The restaurant is small and clean. The prices are very reasonable. The food is authentic. If you want a balance of meat and vegetables then order a meat dish and a vegetable dish. It will come on a platter to share with you and your guest. Use your fingers and dig in. No cutlery is used. You eat in a... More

About as authentic as you can get in Canada, if you like Ethiopian food, you have to try the Blue Nile. And if you've never tried it before, you're missing out! The flavours of the berbere will keep you coming back. And eating without cutlery just adds to the experience. You won't leave hungry, guaranteed!

When visiting my son in Ottawa, he wanted to take us to one of his favorite restaurants. A new experience for us ...the food was fabulous and the price was very reasonable...delicious!!!

This was my first time eating traditional Ethiopian food. Went with a work colleague. No forks or spoons, you eat everything with your hands. Food was ok, service was good. Small and quaint atmosphere.

I have a confession: I'm a serious Ethiopian food addict. I have to get it where ever I am - which means in every city I visit I am looking for a fix. I've tried Ethiopian restaurants in Seattle, Denver, NYC, DC, Montreal, and the Horn of Africa which is also in Ottawa...the poor people that travel with me are... More

I love Ethiopian food but live an hour west of Ottawa, so didn't make it down to Rideau Street very often to the Horn of Africa. When I did a search recently to see if there was something west of downtown I was happy to find this spot. My husband and I went for dinner before a show at the... More

Cool staff, good size portions, great cooking! Cool decor and ambiance! Food took a long time to prepare, though, but definitely worth the wait--may have been due to the fact we were a large group.

A modest restaurant, with no frills but great food and reasonable prices. Everything I've ordered has been spicy and flavorful. The veggie platter is a great thing to start with if you're not sure what to expect - lots of lentils, is probably quite healthy. The injera bread is light and fluffy, really tasty. The service is a bit slow,... More

Who knew that Ottawa had Ethiopian food? Now that I do, I will be back. I went for lunch and brought a friend for her first experience, she loved it. The food was as good as I have had and the service was perfect. The decor is nice and the smiles are genuine. I will be back.

My wife and I don't have Ethiopian food where we live (in West Virginia), so we always look for Ethiopian when we travel. The Blue Nile in Ottawa has terrific food, and we go here every time we visit Ottawa. Like many Ethiopian places it's small, in a little space in a little strip mall in a dumpy neighborhood, lighting... More
