Christmas Eve dinner is very difficult to find in Ottawa. Most places are closed, even hotels and many restaurants do not inform people until the last minute that they will be closing Christmas Eve (esp. on their web sites!) We were pleasantly surprised to find...out that the Marriott's Spin was not only open but serving their full dinner menu. Our waiter was pleasant and we had excellent service. There was lots of choice on the menu and our meals were very good. Wine choices and dessert were also spot on.More
Lunch with colleagues: our waiter was personable, and provided great service even though we thought we might be neglected seated just outside the main restaurant in the hall. The pumpkin soup was very tasty, but was let down by the club sandwich. It had packaged...lunch meat which was a disappointment considering the price and for a Marriott restaurant. Please upgrade the club.More
Though it serves a hotel, Spin's dining room was closed on the Sunday evening we visited, so we were seated in the lounge. There were very few patrons and more than enough servers. I had salmon with a variety of vegetables. The salmon was a...bit dry, but not bad. The Brussels sprouts were so undercooked that I could not get my fork into many of them. When the server asked how our meal was, I mentioned that, but she did not apologize on behalf of the restaurant, only said she would "pass it along" to the cook. On the rare occasions when I've had a problem in other restaurants, they have offered a substitution, or a comp dessert, or the chef came to the table to apologize, but none of this happened here.
Another server dropped a glass onto a granite tabletop near us. It broke. His visual inspection of the seating was brief, and certainly not sufficient to notice small fragments or shards that may have escaped his quick dusting.More
My wife and I and our dog Stella spent a wonderful four nights at the Marriott. The staff at the Spin restaurant, especially David and Tanya made us feel so welcome we can't wait to come back. The food at the Spin was excellent and...very reasonably priced. One night we ate at a high priced restaurant down the road where the servers were snooty and the food wasn't half as good as the Spin and the price was over double. The staff is really well trained and responsive.More
We have dinner there while staying in the hotel. The seating was very comfy and not crowded. I have their Combo Kent which is soup of the day and salad and the food was delicious. Kid’s menu was also good and my daughter has chicken...fingers and it comes with fruit bowl.More
It is a nice restaurant part of the Marriott Ottawa hotel. You will not be fascinated by the experience but it a nice place to grab a bite if you happen to be staying at the hotel or the vicinity.
It is located on Kent...and Queen street a few blocks away on foot from parliament hill. It is conveniently located for breakfast and lunch if you happen to be on the fly.
The restaurant layout is typical of any restaurant that is part of the lobby of a hotel. It is quite spacious. Formed in the shape of an L you have plenty of room to have a conversation without having someone eavesdrop on you. The offering is very average. It seems that it is mainly bar scene food (burgers, wings, etc.). It is tasty but nothing that will leave you asking for more. I liked it because it was the only available place to serve me at the time I got back to the hotel and because I was very tired to go and check something else outside
I would recommend their burger and a side of fries, the other items on the menu are average.
Breakfasts are not bad neither. You have the choice of à la carte menu and open buffet. I always liked the buffet as it offers the typical items of scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon
Spin is a nice place when in Ottawa although it is not a place where you will be coming back for a unique experience of a specific offering. It is just a relaxing place in a nice hotel for reasonable prices.
