We had breakfast here each day we were in Ottawa and also took snacks for lunch from here. Prices were good and the choice was extensive.

Best bakery in the market. Large selection of European style breads. French café and patisseries. Also serve breakfast and lunch. Bright sitting area, large outdoor patio weather permitting. Friendly staff. The best part. They do not accept tips. The price includes decent wages. I would...continue going even if prices increase to pay staff living wages.More

nwaynesworld thank you for your visit and for taking the time to write a review. Mini pizzas and other food items can be reheated in a conventional oven if and when requested. Most customers are pressed for time thus the use of a microwave oven....More

If you want to just look at delicious ‘looking’ pasties and snacks this is the place. The display windows are large with plenty of selection. However there are flies, wasps and other bugs flying on the danishes and pizzas. It was disgusting to see and...especially unappetizing as the servers are doing nothing to prevent the bugs from getting near the foods for sale. Lots of Obama cookies as well as other similar cookies, so so many that it was unbelievable that they all could be fresh. I would not recommend this place.More

We had three food items. The spinach quiche was excellent! It was very good. The lemon danish was disappointing: the lemon did not taste like lemon and the pastry was not flaky, had the texture of bread. The lentil soup was likewise disappointing. It was...very watery and salty. Can’t recommend this at all.More

The whole family always makes sure that we stop at this place when we are in Ottawa - located right in the centre of ByWard Market - it has everything you'd ever want for a nice breakfast, lunch or snack. My wife loves their huge...bowls of Lattes, I always get the Hot Chocolate and a nice almond, chocolate pastry. This time around the kids even ordered a smoked salmon panini. We also shared a pecan chocolate tart and some kind of scone topped with berries. The prices can be a little surprising, but the food and drinks are always huge and fresh. We sat inside with our doggie, which was such a nice treat as well. Be prepared to wait awhile as it can get very bust at times but it's definitely worth the wait!More

Pastries, cookies, sandwiches, meat pies, and coffee. All beautifully made. Wish I could have tried one of each! Price for a fruit danish was $4.75 and worth every penny. Enjoyed with a good cup of coffee. Being near the Byward entrance, it was quite loud...and busy, so if you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere, this may not be your place.More

This was the only restaurant we went to in Ottawa that did not have good customer service. The sandwiches we had were mediocre. I would suggest anywhere else in Byward Market instead.

Was completely shocked to see wasps in every display, be it bread, pudding or biscuits (5-6 wasps in one box of Obama cookies!). Staff seemed very casual about the whole situation which seemed like a significant health hazard

Lots of varieties of pastry and bread to choose from. The pastry was good but we could tell they were stale, bet it's not made that morning. Not a lot of expresso to offer, pretty basic.

Moulin de Provence has no vegan options. I also asked if they had anything without eggs, and the staff had no ingredient list for any of their products. In 2022, people working in a bakery should be aware of dietary restrictions, and Moulin de Provence...could have at least one or two vegan option. They also were out of chai latte. Never again! There are so many other good places in Ottawa to go ;)More

This place is packed with people all day long. They have freshly baked goods and sandwiches so lunch time is very busy especially. We kept seeing these red and white cookies when we walked by and came in to see what they were. They call...them Obama Cookies, named after the US president who came in to buy a cookie when visiting Ottawa years ago. Pretty cool. They have a couple different shapes you can get and the cookies are so good. Especially the ones with the raspberry inside! It's right at the heart of Byward Market.More

My wife and I call it OUR SATURDAY MORNING RITUAL, going to Le Moulin de Provence in Byward Market for Café au lait et Croissants! We have been doing this for the past twenty (20) years! We often have a chat with the owner, Claude...Bonnet, and or his delightful wife Caroline. We order our Café au lait, extra strong, with three shots of espresso, steamed milk, and powdered chocolate on top. Raphael from St. Malo, Bretagne, makes it perfectly for us. We read the Saturday papers and kibitz. My wife picks up a loaf of Sebenfelder bread, or a fresh Baguette, or Fougasse. Le Moulin de Provence in Byward Market is a rare piece of France in the centre of Ottawa, formidable, chapeau!More
