My husband and I had a most enjoyable dinner at Michael’s to celebrate both New Year’s Eve and our wedding anniversary. We wanted a nice, quiet dinner, not a lot of phoney hoopla with noisemakers. There is always a special menu for New Year’s, and everything was excellent. We both ordered rack of lamb cooked medium-rare, and it was cooked perfectly. Our waiter was courteous and prompt, without making us feel rushed. We have thoroughly enjoyed a number of New Year’s Eve dinners at Michael’s, and expect to return for more.

A solid menu and great wait staff.
This place is fine and fancy, but still remains approachable to the general public. Those with a little more cash to spend will delight in the pricier menu options and wine list.
The restaurant is now offering their Wild game menu, which brings even more variety to your visit. Treat yourself. I got the Bison Rib eye and while it was quite fatty, I enjoyed it.
The only reason the restaurant does not get 5 stars is because of the unnecessary high prices and the lack of ambience. The dining room feels like you are eating in a hotel conference room. There is no decor, no paint, no theme, just drab grey walls. So odd for a place like this. I'd like to return.

After hearing about this restaurant for a few years now I finally had the chance to dine here last week and the raves were justified. My husband + I both opted for the cioppino and it was delicious + full of shellfish. We were,however, both somewhat nervous about not having the tomato broth splatter our clothing! A white linen bib would have been a very thoughtful addition! Because we hadn't had an appetizer we felt that we could justify ordering dessert and also because sticky toffee pudding is a favourite of my husbands's, he ordered that while I opted for fresh berries. The fruit was beautifully presented- a simple combination of strawberries, blackberries and blueberries garnished with mint + a dollop of cream. My husband's sticky toffee pudding was a little bit too dry to be very sticky. I think it is understandable that these days it is probably ordered less often. Perhaps a good solution would be a small serving of extra sauce maybe even offered as an option
Overall it was a very good meal and I look forward to returning..

I had heard great things about Michael's from other reviews, so my wife and I decided to make it our go-to destination for our 14th wedding anniversary. The staff was down-to-earth, friendly and genuine, and made us feel right at home. They found a great little spot tucked away from everyone where we could have a nice evening together.
Everything from the champagne, the shrimp cocktail appetizer, to our main courses and desserts (which they gifted us on the house for our anniversary) was absolutely perfect. Michael's managed to trump the best penne I've ever eaten, and my wife's veal was incredible. The cheesecake dessert we had was a special thing; light as a feather, and an amazing end to the night.
All this, with prices that are MORE than fair, and portions that are generous, yet not TOO much. We didn't leave there feeling stuffed. We left there feeling fulfilled.
We both loved the ambiance of the restaurant, the dim (yet adjustable) lighting, and of course, the amazing service. A lot of restaurants are too concerned with taking orders and flipping tables, while giving you the standard level of service. At Michael's, we felt like friends, which is a hard feeling to pull off! Definitely recommended, and easily one of the best restaurants in the GTA.

Having had the obligatory giggle about the name of the restaurant, we went to investigate, and we were not disappointed. From the warm, friendly welcome from owner, Michael Jr, through to the humourous banter and genuine conversation from our server, Joseph, we felt as if we were returning friends, despite this being our first visit. This place ain't cheap, but the quality of the food and the atmosphere is unquestionable. Go there if you want to experience laid back, intensely flavoured, fine Italian cuisine.

An early Valentines dinner out.
My wife had, the rack of lamb , rated excellent. I had the sea food linguini dish. It was quite good.
A bit disappointed that our waiter did not tell up about the specials , that were available, overheard from another table. Being on a restricted diet, one of the fish specials would have been an option that I would have liked.
Was he the waiter having a bad night, we all have off days.
Our fault for not asking if there were any specials.
My capaccini was ok , I have had better. Mrs. had a toffee pudding cake, she said it was quite good.
Oh, also had the VQA house reisling wine, nice and crisp.
A pleasant evening overall. We shall return.

Thank you Michael (Jr &Sr) for a delicious takeout dinner my sister and brother pickup to celebrate our parents 66 wedding anniversary! Your restaurant is a family favorite! This is our "go to" restaurant for special occasions. The food is impeccable and they always give you enough to take home.... or maybe I eat like a bird.. but I got 2 portions of trout. The prices are reasonable and the staff is very professional and friendly.

Service very good + Very Friendly staff. We had the mussels in a tomato wine sauce. Again Very good. Lovely Italian sparkling water. 1/2 liter of pino grigo house wine. I've had better, but to each his or her own. Mrs. liked the wine.
Dinner, my choice was a seafood pasta in a tomato sauce. Very good ! Huge Shrimp, scallops 2 each with a clam and a good member of clams.
I definitely would order it again.
Mrs. chose the venison chops (2) medium .
(Life becomes dull unless you try something different. )
It was different but not again. Gamey.
Spanish Coffee, and I a Tia Maria and Grand Mariner.
We shall return.
Dessert, tiramusso, and I a lemon sorbet.
An excellent dinner experience.

This was our office Christmas party and after two years of Covid we wanted it to be special! The ambience at Michael’s Back Door is excellent, the food great with a lot of variety and beautiful presentation. But the service-WOW!! It was so exceptional that it exceeded all our expectations. Everything was timed well and we were able to play games and visit and open gifts and our server, Tuan, was wonderful. He was attentive and prompt without being intrusive. The salmon was outstanding! I will definitely be going back and I highly recommend Michael’s for any evening you want to have a great time!

We had a lovely 90th Birthday celebration in one of their party rooms. The food was fantastic, the service even better. Shout out to Joseph who took great care of all 30 of us. They even did a custom cake for us and it was fantastic! Thank you again for a memorable night.

It's been awhile since I'd been there, but it continues to provide excellent, authentic Italian! I shared Arancini, Vitello Sorrentino and Rabbits Leg with my wife. Delicious! Attentive service from Wendy! Nice house wine! I'll be back sooner!

Terrific fine-dining restaurant in the Clarkson area of Mississauga. Tired of the crowds and line-ups in Port Credit? Drive 10 minutes west! Discovered this place during Covid, and have come back many times since. Good food, good wine, good service, and nice decor. What more can one ask for? Note - this is a fine dining restaurant, with prices to match.

A very lovely restaurant. Ambience was very nice. Food was exceptional and service was great. I ordered the Branzino and it was delicious. We enjoyed the semi-private dining room. I enjoyed having my birthday dinner here with my family.
