I ordered Greek meal and there was no lemon potatoes,rice…terrible salad and chicken. A total waste of money. Save your money and time.

My family went to the Symposium Cafe for dinner. Unfortunately, it was a very bad experience. The waitress was very uninterested in doing her job well. We were not given plates for our appetizers. Their ice tea machine was not working and were basically served...water. They only had one plant based option for my son to eat, and they didn't have it in the restaurant . My son did not eat. We were not checked on during the meal, no top ups for water etc. When my daughter asked to order a drink, the waitress said she couldn't take the order as it wasn't her table, and she had 7 other tables to serve. Sat there for 30 minites waiting for the bill, finally got up and had to find the waitress. Terrible service. Will not return. Everything is very expensive these days, and if you support local business, you better rise to the occasion, and respect people, their time, and money spent. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!More

First impressions, decor was typical for the chain. The dining room appeared to be narrow compared to another Symposium restaurant but was adequate for the volume of people. We sat in a booth which was ok and seemed more private. There is patio dining but...we ate inside. Entrees are over priced but for these times when everything in the grocery world is over priced it was not surprising. The side Caesar salads where ok, I’ve had better. Quality of food, I had the Teriyaki Salmon that was very good and plating was perfect. I’m not a fan of my carrots or veggies partially cooked but the where good. Another person in my party had the ribs , which looked like a whole rack, with fries and coleslaw, presentation good but the person would of appreciated a “bone” plate. The ribs where great said the person. Another plate was I think the chicken tenders and fries presentation was lacking some green accents but flavours were good. The final entree was a steak entree that had a brand of alcohol in the name (I can not remember the name) was apparently cooked to perfection (blue) and presentation was good. Desserts, fantastic. We had different desserts which unfortunately were expensive but not disappointing. I shared my Sky high carrot cake, mmmmmmmm so good. Service was attentive, well mannered but the uniforms were lacking uniformity. Would I return, I’ve heard it’s a great place to come for coffee and dessert… I think I will return for that….for now.More

I rarely write a review about a restaurant we’ve been to, but I should do it more, because we visit some great ones here in Whitby, Oshawa and Clarington. This is my first review. We made reservations at the Symposium Rest. & Lounge for six...at 6:30 pm. Didn’t need to. The place was almost empty. I have to give full marks to our waiter. He was very good all around. The food was absolutely the worst we have had in a very long time. I ordered the pork breaded cutlets with roasted potatoes. Potatoes were warm, but hard as bullets. Cutlet was dry, tasteless and too thin to taste whatever it was. My wife and one of our friends ordered the “Southern fried Chicken and fries”. “2 buttermilk chicken breasts in a crunchy breading”, served with coleslaw and gravy. $21.95. What they got were 2 dry, overcooked Chicken fingers with fries, coleslaw and what tasted like a beef gravy. Over all, a terrible first and last experience with this chain.More

Location in Lindsay made me try the local symposium near me. The experience was equivalent to the first !! Definitely recommend trying the oshawa location . Staff was friendly and servers were pleasant.

I just happened to come by the restaurant after running a bunch of errands. This place is great!! Customer service is A1 and the food is even better. I highly recommend

The menu is pricey for breakfast. Presumably, that would be good portions. The portions were small, the food was mediocre at best and it was served cold. The waitress had a poor attitude when we asked for basics like cutlery to eat with, salt and...ketchup. The tables were sticky. While the ambiance is interesting, it is probably more attractive at night when the restaurant is dimly lit and you can’t see the particle board sticking out. Definitely will never go back here for breakfast!More

The atmosphere at Symposium Cafe in Oshawa was excellent. It is very clean. Food was excellent. Attention was okay.
