Visited Rockliffe Boathouse yesterday evening
for for the first time with a friend. What a disappointment, from the staff and from the health perspective. None of the 4 staff members serving at the main bar and in the kitchen were wearing a mask. One of...the staff members taking my order was so intoxicated that she can't understand me...what a shame! I'm so concerned now that I'm planning to be tested tomorrow. This place should be closed immediately.More
No other place in Ottawa where you can have a drink , a bite to eat enjoy the water with an amazing sunset. If you are looking for a patio in the open air on the water this is the place.
The sunsets are breathtaking...!More
As usual this is a wonderful location to enjoy the waterfront activity. In order to ensure Covid 1`9 compliance they have added some hightop tables under the big top and added a few large tables made out of old timer along the waterfront and by...the restaurant entrance. The service is limited due to Covid restrictions but it is still the best place on the river for a drink.More
It was very busy here the night we came because of the Gatineau Balloon Festival (the restaurant is optimally situated for viewing the balloons). Due to the weather (too windy), the balloons did not fly.
Had the fish tacos and it was good. Other dishes...(wings and fries, burger and smoke meat sandwich) were good.
We waited a very long time for our waiter to bring us our bill we had to flag her down. We had no issue with language. Food was just ok.More
Fish & chips. Fish batter hard, over cooked. Fish tough, dry and barely warm. I suspect it was precooked and re- fried at time of order. Chips soggy & barely warm.
Fish Tacos. Taco scorched & tough. Fish barel warm.
Won’t go back or recommend.
The only good point to this restaurant is the location on the Ottawa River and the ambiance. Now I'm bilingual and can easily translate, and this establishment is in Ontario on the water with the border of Quebec, so I understand being able to speak...French, but barely speaking English? really? The service to order was slow and the staff could barely speak english. I brought visiting coworkers from Winnipeg, USA and Romania for a nice sunset but that was ruined by the inconsistent service and English/French language barrier. They seemed to cater to the French Canadians first over serving our table. I even had to translate the debit payment machine as it was only in French. Also my wife went inside 3 times to get their attention for beverage refills. It was at this point that my wife noticed a dog in the kitchen eating scraps. I don't believe this is allowed under the Ontario health and safety rules. To bad for the inconsistencies for such a great location and the food was pretty good, but it is not worth the second rate service.More
The broken up steep road in was our first red flag.
The service was slow and we were never asked about drinks, I had to ask after 15 minutes waiting.
Then when we ordered, we were told two of us couldn't get what we wanted...as not everything on the menu is available, even though we didn't pick the items that said not available on weekends.
Chicken wrap was good, the hamburger just ok.
The only good part was the water location.
We waited and waited and waited for the server to return, but she never did so we had to track her down to pay...and no, it was not at all busy.
Prices too high for quality of food.More
Three of us visited here for supper 2 days ago. Didn’t book ahead and got a table near the entrance.
Note: all the surrounding tables were occupied by French Canadians.
Terrible service in a nutshell! Our server didn’t ask if we wanted refills, the food...took 40 mins to get to us and she went home mid service without us being handed over to another server. BTW all the servers were French Canadians too.
Tables of 10 to 12 people around us that arrived after we did, came and went before we had finished.
Looking back, we could have easily just left and no one would have been none the wiser. When we did leave, our table still hadn’t been cleared and the surrounding loud French Canadian people were being tended to with refills and next courses etc. Not recommended for non French Canadians.More
This out of the way spot on the Ottawa river provides a decent meal. The standard menu items are offered. No complaints, food was as expected. My wife recommends the fish tacos, stating that they are better than those found at other establishments.
Go to...this restaurant if you want a unique, quaint setting. Most tables are on a floating dock. If the motion of the water bothers you, then stay away. We had a relaxing lunch watching the boats go by; the food and beer satiated my appetite.More
