts we terrific. Certainly, we will be back. thanks Krista and Bistro Stefan.

Surprising meal

I've been to most quality restaurants in Kingston but had never heard of this place. I accidentally came across a review and decided to try it. What a surprise! Beautiful place, great service and meal. Will definitely return and will recommend it [highly] to friends and family.

Easy to make reservation, really nice selection on the menu, fantastic meal, wonderful service. It was a 93rd b-day party. This is a special place with lots of personality and great atmosphere. It was such a great experience. We will be returning.
