About
We are a modern, small-plates restaurant that serves full appetizer-sized portions of market-driven cuisine, all prepared from scratch with care in our open-concept kitchen overlooking our second floor dining room and kitchen bar. We use local, sustainable and seasonal products where possible, and believe in supporting area farmers as much as we can. This small-plate format allows guests to sample a few different dishes without having to commit to just one main course in a traditional restaurant.

Loved the small plate idea - some were not so small like my husbands bavette and frites (good value). The Gnocchi with bacon cream sauce and kale/pickled sweet potato was to die for, and my son loved the beef tartar. Very friendly staff, unique Canadian...wine choices, and a nice quiet atmosphere good for conversation created a lovely evening. Felt very safe in terms of Covid distancing etc.More

Unique dishes unlike any other in Byward market area. Staff actually seem to enjoy serving the public. Good wine list for a limited but excellent menu. Food served hot, unlike some restaurants. Try the scallops in risotto for excellent dining experience.

Friends from Mississauga and us had a wonderful experience at Play on Saturday evening. The wine was excellent. Each of our meals were mouth wateringly delicious. Our server was very professional, cordial and knowledgeable. Everyone was respectful with regards to Covid social distancing, masks &...sanitization. We'll definitely be back.More

My wife and I dined here. We had three courses and recommended wines. Every mouthful was an adventure in culinary delight....absolutely terrific. The staff was fantastic, showing great care with my wife’s allergies, and being very helpful with food and wine selections. They also made...for a relaxed, fun but professional atmosphere. We dined in August 2920, during the Covid pandemic and felt totally safe. Thank you for a highlight dining experience. Can’t wait to do it again!More

literally so awful, rat size portions, no flavour - luckily I wasn't the one paying ... but service was nice and enjoyed the aesthetic

My wife and I had dinner with another couple this month on a Saturday evening. The format of small plates is fun because it's like ordering 3 or 4 appetizers instead of a main, which I often do in other restaurants because I want a...food experience rather than to just get filled up. I ordered 2 plates - the octopus and the short ribs. Both were excellent and I chose the wine that was the recommended pairing. Everything was tasty, but a big part of the dining experience is having a server who can answer your questions and tell you about the wine, the ingredients, the preparation methods, and so forth. Our server delivered in spades. Thanks to Steve and his team for a nice evening.More

We find the food here amazing, and the menu creative. We have eaten here on every trip to Ottawa and never been disappointed. Service is attention and prices are fairly reasonable for what you get.

I recommend a reservation. We did not have one, but were able to sit at the bar, which we enjoy. So it wasn't a problem for us, if you want a table, make a reservation.

Hi From what I can remember, it is not wheel chair accessible. The restaurant is on the ground floor but you have to go up a couple of steps to enter.
