This place is better than many Italian restaurants in Ottawa. Too bad they only serve lunch, so better to come early to find the seats, it’s usually very packed. We ordered the Alice pizza, tomato sauce pork and veal cannelloni and the truffle cream sauce spaghetti, they were all very delicious.

La Bottega has been around for years and has a number of locations in Ottawa. On my recent visit to Ottawa, we stopped here to pick up a couple of paninis (you choose your bread type and you choose your filling): The paninis are stuffed with top ingredients (cold cuts, cheese, vegetables) and are very reasonably priced. The service is friendly and efficient.
At the same time, we picked up a couple of pieces of asiago cheese imported from Italy.
La Bottega has an incredible choice of quality Italian products.

Tried a Pizza and a pasta (Manacoti) dish. Both were really flavourful and tasty. The place is nothing special in terms of ambience but you go there for the food, nothing else. There were clearly some regulars there who appeared to be there for a weekly (Saturday) lunch with friends.
Come prepared to wait a little bit for a seat and forget about coming with a large number (more than 4) of people. No space for that.
Well worth the stop!

We were looking for a lunch spot during our last day in Ottawa. We'd seen it was well reviewed but wasn't available in the evenings. This is a kitchen with a counter and a few tables at the back of an Italian grocery which produced one of the best meals we had during our stay. We shared a meat board which was excellent followed by 2 pasta dishes which were probably the best We'd ever had. I guess the freshness of the ingredients was become they came direct from the shop.
The number seats is reasonably small so you'll need to time your visit right, and don't be confused when it looks like you've arrived a grocery store for a great meal!

This is a great store!!!! They have a huge variety of fine Italian products. Homemade pastas to coffee and cheeses and meats. They have a great sandwich counter with tons of options to choose from. Great place to grab lunch or all your needs for a great meal at home. They have a small cafe in the rear of the store that gives you a small Italian village feel. We went there twice on our four day trip. The prices are very good for what you get. A must try!

I have driven from Montreal specifically for La Bottega many times! It's no surprise that it's rated #1 in all of Ottawa.
The little restaurant in the back serves up some of the best Italian food I've had. Also, they have an amazing sandwich counter and espresso bar. Along with the market, containing imported and house made items, La Bottega is a one stop shop for everything you need to whip up a delicious Italian meal at home. I can't say enough about this place!

Don't let the grocery up front mislead you. Go to the back and find the small restaurant with about 15 seats.
The chef will passionately explain the menu before she masterfully prepares your meal. Pasta, sole or the bread... it's all wonderful.
Go early or ask the owner if you can reserve a table after the mid-day rush.
Enjoy!!!

My go to place for the best espresso, cheese, olive oil ... and Italian wine! Yes, they now sell wine. Amazing well-priced selection from all regions. The variety of delicious take-away foods has increased, the sandwiches are as good as ever, and the espresso bar has a variety of authentic Italian pastries.

You get to choose your bread, meat, cheese, spread, and toppings, and three minutes later, you’re holding a gigantic sandwich so delicious you’ve probably never tasted anything like it. The last time I had such an amazing lunch bite was in Florence.
If you’re unsure what to get, go for: focaccia + pastrami + provolone + olive oil + spicy eggplant, onions, and tomatoes. A-MA-ZINNNG!!!
Later on that hot summer day, we bought large cups of iced americano. Spot on.
The shop also tempts with the most mouthwatering Italian delicacies. Warm recommendations from a couple who are truly passionate about food.

We have traveled throughout all of Italy. This little Restaurant that is in the back of an Italian Market, Rivals any and all Italian Meals we have eaten… The chef is an adorable woman named Isabelle, who when she describes the menu to you, is as enthusiastic as she is a talented Chef. The owner Rocco could not be more charming!!!! This is a must when you visit Ottawa.

Shocking experience. The Panetone Italian cake I bought proved to be rotten in spite of the featured expiry date of 30/06/2025 - see pic attached.
Avoid buying this product! Waste of money. I lost my trust in La Botega...and so did my friends.

I stumbled across here whilst walking round Byward market Ottawa! There only one way to explain this place its like a culinary aladins cave! It's a store, butchers, charcuterie, bakers, restaurant all under one roof!! I had it try the restaurant whilst busy and small it as character and apart from that the food was absolutely tip top! The best past I have had outside of Italy!!
The spaghetti with black pepper and pecorino cheese was simply delightful accompanied with homemade foccacia and a glass of red this was the perfect combination for a cold Saturday afternoon, so whether you are looking for beans, rice, canoli, bread, proscutio or a fantastic meal this is the place for you!!
Will I return? Absolutely!! Would I recommend? Yes yes yes

Unfortunatly I have to give a 1 star. This is my 3rd visit and the only thing I think is
how old is the bread, I say conservativily it's at least 3 days old. The stalenest
of the bread stands out and it ruins it.
La Bottega stop serving old bread!!

Wow! No table available when we arrived, but someone gave up half their table, which they split to give us our own. Afterwards they kept greeting people at their now table for two, and crowding to sit. Come to find out the owner (we think) was sitting there also. When we tried to pay the bill, we were told someone already took care of it. So I repeat, WOW! Who does that? We think the owner. The food was ridiculously good, but this was simply the most generous gesture we have ever experienced! Whoever you are, THANK YOU, and also to the woman who offered up half her table. It just doesn’t get any better than this. 🙏 You made our day!
