YUM! We went here with friends and my husband and I shared the tomahawk steak. It was incredible. We also got the Cesar salad and it was also amazing. Staff were great. Ambiance was nice. We have gone back a couple times already. Great spot...for a lovely dinner.More

Had a lovely dinner with friends. I have eaten here several times over the last 30 years so lots of nostalgia attached to this experience. If it is your first time, the ambiance/decor may feel a bit dated - except for the new art work....Menu is very heavy on meat dishes. No table side preparation is being offered at this time which is disappointing because the price is higher due to that enhanced experience. Service was impeccable- so very polite and attentive. Taste of food was delicious. We ordered caesar salad, strawberry salad, lime shrimp, steak Diane, lamb and the scallop pasta. Portions were generous and well presented. Paid corkage fee and brought our own wine. An aerated decanter was provided. Only disappointment was dessert. We had the drunken monkey - value not there for serving size and bananas were too firm.More

We had not visited this restaurant in quite sometime. We went on a Thursday night so that we could enjoy the group that was entertaining on the patio as we knew their music was great. We decided to order what we had in the past...which was the Chateaubriand. We were not advised that due to covid it could not be prepared tableside. Had we been told we would have ordered from the special menu. Everything was cold by the time it got to the table. The meat was not of good quality. Not once did any staff come near us to ask how we were enjoying the meal. Our empty plates sat on the table for a long time . The dish the sauce was in was left on the table until I asked the staff to remove it about twenty minutes after she had finally removed the plates. Another feature that we have enjoyed in the past was the staff pouring the wine for us. After she brought our dinner she never came back until she removed the dishes. We eat out a fair bit at much cheaper restaurants and receive far better service. The saving grace for us was the entertainment was great. All in all it was extremely disappointing. For the $180.00 we were charged for two, we could have ate at less expensive restaurants a few times. We are not in the habit of giving bad reviews and we know that Covid has impacted the restaurants greatly, but this was unacceptable for a restaurant of this calibre.More

Dined on the patio in the back which was put in place as part of pandemic restrictions. As such, ambiance is make shift. A very nice jazz band though. Ordered old fashioned cocktail. It was so so. Presentation was humdrum and a bit on the...boozy side. Staff was pleasant and fairly attentive. We ordered escargot, sausage roll, and the starter for appetizers. All were mediocre. Steak Diane and duck l’orange for entres. The beef was a very nice cut and cooked nicely. The duck was fine And cooked nicely. In both cases the sauces lacked sophistication; too thick overstated. More like a grandmas gravy than a gourmet sauce. Definitely not French. The sides, the daily potatoes and boiled veg, were surprisingly plain and pedestrian. Overall, a good meal but overpriced And a bit disappointing given the reputation. Grandma will love it; just don’t tell her what the bill was.More

Another great meal at Michael’s., our favourite spot for celebrations. We really enjoyed the new patio with live music. Great to be outdoors enjoying the company and the music. Maria never fails to impress with her tableside Caesar salad and sticky toffee pudding dessert! Thank...you Michelle for exceptional service. See you again soon.More

We ordered our dinner on Saturday (restaurant is closed because of COVID19 restrictions) to be delivered to our home (in London). It was delivered on time, still hot, very tasty and the bottle of wine we ordered was not included in our bill. This was...our 39 Anniversary and we would like to say thank you Michael's on the Thames for an amazing gesture and we recommend the place for any occasion. We have been in the restaurant during pandemic in fall with our friends (when they were open) and as always the food was fantastic and the safety measure were all applied.More

Generally, we have to have patience and flexibility when it comes to restaurant experiences during COVID-19 and lockdowns. I get it. I have been really trying hard to support local restaurants. I have a vested interest in not seeing our local economy collapse. As a...result, my family of 6 have been ordering out as much as we can. I had a very special occassion planned with Michael's on the Thames for a milestone birthday that was planned well in advance of Dec 30. The planning was scaled down with each public health measure impact. Perhaps 2 weeks before the event, I received a cancellation which is understandable. Nevertheless, I still wanted to support them so instead of dining in we ordered food for this milestone birthday. We ordered the day before to ensure there was plenty of time to prep. Well, when dinner was supposed to arrive the next day it didn't. I called the restaurant and was told they have no record of my order from the previous day. I had to re-order everything and wait for over an hour. We were all dressed up to mark a special occassion over dinner. It was sad, frustrating and unfortunate. Well, after the food arrived slightly warm, we ate it. Not the best eating experience but it was okay. The bill was around $250 for 6 people so I guess we expected better. A couple of hours later, everyone has gut problems of all sorts. Unfortunate, but it can happen. So, I contacted the owner by email to express my frustrations. It's been over 3 weeks and no response back. That's the part that is unacceptable. Yes, lots of busyness that everyone endures these days but I don't experience this at other restaurants that I'm trying to support. So, my learning is pretty clear. Sorry, but I won't continue to support Michael's on the Thames. Customers are still looking for a good experience as we try and support restaurants through lockdown measures. We'll apply patience and understanding but there is still some expectations to meet for customer experience.More

It has been years since going to Michael's and I forgot just how wonderful an evening it can be. With live music softly playing in the background and romantic lighting casting a warm, comfortable glow the setting while overlooking the river was perfect for a...Romantic dinner for my wife and I. Remembering the famous Caesar salad from the Restaurant's past, we were not disappointed with the present as it is made to order with the finest ingredients. Our main course, Chateaubriand for two, was delicious, cooked just right so that it would melt in your mouth or wash away with the robust Barolo we selected as our wine. If you dare to finish everything on your plate, you will be challenged by the tempting deserts. Sticky toffee pudding for two, I dare you! You will love it!More

We went to celebrate a special anniversary. The patio area was nice although separated from the rest of the restaurant if you need to use the washroom. Neither of us had been here before but have been wanting to try it for years. I've heard...amazing things about the Caesar salad but was disappointed. We got the "tableside" salad and I've had much better elsewhere. The lettuce didn't seem very fresh and the parmesan wasn't even fresh parmesan - just shaken stuff like the Kraft shaken parm. For $30, I it was not worth it. Our dinners were both decent, although definitely on the pricier side - an extremely $10 for 4 pieces of shrimp in a pasta seems like a lot. The best part were the mixed drinks (like sangria), which were delicious. Overall after a $200 which included 4 drinks, we felt like we could've spent less and had a better meal elsewhere. I'm happy we finally tried it here but I don't think we'll be back.More
