We visited this restaurant on a recent Friday while enjoying a fall day at the point. Even though I had made reservations in advance (and arrived roughly on time!), we we found a warm greeting by name very satisfying. The restaurant was certainly not busy, perhaps one other table, given the time of day. We were ushered to our table at the window for maximum view. Our server Charmaine outlined the COVID-19 protocols so common these days and then highlighted their specialties. A few minutes to ponder the wine list, then one Freddies white and one glass of Pelee Pinot Grigio. Later, we ordered the 5-piece perch dinner split between the two of us, with garlic bread and an extra soup. We found the perch cooked to perfection, not overdone. The veggies were cooked to prime favour, yet not overcooked or soggy. Finished off the meal with a slice of chocolate fantasy cake and coffees. I must comment on the service which was great! Charmaine looked after all our needs but was not overbearing. Even the manager stopped by to chat with us about our trip and share his experiences in a COVID-19 environment. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Because of food allergies, I rarely walk into a restaurant without talking to them first. This time I made an exception based on other reviews and their tags that suggested they have gluten free and vegan options. The highlight of that decision was a staff member who went above and beyond to help me figure out what I could eat safely, which I did. Unfortunately the only thing I could eat was a $40 steak that was burnt rather than well done with a small side salad of lettuce, tomato and cucumber, with a bit of oil to dress it with. While this was what they could do given my allergies, we were shocked that they still charged me $40 for what they cobbled together. As people who rarely splurge on a fancy dinner, this was a regrettable experience. Nevertheless, I would not discourage a person without food limitations from eating here. I just won’t be back ever again myself and would caution others who may think like I did that this would be a good option given their food limitations.

This is a nice family-run place and they are making a good go of it. The staff were very friendly and their patio was an oasis (we were visited by a hummingbird!). They are nicely situated near the National Park. And my friend and I had two very fine burgers, she had the "Freddy Burger" with their special garlic sauce and I had the Perch Burger special. They were both tasty and came with a LOT of french fries - great fries but more than we needed. But the prices! Really too much for what you get. I understand it is hard to make a go of it these days but I just don't know if $18 for a burger is justified, no matter how good the burger is. Some of their other menu options (which we didn't try) also seemed way too much for what they should have been. I don't know the economics of running a restaurant in Leamington. I want to really like this place, hence the "Very Good" review. But if you are concerned about price points, you might want to avoid it. Oh - and ignore anything their website says about live music on Wednesdays. It isn't happening these days.

Consider the Tater Tot. Imagine three of them on a small plate, accompanied by a bowl of mediocre French fries. That’s the breadth and scope of the $20 three-piece perch “dinner” here at Freddy’s. Cole slaw is extra, and not very good. But where Freddy’s really shines is in the service. Our server left us on the patio for at least 20 minutes. Around us, other servers were fouling up simple orders with aplomb, and people were complaining. The people at the table next to us, patiently awaiting a second round of drinks and their food order after 30 minutes, were offered dessert. The manager came out to check on things, and when he asked how our experience had been, I told him, politely. I suggested that his staff might benefit from some basic training. Instead of apologizing or offering a make-good, he decided to argue with me, and complained about how he just couldn’t get good staff because of COVID-19. He made similar remarks to the complaining customers around us. If you look through the management comments on negative reviews posted below, you’ll get the drift. Ridiculous prices, bad service—it’s always someone else’s fault. The perch? I’ve had better. And the portions, so small! Birdie’s Perch just down the road would likely be a much better choice.

Your comments are completely inaccurate. Perch is extremely expensive and very hard to catch. Fishing boats are going out and coming back with 13lbs or maybe 150lbs. Normal catch is 2000lbs minium. This is causing more of a market price scenario. We have been avoiding that for as long as we can. As for staff. Yes we are short staffed but so is every industry, but if you are paying attention to what is going on in this world you would know that. By the way, our staff is very young and inexperienced but are giving 150%. I can't be anymore great full for everything they are doing but thank you for your opinion.

We were so looking forward to this dining experience based on the reviews. We have walked by several times and never a line up and always empty tables so we really didn't see an issue going over at 5:15 on Saturday for dinner. When we arrived we were asked if we had reservations. We did not but they were kind enough to seat us advising we would need to leave by 6:30 as there were reservations. No issue. We ordered an appetizer and a beverage and when this was brought we ordered our meals. An HOUR later we questioned where our dinner was as we were going to be challenged to eat and leave by 6:30. One of us ordered the soup of the day which was onion soup and that is not what arrived, I ordered garlic pan fried perch which is not what was on my plate and a Caesar that we requested no tabasco had tabasco. This we waited over an hour for. Tried speaking to the manager who really did not seem to care. Disappointed. Overpriced and need to do a better job with the service.

Went for Lunch with another couple and ordered 3 pc perch and 5 pc perch. Tiny pieces of fish served on less than a leaf of lettuce and a few fries. (no coleslaw) 2 ice teas - bill over $70.00. Their bill was even more as they had ordered 2 - 5 pc perch and water to drink - While the food was tasty, we certainly will not be visiting again. Server (owner) appeared very stressed and abrupt. Not a great experience. There are many excellent restaurants in the Leamington, Kingsville, area. too bad he is trying to recover his lost (covid) revenue on the lunch menu.

Ordered 2 beers and the blackened perch for lunch that came with fries for $27 and my husband had the perch sandwich with fries. We asked if we could switch out the fries for sweet potato fries and were told yes, no mention of extra cost. My meal came with three tiny pieces/bites of lukewarm fish and the sweet potato fries. The bill came to $85 PLUS tip, they had charged $7 each to swap out the fries! Essentially the sweet potato fries cost $17 per person (as fries alone on the menu are $10).

We had this discussion in person and on the menu it states that sweet fries were an extra charge. So why is this a surprise is beyond me? But according to your reasoning we all should be able to fill up premium fuel at the cost of regular.

We went here a few days ago and got 2 steak wraps, and 2 beers, it came around 58$, before the tip.. The steak wraps were tiny and it came with a bowl of fries, nothing else.. It was supposed to have mushrooms and cheese, I think I had maybe 1 mushroom and hardly any cheese on mine at all, for 19$ for the wrap I sure expected a lot more... Nothing special here, won’t be returning...

Thank you for your comments, I assure you we put lots of fresh mushrooms and cheese on every wrap. And depending on the beer you ordered premium beer is more expensive. Also keep in mind we serve tall boy cans and 2 sizes of draft a 16oz and a 20oz One more thing have you been grocery shopping lately? Have you seen your grocery bill increase by 15 to 20%? We have

The perch here was fantastic - best perch I've ever had in a restaurant. It is offered cooked three different ways: panko crusted & fried; blackened; or sauted in garlic butter. The fried had a wonderful very thin crust & was perfect. The sauted is a great choice for anyone with a shellfish allergy and the garlic butter taste was very mild and did not overwhelm the delicate perch. Sweet potato fries were very thin & crispy. Staff were very friendly & efficient. Also, a very decent wine list for a small family restaurant. Note: a recent reviewer said this place was over-priced. I disagree - perch is quite expensive these days. The prices here were comparable or less than prices I've seen elsewhere.

We enjoyed our lunch on the patio under the locust trees and beside the grapevines and elephant ear plants. Started with the tasty fattoush salad followed by generous portions of pan seared pickeral for myself and the blackened yellow perch for my wife. Charming staff and a most enjoyable lunch. The best of it’s kind as we have been sampling these dishes on the Lake Erie north shore between Port Dover, Erieau, Pelee Island and Point Pelee.

Terrible service, broken chairs, lost orders and extremely over priced. The worst part was the lax staff who were disorganized and slow. The staff was very slow to take our orders. The food came out in pairs and one set of orders were completely lost! Thus the rest of the group of 12 were finished eating before the last two had their meal. The portions were very small and over priced. $24 for two 3” fish tacos with fries! $15 for a small side salad The staff were unprofessional and poorly trained. I will not go back.

We had takeout twice during our recent visit to Leamington and were pleased with the food and friendly service. Excellent perch tacos, grilled chicken kebob and a chicken stir fry, all served with a delicious rice. Prices are on the high side, portions average as opposed to generous. The interior is looking quite shabby so, hopefully, Leamington will recover from COVID-19, business will return to normal and they will be able to freshen up the inside.

We recently had dinner at freddys and we were looking so forward to dinner on the patio especially since it’s such a great place. I understand that they just reopened due to covid and were busy but our meals were not up to par. Burger was overdone and dry and my meal was so undercooked I couldn’t eat it. Salads and wine were awesome and we will return but will wait a bit.

The Good: Location just outside the park is great while we were staying at Point Pelee National Park. We had the perch fish and chips (tasty but very small portions), and a falafel wrap (tasty but less filling in the wrap than you'd expect), and two of their "house" beers. Service was very friendly. The Bad: It's very expensive for what it is. Our dinner was over $75 with tax and tip. The tap list is not listed, so we didn't see how much they were charging for a our two small beers until after, which felt a bit cheeky. I expected the perch portion to be small based on experiences elsewhere. (It's fresh local fish, etc.) I was a bit surprised there wasn't more veggies in the falafel wrap. Whether it's inflation or just tourist prices, be prepared. We enjoyed our visit but if you are cost conscious consider heading farther into town for cheaper options.

Our food was really disappointing. Two very small tacos didn’t merit the price. Hummus had little flavor and the “fish chowder” was billed as “clam chowder” and the grayish cupful bore no discernible signs of either fish or clams. Our experience this week was nothing like the positive reviews that took us to Freddy’s.
