Christmas Day 2022 we discovered Masaki Sushi. We had Saki tasting which the owner explained every kind with great knowledge to perfection. Sushi was the fresh and was a melt in your mouth experience. We had some fresh from Japan. Our server was very knowledgeable...as well. It was a culinary experience like no other. I felt we were in an Anthony Bourdain episode. We are already making plans for our next visit for my birthday. It’s worth the 1 1/2 hour drive just for the food.More

It was a “dark and stormy night” when we arrived. (Be warned this place is not accessible rated…you need to use the stairs) We were cold and damp when we arrived so not in a great mood. BUT.. the warm welcome and bright interior soon...made us feel better. The service was very attentive but not annoyingly over done. Our food…well let’s just say this is our new favourite Sushi place. It’s worth the drive to NOTL for some excellent sushi If you love authentic sushi, do yourself a favour and check this place out.More

I picked Masaki for my birthday dinner, and did not regret it! The food is just out of this world! Fresh, tasty and scrumptious! Kozue, our delightful server, added to this pleasant dinner experience. If and when you are in the area, and want to...try authentic Japanese, don’t think twice: Masaki IS your go-to restaurant. You will need to book because it is not a big restaurant, and it can get quite busy! No wonder Masaki is always ranked #1 on Trip Advisor, and has been for several years now!More

I urge you to dine at Masaki Sushi, you will not be disappointed. The menu offers a great deal to choose from with very good descriptions of what is in each dish. We started with the gyoza, which were lovely, then opted for the Seafood...Stone Bowl and the Ginger Chicken Stone Bowl for our mains. Absolutely delicious and very generous portions, but not overwhelming. To finish we had Green Tea ice cream that was delightful. The atmosphere was a little stark for my liking but each staff member we dealt with was friendly and warm. It was fascinating to watch the chef prepare meals too. I can well understand why this restaurant has won awards. I would like to go back and try some other items on the menu.More

I have eaten at Masaki Sushi twice and both times have been exceptional. A real gem in NOTL. A great location close to the Shaw Festival. Very fresh food, great quality sushi, very good service and good portions. Would highly recommend.

This gem is tucked into the basement of a little inn at one end of the main drag, just around the corner from the Shaw Festival. We read previous review of Masaki on this site, but honestly, our meal far exceeded our expectations. The fish...for sushi was fresh, expertly cut, and well presented. We started with gyoza dumplings, which were large, tasty and beautifully browned in the pan. I had a pork belly bowl, which was huge, flavourful, and with crispy edges on the meat. A small, but telling point: the gari ginger was delicious and not the usual pink. The saki selection was overwhelming. We'd consider coming back not just for a Shaw play, but for another meal. Oh, and not at all overpriced like so much of NotL. Do go.More

This is so far the best sushi restaurant I have tried in the Niagara/ Niagara on the Lake region. Service is good. Food is of very good quality. Tried their salmon salad, premium sashimi and premium sushi plates. Very generous portions. We had enough left...over for one person's lunch the following day. Fish is very fresh and are all of premium quality from Japan.More

Fresh food, decent menu, typical sushi sized portions. OK sushi, not great. If in town I wouldn’t return nor would I recommend this place. Not that there’s anything wrong, it’s just OK.

My wife and I ate here Sunday night and were MOST impressed. We both love Japanese food and when we left, we both agreed that this may have been the best Japanese meal ever, and cant wait to return. We both shared a sushi appetizer,...which was outstanding, and we both had our own hot stone baked clay bowl entrée. Simply put, the food is amazing. The entrees were served by the manager (or owner?) who you could see took great pride in these dishes and was most appreciative of our patronage. We live in the GTA and will be making frequent trips back to our favorite Japanese restaurant.More

The freshness of the fish used for their sashimi and sushi is outstanding! And the preparation by the chef of everything we ordered, especially the sushi and sashimi, rivals the best that Toronto Japanese restaurants can offer! The drinks menu has a page devoted to...sake flights. We tried the “funky sake flight” featuring 3 sakes that were so different from one another. We enjoyed the 3 sakes, sipping away at the 3 small glasses (60 ml each), during our dinner.More
