As a pie maker myself, I can honestly say that these pies are DELICIOUS and generous with the filling. The crust is so flaky and baked to perfection. For this, they get a 5/5 rating, BUT...unfortunately, if you want to enjoy a slice of pie,...it is hit and miss. My husband and I used to frequent the original location on Niagara Stone Rd. for lunch and pie when we came to town but, even though it was usually early afternoon, they often had one pie left for slices, if you were lucky. So we stopped going there for the lack of availability and variety of sliced pie. When we heard that they opened a new location as a casual, counter service set-up only, we were very excited. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. There was one pie left for slices to enjoy on the premises or take-out. It happened to be strawberry-rhubarb which we love but, it was only 3pm on a Saturday and they didn't close until 6pm!!!! Maybe it's just us but, if a place is called 'The Pie Plate', one expects a variety of pie slices available. The service is friendly but, not precise or with any urgency which was the same at the original location. But, we can overlook that if they only had pies. NOTE: If you want a whole pie, it goes without saying that you have to order in advance.More
For years and years we loved the old location with its excellent pizza and desserts and quaint atmosphere. Today we found it surprisingly expensive and very average. $4.50 for a small butter tart. Really?? Focaccia slices at $8.50 each were just ok, nothing special. Miss...our old favourite. Might give it one more try for their peach pizza! It was divine!More
After watching the LCBO Food & Drink You Tube series - 5 Stops Niagara which featured the Pie Plate, I was excited to stop by while in NOTL. I had read the mixed reviews but wanted to try this place for my self. Even if...over priced as stated in some reviews, I believe that you get what you pay for and you pay for quality. I spent $62 on four fruit tarts and four butter tarts and was prepared to be amazed. Unfortunately, the items were average at best. I have had better in super market bakeries. I was extremely disappointed. Also the service is rather chilly.More
First time here. Came across it driving by and stopped in to see what I might take home. The individual peach pie, the peach scones, and sausage roll are excellent but it is expensive. Although all is delicious I don’t think the prices makes it...worth itMore
This place was great. We got a couple veggies pizzas and daughter got scone and fresh juice. Loved it all. Would definitely go back.
The Pie Plate is in the process of moving locations. New location is 1607 Four Mile Creek Road, Niagara on the Lake, ON. Four Mile Creek location is not doing pizzas and those are only being done a few days a week over weekends at...the old location (1516 Niagara Stone Road). Ended up with one slice of peach, apricot, & blueberry pie and one large nitro brew coffee for around $19. The pie is absolutely delicious! Hard to find the right words to describe why, the filling is just this perfect taste and the crust is the right amount of lightness and flakiness and doesn't feel heavy at all. Definitely would come back, although a shame it feels a bit on the pricier side.More
The Pie Plate is not to be missed when traveling through NOTL!! Maddy has something very special going on. Her pastries, pizzas, salads and sandwiches are off the charts good! Ingredients are generous, local and oh so flavourful. The charming outside patio allows for some street...view seating. If there are butter tarts in the showcase, be sure to get some! Be prepared to pay for quality but you won't be disappointed.More
Delicious peach pie although a bit pricey. $28 for a pie is way too much. I also wished they had more sitting options. Too close to others for the seating arrangement.
Amazing pizza and desert. Will definitely go back. Highly recommended. Looking forward to trying all the pizza on menu.
An amazing place to have dessert after a wine tasting experience. They offer unique apple pies with the best quality and a variety of mixed fruit pies and their Pavlova specialty!!!
They went out of their way to make my daughters birthday unforgettable. They delivered her a pizza and a Chocolate pie to her work , thank you from the my heart
I really have taken too long to give this place the review it deserves... the food is absolutely the best I've had in the area! The very best pizza I've had and it is a terrific place to stay in their above the pie plate...inn. Terrific service, great selection of drinks!! They make hands down the best amaretto sour ever! It is my favourite place to go when I am in the area for work! I have never had a bad meal or dish there!More
The homade soups are amazing, as are the sandwiches the toasted pear & brie sandwich is to die for - No complaints EXCELLENT
I dropped into The Pie Plate restaurant/bakery last week after the company I work for started using them for our tour groups (I like to know the products from suppliers). I bought a blueberry pie and a couple of Jalopeno & Cheddar muffins. All I...can say is WOW! ... the muffins were freshly baked just before I had bought them so the aromas got me and I dug in within minutes of their purchase, and SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! They were AMAZING ... the pie? well after those muffins, I knew what to expect and wasn't disappointed! Bursting with berries and flavour, the crust light and flakey, just as I knew it would be ... it was a treat! GREAT FOOD FOLKS! Get to The Pie Plate ... you'll be happy you did.More
