Utter garbage. Lobster roll was mostly anything but lobster - cream cheese. The service was good though. Chips were said to be hand cut - I have my doubts but if they truly are, they were successful in making them taste like McCains.

We booked a reservation for a Monday night. Everything went smoothly. The service was good. We had a few oysters to start - delicious, with an assortment of sauces to try. My wife & I shared the hot seafood platter - I really enjoyed this....The bacon wrapped scallops in particular stood out. The lobster rolls were great. The muscles were small but in a really tasty broth. We finished everything off by sharing a chocolate mouse cake - fantastic. The only 'negative' was the price of a glass of wine - $17 seems excessive to me. It was a great tasting pinot grigio though.More

Paid 45$ for a piece of octopus as big as my thumb. Presentation was borderline acceptable. I could differentiate the octopus from the burnt chorizo or the small potatoes. You pay for high end restaurant by you get fast food style plate.

We visited this restaurant on a Monday evening and the place was packed. Good thing we had reservations. We shared the steak tartare which was good. Hubby ordered the rib eye and some fingerling potatoes (portion size was good but the steak was a little...dry and at $79 just for the steak, it ran short on expectation). I had the clam chowder (absolutely delicious) and the mussels (love the sauce). We enjoy visiting this restaurant however prices are a little on the high side on some items. As usual, the staff was super friendly and attentive.More

Friday is a red-letter day at the Whalesbone Elgin Street as it’s open for lunch as well as dinner. As it was Friday, lunchtime and I was in the area it seemed churlish not to attend this heaving atmospheric bar and kitchen decorated with stag...heads and a picture of a recumbent female nude. I gorged on a substantial bowl of seafood chowder followed by a Canadian version of fish and chips the fish element comprising a fillet of sockeye salmon I’ve only preciously experienced in a John West can. A glass of Muscadet had as its unusual provenance Brittany as opposed to the Loire valley.More

Went here for our 30th Wedding Anniversary as i have been here before. Did not disppoint. If you love seafood, this is the place in Ottawa to go. Service was brilliant. We came here on our first night in Ottawa and what a start! Brilliant service and a lovely atmosphere. I ordered wine and loved that I got to try the wine first before accepting a full glass, just in case it wasn’t to my taste...- a lovely touch. Our food was so good, super fresh and full of flavour. We had the scallops and calamari to start followed by the cod and salmon dishes, with some seasonal vegetables and they were all presented well and tasted even better. If you’re a seafood fan, it’s a must-visit restaurant.More

All four of us loved our dinner. We had a vegetarian in the group and the chef prepared something off the menu since it's a meat-focused menu. Service was quick and efficient and the vibe was also very cool.

I would suggest you need reservations 95% of the time. It is almost always packed. Important to know that the patio is first come first served. The platters are wonderful gastronomical experiences. Monday to Wednesday they are 15% off!! Great wine and liquor selection. Staff...are a lot of fun and keep things light and friendly.More

Really friendly staff and welcoming. Delicious oysters. Had the thai mussels which were okay but super heavy on the lemongrass. The washrooms are located downstairs. There is a designated men's washroom and the rest are apparently for anyone. When did we decide that women no...longer needed or wanted a women's bathroom? Why is there a designated space for men but not women? It was quite off putting - the basement is faintly creepy - go with someone if you can.More

The staff and food are top notch! I would continue to go to this restaurant every time I am in town for sure! They helped me pick out my meal and were able to very accurately describe the dishes. They let me try the coffee...and when it was not to my liking they did not charge me. Friendly and helpful, and food to die for, fit for a last meal.More
