Porta Casa’s food is delicious. I have many, many times and have NEVER been disappointed. The staff and service is excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant, it is one of our most favourite restaurants in Ottawa.

Went for lunch with another couple. Restaurant seats around maybe 50 people so on a busy day reservations are a must. Ambience is nice, red and white checkered tablecloths, comfortable seats. Complementary buns & butter… Our waitress “Caroline” was friendly, promptly served us, and came...back to make sure all was okay and if we wanted any more water, coffee, wine, desert, -in other words a seasoned professional lserver. One of our friends had the “Calamari Fritte-lightly floured & deep fried with seafood and garlic sauce” ($11.50) and a small “Combination Pizza”-pepperoni, mushrooms, red & green peppers ($15.50). He remarked (and I verified it by tasting) that his calamari were hot and tender, and that the small pizza was large enough that he had 3 of the 6 slices left over and took them home. His wife had a large “Greek Salad” ($11.50) and remarked that it was very good and that they’ve never been disappointed at this restaurant. My wife had the “Penne Giovani”-penne pasta, chicken, mushrooms, shallots, with parmigiana rose sauce) ($19.00)-very much liked her choice. Next time said she’s trying the Mussels Marinara in the white wine, garlic, and tomato sauce ($11.00) I had a House Specialties dish- “Pollo Suzanna”-breaded chicken breast, stuffed with mozzarella, fontina & asparagus, topped with a creamy white wine mushroom sauce. ($24.50) with a small Caesar side salad instead of pasta. The Pollo Suzanna was truly delicious. This restaurant is known for it’s quality food and our orders proved this to be true.More

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at La Porto A Casa. Interestingly, it was packed on a Monday night! Our server was very friendly and professional. Everything we ordered was perfectly prepared- fresh ingredients, full of flavor and served at the right temperature. They offer a...wide range of dishes for all tastes. Our pizza was excellent. A highlight was their Rombiballe (two large meat balls—very spicy!). Prices are reasonable- good value for money.More

We always enjoy the food here, but after our last experience will stick to take out. Server was inattentive, non-responsive (we almost had to do a song and dance to get her attention) and in response to a water spill? Tossed 4 napkins on the...table as she rushed past. This experience almost. Almost took away from how much we always enjoy the food.More

I will use this as a take out but don't want to dine there. The food was delicious with the exception of the fried zucchini that we shared at the start of the meal. Very thin strips of zucchini covered with a hard overcook (partially...burnt black) coating. The dipping sauce was excellent. We ate at 6:30 pm. Our table for four (reserved in advance) was located at the end of an isle close to the kitchen. All the servers needed to pass behind us to tend to all that ables towards the front of the restaurant and other tables in another isle to the West side. It was like eating in a roundabout. To make matters worse, the servers were all in a geat hurry, they were almost running back and forth. The space behind us was minimal so that as they rushed by the servers would often brush up against us on the way past. I know this place is popular so I expect they were rushing the service in ored to get the next batch of customers through. Our server was efficient and polite but impersonal. There is obviously no time to get to know the customer. We were there to celebrate my wife's birthday. Our family of four agreed that we missed the friendly, relaxed atmospher of our usual eatery. No review would be complete without mentioning the very high noise level. The restaurant is located in a standard unit in a small shopping mall. The sound bounces off the hard ceiling and walls. We tended to lean across the table to converse and we noticed other customers doing the same. Naturally, some patrons, especially those in a large group simply raised their voices to be heard, thereby adding to the cacophony of sound. The place needs some suspended, sound deflecting 'clouds' and some sound-absorbent panels on the walls. In conclusion, go there and use a take out to sample the delicious food. Don't eat there if you are looking to enjoy a relaxing meal.More

We ordered 5 orders of lasagna for take out. They put it all in one pan. For over one hundred dollars I think they could have packed them separately . They told us to heat it at 350 for 35 mins-since it was one big...pan it took closer to 70 mins to heat. Not happy when you are trying to feed several hungry people. They wanted one order to keep for another time. Wow, not easy when all are in one pan. Yes it was good but I don’t think I will be going back to this restaurant.More
