We were staying in the Captains room in this historic gem (c.1815) for 4 nights and visited the taproom and patio on 4 occasions. We love the menu and tried quite a few offerings. The Fisherman's pie was great with crab, shrimp, scallops and fish and came with a large salad. We liked the lemon pepper dry rub wings and the BBQ bacon scallops that had a lot of cheese, that wasn't part of the recipe the 1st two times we had it in 2016 and 2019, though it was still good. We sat outside on the raised patio one evening under the lights and had a very good chicken and peach pie and a Shepherd's pie with baguette. The patio is outstanding in layout and even has a putting green. On the drink front they had a nice, varied selection on tap (20z) and we seemed to lock in on the excellent Angel Inn Lager and the Oast Peach Wheat Hefeweizen while also drinking a Steam Whistle, Tennent's, and the Angel Inn Pilsner. The staff all week was fantastic, personable, efficient and running everywhere at such a speed on a crowded Thursday night when the Hittman provided the music. The Hittman were one of the best bar bands we have heard, with a driving repertoire of music playing for 3 hours. The Inn has music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons. What a delight to be able to enjoy the taproom and then just walk upstairs to your room. We love the history and authenticness of the property and look forward to another visit.

We had a fabulous time at this place. Megan H. was our server and she was spot on what to order and we ended up ordering various types of drinks and food. This place has a great vibe and also serves excellent food. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, this place is a must visit.

Great pub with lots of history! Food was excellent and HUGE quantities! The fish sandwich comes with two LARGE pieces! Great fries/chips to go along with the fish as well! Building was very interesting, we loved the entire experience! Best place in NOTL!

After visiting Nagria Falls, we went to the Angel Inn for drinks and food. Our family, knowing we're British, thought we'd enjoy the pub-like atmosphere. We requested a table for 10 and were seated at the back of the restaurant. From the start, our waitress was quite abrupt when taking our orders and handling the bill splitting. The food was delicious, although somewhat pricey, I felt it was worth the cost. After finishing our meals, our waitress brought our bills. As we were paying, she scolded us for not leaving an adequate tip, claiming she was "losing money" since she has to pay the kitchen staff and expected a 20% tip. She was overheard complaining to her colleagues about the tip amount, which we found very unprofessional. Tips are optional, and we were not informed about any mandatory gratuity. This upset one of our family members and put a damper on an otherwise enjoyable day. I would only recommend this place if you are prepared to tip generously.

This place has been our go to restaurant for decades while visiting NOTL. We are not big eaters, so opted to share the beef dip. Bun was soggy, making it impossible to eat as a sandwich. Dipping gravy was missed and when it arrived we were almost done. We ordered a side salad which would have been $18, (outrageous), so the staff upgraded the fries to a salad ($6 premium) and added a side of fries for $11 (again outrageous) and most went in the bin. This combination save us a buck. I guess we should have asked the price of a “side” salad which we would have passed on had we known the price. Save your money here, there are much better places in NOTL, which are more flexible with upgrade options.

My husband and I have visited the Angel Inn on several occasions. And have always enjoyed our meals. Tonight we weee disappointed. I ordered the hot beef dip and when it came the fries were cold. I sent it back. $ 24.00 for a small beef on a bun and French fries is not inexpensive…. it should be hot! My husband ordered fish and chips also $24.00 his fries were not hot either. We were not asked for drink refills our entire meal…. We went up to the bar to request another drink. When that drink was finished we were not asked for a refill either. The restaurant was not busy. Such poor service and extremely disappointing food. In the end I watched my husband have his meal … And then by the time my meal came back he watched my eat my meal. Not really enjoying a meal Out together. We left feeling ripped off and will not be returning. What a shame. Used to be able to depend on it for a decent meal….. not any more

A very good imitation of an English pub, with many menu items to match, from steak and kidney pie to sticky toffee pudding. We wanted a fairly light lunch so chose from the appetizer menu. I chose bacon-wrapped scallops and my wife chose the crab cake. All I can say nice about my scallops is that the accompanying garlic bread was excellent, as was the local cider. But the scallops themselves were way overcooked (we arrived about 1:30 p.m.) The bacon was rock hard and the scallops were totally tasteless because they were overwhelmed by it. My wife’s crab cake was “okay” but accompanied by a brown sauce, not chipotle mayonnaise as stated on menu. So overall disappointing lunch for me. I should have complained about my scallops, but we were already late, so I can’t complain too much. It was edible, albeit only just.

We have eaten here many times over the years. I love the old historic setting of the restaurant. The food and service has always been excellent. I have never been disappointed. Very disappointing meal tonight. I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap with fries and I have to say McDonald’s probably makes a better chicken Caesar wrap and it doesn’t cost $24! Honestly barely any dressing on the wrap, hardly any chicken, maybe a crumb of bacon, hardly any lettuce. A lot of wrap with not much inside . Cheese? What cheese? We ate right at the bar and his service was atrociously slow too. We come to NOTL every year once or twice at least if not more and often eat here. We will be avoiding the Olde Angel Inn the next time we come to NOTL. Very disappointing. If you come here to eat be warned …. Expensive a lot of fries and …. Don’t order the chicken Caesar wrap!

On our recent trip yo NOTL, several people suggested we check out the Olde Angle Inn. Well we called to make a reservation and were told we did not need one. We arrived ten minutes later and we got one of the last tables on the patio and the staff seemed overwhelmed. Service was slow, but we could forgive that but some of the errors cannot be overlooked and point to jamming too many people on their patio or not enough staff. It was not a relaxing meal with servers rushing around forgetting to bring cutlery or the condiment tray. Even getting water was difficult. The food itself was ok. We started with the fried pickles and then I had steak guiness and onion pie. It was good but not much flavour from the Guiness. My wife had Shepards pie, and again good but nothing outstanding. The atmosphere is lovely so maybe try to go at off peak hours.

On Thursday October 10th my family of 6 arrived at the Angel Inn at 5 o'clock to make reservations for 6:30. We spoke to a server at the bar and he informed me that we do not take reservations. I thanked him and we went shopping on the street. We arrived back at the Angel Inn at 6:15 and asked for a table for 6. We were told that we could not be seated right away and could we form a line outside the front door. I told him we will grab a drink at the bar until he can seat us. While we were standing waiting for our drinks a gentleman named PXXXX comes in and speaks to the same server and says he has a reservation for 4 people. The server checks the restaurant and then seats them. When the server came back to the bar I mentioned to him that 1 hour ago he told me that we don't take reservations. He looked at me and I guess recognized me from earlier and said that we don't take reservations for less than 5 people. I reminded him that I had a family of 6 and you just seated PXXXX with 4 people. Your server didn't say anything for a few seconds, I thanked him and left the pub and dined at Corks. I have only used the patron's first initial and not used the server's name. We are frequent Angel Inn diners. Is there some reason why you take some reservations but not others? I did send an email to the Angel Inn asking for clarification but have not received a response.

My husband and I have visited this establishment for years and just this year the service has been awful. We were seated at a table and we were placing our orders, and I was told by our waiter that the veggie jerk chicken that I was ordering jerk enough to his liking and I said well I’m gonna order it anyway while We got our drinks and while we were waiting for our food he places two glasses of club soda with orange slices on it and walked by and I said this is ours and he goes. Oh yeah that’s for the other table, During our meal he never came back to ask us how we were doing how was the food or if we would like another drink and he walked by our table so many times and then he came over and proceeded to clean the table off and I said I would like a dessert and he brought that and ceremoniously plopped it down and left and I finished my dessert and we sat there for another 15 to 20 minutes waiting for him to come over and take our bill bring our bill The last time we were in there, we had terrible service with the waiter disappearing, and I had to actually flag down another waitress to tell her that we were ready to leave and I know that wasn’t her table and so we could get out of there. The food was good but I think we are going to pass on the place for a while and hopefully they hire competent staff

We chose this place for lunch because The Olde Angel Inn is one of the oldest pubs in Canada - built in 1789, and rebuilt after the War of 1812. Inside is a great atmosphere with plenty of interesting and historical items to look at while you are there. The lighting, the beams, and thick plank floors from the 1800s make it cozy. My husband had the steak poutine. He said it was very flavorful, but didn't have much meat in it. I had the Fisherman's Pie, and it was extraordinarily delicious. I loved it, and I wouldn't mind driving six hours to go there so I can order it again. It was served with a delicious side salad that looked too good to eat, I am going to write or call them to see if they would share the recipe for that Fisherman's Pie.

It is a casual pub. The fish and chips had more batter than fish. The shepherds pie serving was small and not as tasty as I’m used to. The next night we went to our usual pub and had a better meal.

We stopped in for an pre theatre lunch. Seating was prompt as was the service. One of our drink requests was unavailable ( as were 3 alternatives. This was a Friday what was said to be one of the busiest weekends of the year! I had fish and chips which was fairly good and of adequate portion. My wife had curry chicken which was mediocre at best- dry chicken with no depth of flavour. Served over what became soggy fries. We felt rushed by the server. Main interest would appear to be volume of clients. Would not recommend or return

My wife and I went to the Olde Angel Inn for lunch. We loved the atmosphere (old English pub style)! The service was spot on. Our server didn't hover, but seemed to always appear when we needed her. She also had a good (beer) suggestion to go with our meal. The food was delicious, just what good pub fare should be. I had the Steak Guinness & onion pie. Although it isn't traditional pub fare I ordered a crème brulee for dessert. I like to test restaurants on their ability to make this, because it isn't easy getting this just right. Well it was as close to perfect as you can get, in my opinion. Definitely worth a special trip.
